This off-the-grid tiny house is nestled on a 23 acre parcel at the end of a quarter-mile dirt road. The property itself is secluded but is less than 2 miles from the heart of Saranac Lake's downtown. This property is bordered by the Saranac River, the backside of Baker Mountain and State Forest. The only other building on the property is our timberframe which we may or may not be at during the time of your visit. The property does have private trails up to the cliffs on the backside of Baker mtn however, the Saranac River is down a steep embankment so it does not make for a good place to launch a boat (several public boat launches nearby).
The Mt Baker tiny house is a great basecamp for hiking the Saranac Lake 6-ers, paddling/boating along the Saranac Chain of lakes or Saranac River, Mountain Biking at Dewey, Pisgah or other nearby BETA trails.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
This tiny cabin is completely off the grid: no electricity, heat or cooling.
Queen sized bed - we provide the linens.
The driveway is narrow - so nothing in tow.
Drinking water is provided via jug and dispenser.

Welcome to our Wilmington Terrace Barnyard! It's a half acre plot of land located behind my house "Wilmington Terrace Ranch" (on Air B+B). It's a quiet neighborhood on a dead-end street. We're in close proximity to copious hiking trails, mountain biking, fishing on the Au Sable river, 'the flume' swimming hole, pubs and restaurants, and nearby Adirondack towns including Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Keene.
Aside from the lean-to located in the back corner of the property, there is access to electricity and water, a fire pit and outdoor seating.

Our cabin is tucked away, bordered by NYS Forever Wild land to the south and west and few neighbors to the north and east. Built by a local doctor in 1924, this cabin was his family's summer home. He was also a talented watercolor painter and his original work is displayed throughout. We are only the third owners and we have been enjoying the cabin since the 80's. In the last 30 years we have introduced some creature comforts (hot/cold water, electricity) while maintaining its original charm. In a time where it is so hard to disconnect from the world, we offer a comfy bed, fresh air, starry nights, a fire and no cell service at the cabin.

Come, sit back, disconnect and relax in our unique cabin in the Adirondack Park. Our 100-year-old cabin comfortably sleeps seven. There are two small private bedrooms: one with a queen and the second with a full bed. The third room is open to the living room and features a bunk bed. Linens, blankets and towels are provided. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, a full-sized stove, refrigerator, microwave and farmhouse sink with hot and cold running water. The bathroom has a flush toilet, sink and tub with handheld shower. There is a pellet stove (pellets provided) in our kitchen/dining area and a wood stove (wood provided) in the living room. Both bedrooms have thermostat controlled electric heat.
The cabin is a true escape: no internet, no telephone and hit or (mostly) miss cell service. There is electricity if you need to recharge a device and there is a great sound system to Bluetooth your tunes.
Built by Dr. James Cormier in 1924, our cabin became a summer getaway for his family. He was also an artist and his original watercolors still adorn its walls. We are only the third owners in nearly 100 years and we have been building cherished memories there for decades. We have made improvements to the property while retaining its charm. There is one P/T neighbor who shares our driveway but the property provides privacy.
We are adjacent to a NYS Forest Preserve and surrounded by woods. The cabin is a short drive from Lake Placid and Saranac Lake and close to hiking the Adirondacks, canoeing in the St. Regis Canoe Area, close to the Six Nations Indian Museum and an easy drive to the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s College. For the water and fishing enthusiast a 3 minute drive or 10 minute walk brings you to the North Branch of the Saranac River, Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua. Local fishing, and hunting opportunities abound. The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area.
After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about.

As the name would suggest, Grand Isle State Park is located on an island. Of all the islands on Lake Champlain its home, South Hero, is the beefiest of the bunch, at 14 miles long and 3 miles wide. Not to worry, no paddling is necessary to get there. The park is easily accessible from Route 2, which runs right through South Hero and is only a 1/2-hour drive from Burlington. Grand Isle has the second largest state campground in Vermont, hosting many tent and RV sites, lean-to sites, and a few sweet cabin sites. Of its 226 acres, 4,150 feet run along the lake’s pristine shoreline where there are endless opportunities for recreation and relaxation.

