Update on Fire ban: I spoke with the forest ranger of Yadkin County, and You ARE allowed SMALL campfires for cooking and heating purposes only. No bonfires. Charcoal and propane grills are OK too.
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!
Please note that all our sites are reserved with a one vehicle limit. Some sites are large enough to accommodate additional vehicles but each additional vehicle will incur a $10 per night charge. Free parking for additional vehicles is located at the office/store.
Looking for a camping experience with a little luxury to boot? Look no further than our Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms! You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. You will have access to a fire ring and picnic table (located at each site), firewood for sale on site (please do not bring firewood from off-site), clean well water (located near the pond), the creek to explore, our stocked pond to fish, and wooded trails to hike. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 160 acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣

We are a peaceful campsite located along the Greenway Trail 20 minutes from Downtown Raleigh and 10 minutes from Clayton. The farm offers private wooded meadows with direct access to the Greenway for walking and cycling. Campers can either rent a tent or bring their own, choosing between secluded spots, shaded areas, or open spaces. The campsite is accessible via a gravel farm track and is close to the Greenway, river, and main house for bathroom access.
Nearby attractions include the Bailey Sarah William Preserve with 447 acres and 16.6 miles of multi-use trails, Sandy Pines Preserve with 563 acres of trails and fishing (18 minutes away), and Robertson Mill Pond for trails and seasonal kayaking (17 minutes away). At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear.
We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards.
Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining.
Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars.
Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture.

Our farm is vast and sparse,
focusing on sustainability while giving back to the community. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike.
Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and wildflowers galore. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.25 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend)
If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close.

The climb up sunrise mountain is bumpy, be warned, and do adhere to the conversation and guidance of the host on the call or in person meeting preclimb. Even though the section titled “the climb” is passed each and every visit by capable awdr and 4wdr vehicles, this does not mean everyone is capable of picking a thought out path. Thankfully everyone of our guest have been wonderful in the over 8 years with zero damage to their vehicles. MSG for more info.

We use any downed wood on our property for our family to keep warm and to cut and split ourselves to sell to our guest. Private end of road property in the Cowee Valley of Franklin NC, which is the first resupply stop along the Appalachian Trail through the Smoky Mountains. Cowee Valley is a gorgeous scenic valley with farmland and winding roads and mountains on all sides. Cowee Campground has newly been made into a campground, previously undeveloped. We have left most of it undisturbed to maintain the natural and peaceful nature vibes. This land is a short distance off the main roads and small/private. All tent sites are in the shaded forest and RV hookups are just a few steps away with hardwoods filling out and providing partial shade. It's a quiet area with the sounds of nature and leaves rustling. We hope you'll appreciate and enjoy the beauty and tranquility as much as we do. If you want to car/truck camp without hookups we have space for that too. Just let us know.
We have a beautiful 4 bathroom bathhouse, with ADA shower and another bathroom with clawfoot tub/shower and private back deck. 2 large firepits with Andirondack chairs and a separate picnic table and grill area. There is a large communal Yoga/Event deck and covered Bar/Hangout area beneath - hammock, bar top, darts and it's own firepit as well. Plus Corn hole and Horseshoe pits for your enjoyment. We've just added 2 treehouses with swings, rope climb, pull-up bar, trx, cargo net and hammock - extra fun and exercise for all.

Get away from the crowds. On 300 beautiful acres once operated as a children's summer adventure camp.. There are 3 primitive campsites, 2 cottages, and a horse sanctuary. The campsites are spaced out around the property for privacy. There are port-a-potties. There may occasionally be a real bathroom available.
4WD or AWD is recommended for all sites due to 1/2 mile gravel road and then completely off road for a short distance. Or, if you are bringing 2WD, there is plenty of parking and then walk to your campsite. We don't recommend trying to bring large RV's due to the access.
We have not had a problem with Black Bears on the property. Help us keep it that way. Do not store or keep food in your tent. Don't sleep with food. Keep in mind bears are omnivores much like us. They eat mostly plants but also eat meat. For more info on bear safety, visit www.bearwise.org
Winter camping is encouraged with free firewood. However, you will probably need to park on the gravel and walk to your campsite to limit soil erosion of the off-road trail.
Pets are welcome only at some sites, but please please let us know you are bringing them and they will need to be leashed due to other animals.
A large part of the property is forest with hiking trails, creeks, and wildlife. You can see wildflowers and lightning bugs in season along with deer, turkey, and horses.
And all of our spots have a great view of the sky! We're not far from the Bare Dark Sky Observatory.
The grass horse arena and the pond were originally built for the summer camp. The pond is stocked with bass and bluegill and has a chorus of bullfrogs in summer. The arena is flat and has a long range mountain view all the way to Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi). There are also a meadow spot encircled by trees.

Our farm is a perfect spot for cooling off, relaxing, or using as a launch point for exploring the wild region that so closely surrounds us. Please note that Wilson’s Creek Gorge is closed for Summer 2025, but you’ll still have all our private creek and river access on the farm property.

Your campsite includes a wooden tent platform (~12’ x 24’) with steps, a fire pit and grilling area, four chairs, a round dining table, a water hose, and four electrical outlets. A newly built outhouse is just steps away.

Camping space available for tent, camper or RV with a picnic table and small stream. No power or water at this time but upgrades are planned according to traffic flow. Blue Ridge Parkway two miles away. Country Store 1/2 mile away. New River 6 miles away. The town of Sparta, North Carolina is 3 miles away. Elevation 3000 feet in the mountains of northwest North Carolina. Site #1 is beside the small stream that is on the property. Site # 3 now has a electrical outlet and the fee for Site # 3 is $6.48 per day. ( Please note site # 3 with electrical use is $16.48 per day which is ---$6.48 per day (site rental ) plus $10.00 electrical rental per day ( with adjustments for usage ).
Site # 2 Has been discontinued as of this date of 1 November 2025.
Each Site will have an electrical outlet in the future and this will be posted when the outlets have been installed.

