Nestled in a mature, private pine forest, this well cared for property boasts abundant wildlife and a network of walking, skiing and mountain biking trails which take you past wetlands, cliffs and a variety of forest types. They have all kinds of lodging options from a beautiful vacation cabin they rent, to an Adk lean-to, to a Treehouse, and primitive campsites. The camp was first built in 1905 by Dr. Goldsmith and family. The doctor and his family used the camp for summer vacations. During the winter the camp was rented out as winter hotel for loggers. Ice was harvested from the pond and stored in what is now one of the cabins. When our family bought the place, the hotel was falling down and the buildings were in disrepair. Geoffrey, the family caretaker, has spent the last few years cleaning up the site. All that remains now of the hotel is the chimney while the ice house has become a cabin and has been improved and ready for visitors. We have a double futon, small wood stove and gas burners for a cozy indoor experience. With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in the small cabin all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible Mid-May to the end of September. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Quaint, private campsite on babbling Adirondack brook for singles or couples only at our 180 yr old farm. Though we love children and critters, we created our campsite as a quiet private refuge for adults, couples or singles, no pets please. We can accommodate a tent, campervan or small tow behind camper ( less than 16 feet). Your private access off a two lane state road goes 200 feet through a mown meadow, down a short graveled incline to the edge of a lovely babbling brook. There are two gravel pads to choose from or set your tent up on the grass. There is "limited" 20 amp electrical power available, you can plug in your rig but it won't support all your 30 amp RV demands. There is an open air shower house with hot water, an outdoor kitchen with a sink and small refrigerator. The water in the sink/shower and hose bib is filtered brook water and NOT POTABLE !! We will supply a 5 gallon dispenser of drinking water for your use. When nature calls there is a very nice, very clean outhouse, complete with curtains. There is dry split campfire wood in the woodshed available for sale by adding cash to a lock box. It is a honest/honor system. There is a small deck with two vintage chairs overlooking a small waist deep plunge pool that is a great way to cool off on a hot day. There are also a couple of shady spots for a nap in your hammock. Our 15 acre homestead dates back to 1840. We live in the restored original post and beam Cape that is flanked by vintage barns and outbuildings. We are recently retired and have a small organic farm and woodworking shop. Our property is conveniently accessed by a two lane state road that goes through Saranac Lake (10 mi) on the way to Lake Placid(18 mi). The numerous local mountains, lakes and rivers provide limitless opportunities for outdoor recreation. Excellent bike routes can be accessed right from your campsite or you can drive to the new Adk Rail Trail or local Mtn bike areas. We live and work here, 500 ft from the site. We are, therefore, available to help with logistical issues and more importantly can recommend anything from backcountry rambles to fine dining and of course the best local brewpubs, one is 3 miles away. We can just as easily disappear... Please ask any questions you might have...

Note that this property is near Fort Drum, so sometimes you can hear their munitions practice in the distance.

Located in a hay meadow that is farmed 2 to 3 times a year to provide food for our animals. Next to the meadow is a mix of maple and pine trees. In the spring we use the maple trees for maple syrup production. Learn more about this land:This site is close to the road but easy to access. It is located where there was once an old stone barn, and all that is left is the stone foundation. Set around shrubbery trees, with two big maples at the parking spot to provide shade and coverage. You look out to an open hay meadow. That abuts our maple sugar stand with a mix of pine trees in the woods. You will be able to watch lots of deer frolic and play in the meadow and hear the sounds of the wildlife and birds around the woods. You may hear the occasional horse-drawn carriage as our neighbors are Amish and utilize the road frequently. In the distance, you might hear a stray moo as we have three farms on the road that are home to a variety of cows.On the campsite, you are more than welcome to bring a pet and let them safely roam around the field, or take a walk around yourself. If you are up for a farm adventure, please let us know we are more than happy to share our story and give a tour of our multifunctional farm, featuring dairy production, sheep, goats, cropping, and a few horses. In this unique spot, you will have convenient access to Route 11 and be a short 12 min drive to the town of Canton. Around us, we have a nature preserve that allows for walks and wildlife sittings, the Grass River where you can kayak and swim.

Our property was purchased and farmed by my ancestors in 1803. They cleared the meadow area of trees and rocks and established the stone wall, enclosing the area. A hemlock and pine forest at the edge of the meadow leads to our 50-acre wetland preserve which provides habitat for many bird and wildlife species. Native people also camped, hunted and trapped here in the early 1800s.Learn more about this land:Relax in a secluded meadow, wander through old Hemlock forest trails and watch many varieties of birds and other wildlife on 60 acres of wetland preserve. A very private spot with space for gatherings, tipis, tents, vans -- all are welcome.Absolutely beautiful night skies due to a lack of light pollution.Only 5 minutes away from the village, where you can pick up groceries and whatever else you need.Kids 12 and under can stay for free.