You don't have to be an interpretive dancer (though it's probably recommended) to understand the helpful interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the Beaver Pond Nature Trail passes at Higley Flow State Park. Despite the otherwise heavily-wooded and hilly terrain, there is a sandy beach for swimming and plenty of leveled campsites so you won't roll your own little dam down stream. Take advantage of the many amenities this camp has to offer, even for winter visitors (ice fishing, anyone?), but be aware that they do allow hunting during certain peak seasons so be sure to check the calendar and throw the oranges in tow!

Walk Adirondack Acres Trail to the end and you will find a beautiful private natural beach on the shores of the Au sable River, which is well known for the best place in the world for fly fishing. We are pet friendly about a 15-20 minute walk from your car and all that is left is you and nature. We are right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains on the way towards Whiteface Mountain with spectacular views. Maple fields and Stewarts Shops both have full indoor bathrooms for the public.

We have it as a 15-20 minute Walk in depending on where you park. Wood is FREE off the land; we suggest bringing wood for the first campfire, if it has been raining. You can look for firewood on our land and we have it available where we Meet and Greet. Arnold's grocery, is a small mom and pop store with 375 different kinds of beer, wood, and local art. Maple fields grocery store and Stewart's stores also has gas, grocery, wood, and both have restrooms.
Meet and Greet area is where all campers can leave off their garbage and recyclables. Please don,t leave any garbage at site, thank you!

The cabin’s location also offers history buffs a chance to explore the impact of tuberculosis sanatoriums which served patients from the big cities in the early 20th century. Sites are available to explore within walking distance and a small museum in Saranac Lake is worth the trip. Lastly, there is a cool antique store within a few miles whose owner is always available for conversation about the area.
After a day of ADK fun, you can kick back around the fire ring (outdoor burning wood supplied) and take in the stars. If the weather isn't cooperating, stay in with a good book, play some card/board games or just spend some uninterrupted time with people you care about.

As the name would suggest, Grand Isle State Park is located on an island. Of all the islands on Lake Champlain its home, South Hero, is the beefiest of the bunch, at 14 miles long and 3 miles wide. Not to worry, no paddling is necessary to get there. The park is easily accessible from Route 2, which runs right through South Hero and is only a 1/2-hour drive from Burlington. You don't have to be an interpretive dancer (though it's probably recommended) to understand the helpful interpretive signs that describe the six distinct habitats through which the Beaver Pond Nature Trail passes at Higley Flow State Park. Despite the otherwise heavily-wooded and hilly terrain, there is a sandy beach for swimming and plenty of leveled campsites so you won't roll your own little dam down stream. Walk Adirondack Acres Trail to the end and you will find a beautiful private natural beach on the shores of the Au sable River, which is well known for the best place in the world for fly fishing. We are pet friendly about a 15-20 minute walk from your car and all that is left is you and nature. We are right in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains on the way towards Whiteface Mountain with spectacular views. Maple fields and Stewarts Shops both have full indoor bathrooms for the public.

Maple fields grocery store and Stewart's stores also has gas, grocery, wood, and both have restrooms.

Lori and Ray are the BEST hosts! The site is very well maintained, clean and spacious! Their driveway is wide enough to accommodate even a large motorhome. When you get here Lori and Ray will be there to welcome you and are a wealth of information to the area and all the things to see and do. The site is set up to easily reach everything from your water, power, sewer and trash. The property is very private but yet a stone throw from town and just a 30 min drive to Lake Placid, Plattsburgh etc and some of the best apple orchards in the United States! The views are stunning and hiking trails galore. If you come here expect to see lots of wildlife grazing nearby and the night sky is amazing.
We spent a month here and we can’t wait to come back, Ray and Lori were the perfect hosts, friendly, accommodating, and just the nicest people ever. Every year this will be our “go to place” and our hidden gem to escape every day life. We can’t recommend enough! They get five star rating from us!