The caboose was adorable with excellent use of space! There was even an option to sleep in a little loft area up top. Do wish the top had curtains or blinds, but otherwise enjoyable. Watching the bison eat was amazing! Very calm and peaceful.

4 nights at Cowee (Kawiyi Deer Clan) Campground
Tanya’s campsite was beautiful and had everything you needed to have a great camping trip! Very peaceful and especially loved the views from the pasture, we stayed at site 10 and had plenty of room to accommodate us, set up our hammocks and enjoyed the cows grazing! The bathhouse was excellent and was very nice to have after a long day of camping. Tanya was an amazing host, beyond accommodating and helped us with any questions we needed answered! We throughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come again!

We absolutely adored this property. The goats were genuinely like dogs running up to you and wagging their tails. The house itself was incredibly spacious and so unique. I loved that the patio was fenced so that our dogs could hang out with us outside. The hottub was clean and while we didn’t use the sauna or big bathtub both were very clean and looked nice! The proximity to downtown Asheville was also a huge bonus. We highly recommend.

Cheryl and family were awesome hosts! They were very understanding and flexible when our arrival time needed to change last minute. They guided us right to our spot when we arrived. The spot was as described and perfect for our camper setup. The property is fantastic and perfect for primitive camping. Camp sites are set apart enough to offer a decent amount of privacy. The public shower/bathhouse was a nice accommodation for the primitive camping but it would be nice if guests could make hot/cold adjustments in shower instead of just an on/off switch to turn on the water. They have several things in their onsite store to purchase that were very convenient and also help support the farm! Keep it local if you can right?! Their sausage was fantastic! We will definitely be back!

We had such a great stay!! We camped with our baby who is just discovering animals - and they sure had plenty for her to say hello to!! Horses, donkeys, mules, cows (and calves!), goats, pigs (and piglets!), chickens, ducks… it’s the full farm experience!! Marble, the goat (who thinks she’s a dog) was such a hoot and so much fun. They also have a little farm store where you can buy meat and eggs and lots of other stuff. We bought a couple of NY Strips and my mouth is still watering over how great they were. As a unique bonus, ask about the history of the land!! (Hints: really cool and old cemetery is there and the improvements they’ve done are astounding!)
Basic logistics: Easy pull through spot, big rig friendly, power was perfect, water pressure was just right, park was very quiet, only saw people coming and going. Gate is closed at night for safety (they’ll give you a code, you’re not trapped!)
Loved this stay so much. We will be back - with friends!

This was our second stay at Kohler Farms, and it certainly won’t be our last! This time we brought my in-laws and extended family so they could experience it with us, and everyone absolutely loved it.

Cheryl is a gem and her property is a beautiful, special place! Site 1 is perfect for large groups and my friends and our dogs and I enjoyed playing in the creek and fishing in the pond. What a cool spot! Even with a drought and low pond we caught SO MANY fish! Very exciting and fun for my boys!
Fun Info: The drive down is a bit step and could see how 4WD would be necessary.
There was plenty of wood around to collect for fires. Not a lot of shade until the afternoon so be prepared for that if you’re camping in the summer. There is not a lot of level ground. We camped on a bit of a slant but no big deal! There were people staying at the house on the hill so we only had use of a half bath. Showers are not guaranteed. There is a Walmart about 15 minutes away and various other stores so pretty convenient if you need to run and grab some extras. We went and visited the horse on the farm and they are super sweet, there are also horse treats in the bathroom :) love that. There was a shortage of bullfrogs, apparently, but still, they were very active and chatting all night long. The sound is not consistent so it kept me up a little at first night but the second and third night we got used to it.
Beautiful scenery great stay overall! We’ll be back!

We had an amazing week at Maple Skyline. Wed originally planned 4 nights but decided to arrive a day early and once we were there decided not to move on to our next spot and extended another day. It was difficult to leave! The long-range views are truly stunning and we felt totally isolated on top of the mountain. Jon was communicative and helpful, especially when it came to the drive up which does require a 4x4 and some confidence! Can’t wait to go back.

We absolutely loved camping here! The hosts were responsive and quick to answer any questions we had! The property is absolutely beautiful! The bath house was so nice and really made the whole camping experience so much more enjoyable. They had everything you could imagine from kayaks, John boats, paddle boards! We brought our own floats and went floating in the pond for a while and then fished off the dock. It was so nice. We will have to come back with our kids soon as I know they would have a blast in the ponds!

Everything was wonderful. Tanya went the extra step to confirm that the trees at the site were close enough for us to hammock camp. The weekend was SO perfect! Our kids loved the treehouses. We loved that there were picnic tables and a grill within sight of the kids playing while we cooked. The firewood was dry and everything was very well maintained.
The Gem mining was not on our list of things to do BUT it was one of our favorite activities.

Four of us visited Camp 5 on the top of the mountain. Even though we didn't meet Jon in person (he was picking his daughter up), we were able to talk to him on the phone to learn the do's/don'ts of the site. Very nice guy. When we arrived at Site 5, we were greeted with a SPECTACULAR view. One of the most beautiful HipCamp sites I have seen. We had pre-purchased the bundle of firewood, but it was very windy the first night (20mph gusts) and created a real fire hazard since we were also in a drought, thus we were not able to have a fire. The 2nd night a tropical storm was moving through so we decided to leave after night 1. Jon said he couldn't credit the firewood purchase, but he was very nice and said when we return he would give us our bundle then. We look forward to a return visit and having a big fire with a beautiful view. Definitely recommend.
