For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains.
500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time.
Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land.
Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site.
There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail
and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has
trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing,
Very rural and private, even though we are only 25 miles SW of Albany, NY the capital of NYS, here it is quiet and peaceful.
We do have 3 very friendly dogs that will want to be your best friends. Also farm animals that you can meet.
There will be farm noises, roosters greeting the morning and various grunts and snorts... far less noise than any modern city.
Albany, along with the surrounding areas, have many events etc going on. There's hiking, biking, nature parks, horse racing, concerts, festivals and events and so much more. Links and information can be provided to campers that stay with us that are looking for entertainment & excursions.

Easy entry off a quiet well maintained country road in the town of Conesville, NY. Sitting on 5 acres you will notice the beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains. Feel free to hike the entire property. Hike down the gorge approximately 80ft to the seasonal mountain fed creek. You will find massive boulders, and various artifacts as this property was once a mining operation dating back to the early 1920s. Be mindful of partially fallen trees on the hillside along the south end. It’s a steep hike down so get your hiking poles and good boots. The north end is an easier hike. If you find any cool artifacts they are yours to keep or just leave them and we will add them to the display for the new cabin. Check out the iconic ‘57 Chevy Bel Air halfway down the gorge. Our property consists of a 230 acre retired dairy farm nestled in the beautiful Catskill mountains. This very private property features a babbling brook, wide open fields to play lawn games, horse shoes, volleyball, corn hole, kickball, and ladder ball . Our slice of paradise consists of 225 acres of forested land nestled in the foothills of the Catskills near Albany. We are a homestead and small campground devoted to the principles of organic farming and self-reliance. Modern agriculture and big business are unsustainable, destroying farmland at an accelerating pace. It is important for us to teach the next generation, there is an alternative. We produce much of our own food. We have friendly goats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, donkeys and horses the guests can pet and feed. There are no swimming holes on our property, but many waterfalls and swimming spots within a short drive (see list below). A quick 5 minute drive will get you to one of the best disc golf courses in the north east. For the truly adventurous, Clarksville Cave is a short drive away. Visit their website for list of proper gear and rules. We do rent some of the equipment needed.

With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills!
There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer.
Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies.
Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Camp site is a short hike along private trails from parking/shed area. Depending on weather/season, it's sometimes muddy.

Weekend Trip to Locust Grove Waterfall
We stayed at Monica's on a multi state wide hiking trip as a brief in between. Really wish we could have spent more time tho! Of all our stays between Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York- her place was so special and memorable and our favorite. We had our very own waterfall and swimming hole and the entire place to ourselves. Monica was quick to respond to our questions and if I wasn't gate keeping her spot for our future stay, I would highly recommend her place to all of my friends!😆❤️

We loved our stay! Nice level surface to park the RV. Road is not busy at all, hours go by without any cars passing. The field and trails through the woods were super fun to explore and our dogs loved it. Site feels peaceful, private, safe. Hope to be back again!

Weekend Trip to Little Duck Farm
Liza and Dan have a really special little spot and it was a lovely stay. The camper was very cute, cozy, and full of everything you need and nothing you don't. We arrived just as the sun was starting to set and all the birds of the farm started to congregate, it was a delightful parade to catch.
Thank you for the hospitality and for sharing your family's space! Highly recommended.

I took my sons' camping at Magic Forest Farm this past weekend (8/21/26-8/23/26.) We stayed in site 1 which had plenty of space for our 8 person tent - big tent for three however, we bought it as we are a family of 5 and need the room. The site was clean and ready to go. fire pit was great with fire bricks that build the pit's foundation. lots of wood in the wood to pick up - kids went on a wood hunt and did not need anything else. Magic forest does sell wood - $1 a piece. picnic table on site was newer - great condition. it was quiet and relaxing. We walked for walks, kids went to check out the different animals including dominic the donkey, Vincent the horse, the peacocks, chickens and the goats. there are two porta-potties near our site. we checked out the yurt looked great - maybe next time. shower is rustic however, great addition. We forgot dish soap for dishes however, were able to rinse plates and other cutlery in the sink next to shower - all outdoor. Overall a great spot to camp. we will be back! Thank you, Joanne.

4 nights at Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat

Amazing place! So incredibly secluded..one might say it’s even clothing optional ;-) Between the expanse of land to explore, the gorgeous pond to swim in every day, and the blackberries/blueberries to pick, it was truly a magical time! It had all of the necessary amenities for a sweet glamping experience- AND THE SHOWER!! The outdoor shower with the forest view was supreme! Loved it. Will definitely be back :)

The site was so beautiful. The water was pristine! Quiet. It was everything we wanted. The layout with the other tents is crazy! I wish my daughters wanted to go! It was like a tent town! Thankful that they can't be rented out while we were there. Provides the privacy and stillness we prefer. The wagon accommodation is key. Electric in the tent was very helpful for my old phone and keeping the music going. Highly recommend! Maybe next year I can convince the family to come! Lol