Lori and Roy were fantastic hosts at Adirondack Magic. Upon arrival, they were very welcoming, and walked me through all the steps to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. They also provided me with information on what events were going on in the surrounding area which made me feel very connected to the surrounding community. After introductions, they were very respectful of privacy, and only reached out if there were important updates to be shared. They're proximity to the main hiking areas is so ideal, and its such a short drive into town to stock up on supplies if need be (hardware store, groceries, gas ect.). Lori and Roy even arranged an outing with myself and fellow campers, and drove us to a local brewery to enjoy some local beer, pizza and live music. such a fun experience! hope to be back soon!

We appreciated the privacy of our spot and the fact that there were hookups if we wanted them. The place is a bit hard to find at night (Google Maps and Apple Maps take you to different places), so recommend arriving while you still have some light.

We really appreciated finding such a nice site, with full hookups, in late October, when most all the regular campgrounds have closed for the season. We end up staying extra days, 4 days total, because of rain. Cozy spot. Still close to town for restaurants, laundry, groceries. Loved getting in a bike ride on the newly opened Adirondack Rail Trail, accessed just down the street.
Only negative, with the rain, the site called Forest View 1 got quite muddy. Too many campers have laid out big rugs, killing a large section of the grass. Otherwise, the sites are all grass.

Weekend Trip to Mt Baker Tiny Cabin
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sara & Matt’s cabin! It’s tucked away in the woods and feels private, but it’s still close to downtown Saranac Lake (4 min drive). Make sure you follow the directions provided, Google Maps wanted to bring us the wrong way (do not turn left down Ledge Lane). There are little HipCamp logo signs that help guide the way at the end of the Saranac Lane when it turns to dirt. The cabin was very clean and inviting. It was cold the first night as the cabin is not insulted or have heat, but between the blankets they provide and the blankets we brought we were comfy. Really appreciated having drinking water provided! We will definitely be booking a return trip to this cabin in the future!

Ted’s set up is the nicest place we have ever camped!! The hot shower and dish washing station was more than amazing. He provides everything you need to cook a meal & sit down to enjoy it. Lots of privacy despite being less than 5 minutes from down town Saranac Lake! The cabin is a great middle ground camping experience- no plumbing or electric but you still get the creature comforts of a bed. The blankets provided kept us warm despite low temps in the 40s. Only downside is the solar shower does not heat up when there’s no sun, but we made it work.

The pup & I had a wonderful weekend away on Cara’s land, it was just what we needed. Found it very peaceful & relaxing. There were two other campers setup but we were on the upper lot and had our own space.
All of the local trailheads were packed up so we just had a nice little walking adventure around Little Wolf Pond and it was so nice.
Site had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend away - power, water & sewer hookups as well as a fire pit, picnic table and Adirondack chair.
Definitely recommend to anyone especially this time of year, the colors around the pond were great! Thanks again!!!

Ted is an exceptional host with a lovely property that provides everything you could ever need for a lovely weekend camping. Show up with as little as a tent and some sleeping bags and Ted has you covered on the rest. This campsite has some of the best amenities I’ve ever experienced. From the hot shower to the stove, gazebo, and fire pit, Ted has got you covered.
The campsite is also in a beautiful woods with a lovely brook nearby and great walking paths for you to get your day started with. I couldn’t recommend a campsite more than this. We will most certainly be returning.

Weekend Trip to Camp Way Wild
Ken hosts one of the most incredible campsites I’ve had the pleasure of staying at, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s one of the kindest souls I’ve met too!
Make sure to bring a camera when you visit, the view is not something you’ll want to forget, nor the beautiful sites around the campground.
This is a must-stay, and I won’t be surprised if Ken ends up being booked year-round!!!
(Also, we recommend a car with higher suspension and four wheel drive as to make the trip up to the lean-to easier!)
