It’s hard to know where to start with this review, because this location is a true gem in every sense. I was taken back with how charming the forest was and how it changed character as you would visit all of the fun detours along the trail or come across unique art. The camping situation is wonderful, offering realistic accommodation such as water and other standard camping supplies like picnic tables in an area that would be hard to bring these things to. You will feel a true sense of seclusion and safety on the property. It is definitely a place that feels welcoming. I’m grateful that this place exists and is managed by a wonderful host. You wouldn’t regret enjoying a trip here.

This is a gorgeous property with amazing views from the top! Trails are carefully maintained so despite the heavy rain one can still walk easily. Sites are extremely private so you truly feel you are camping in the wilderness. The climb up is very steep so I would highly recommend you take advantage of the offer to haul your gear to the site, especially if you are a senior like me! Eben is a delightful host who goes out of his way to accommodate any needs or wants.

We had a fantastic experience staying at Oak Terrace at Hussey Mountain Tree Farm. The site was very clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully set up. The views were absolutely gorgeous — truly a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. There are so many things to do right on site, from hiking trails to peaceful spots for just unwinding. Despite being so quiet and secluded, it’s also conveniently close to town, which made it super easy to grab anything we needed. This place offers the best of both worlds: tranquility and convenience. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

We loved this camp site. Site two was a large size with the fire ring steps away from the wooden platform. Great to have the tarp over the platform as the rain fell. The river was raging due to the large amount of rain. Looking forward to returning when swimming is an option. So grateful for this beautiful piece of land. Will be back most definitely.

Staying at Bob's was perfect. I rode a bike in from Boston and it rained all weekend, but the provisions on site kept me dry (as can be). The river is very nice, I swam up and down a few times. Met Bob and Wilson and had a nice chat and gave some scritches, but definitely felt like they respected my privacy as well. If you like staying at state parks and the like, but feel like you'd enjoy something a little more off the grid and a lot more private, Sauhegan Shores is perfect.

Nick was very helpful and welcoming. This site had a great view and it was secluded. After several strenuous hikes, I used the sauna followed by a cold plunge in the river next to it. It was very refreshing. This is a lovely place and I’d totally recommend it!

1 night at Horseshoe Bend NH

We stayed @ the VERY private Site #1 (furthest upstream), and within minutes of arriving, a mature bald eagle took flight from a nearby fishing-spot tree. We tried our luck (none) @ fishing, threw the frisbee in the huge field, hammocked, and grilled fish/chips and baby knotweed over the open fire, followed by reflector oven apple crisp. Plenty of tenting options off the platform and easy access to the sparkling water, where there's a deep soaking pool for those hot summer days. Kevin is an excellent host and responsive to any inquiries. Would return to camp here in a nanosecond if the opportunity avails itself!

2 nights at Stagecoach Falls

Excellent camping experience! You’ll be sleeping just feet from the river and the sound of it rushing by in mid-spring really lulls you to sleep. Perfect placement of the fire pit, really nice to have a large gravel area when it rained a bit and not get all muddy, fresh water spigot and even electrical hook-up right on site. Despite the away-from-it-all feeling, there are actually a few good restaurants within 5 miles—including Hobbs Brewery. White Lake State Park is only 10 minutes away where you can rent canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Kevin has done a great job creating an excellent Hipcamp property. I really hope to be back!

The owner of the camp area was very kind and helpful. The view was very beautiful and the area was very clean. It is a peaceful place where you can feel safe.

Spring camping at our favorite place! We had a great time despite the rain, walked around the property and saw our first moose. The views and sites here are unbeatable.

Loved camping here. The entire place is well maintained, with thoughtfully distanced campsites that are large enough for groups and have easy access to the local trail network. Nick and family were friendly hosts whose dogs provide a warm welcome. The moose through the campsite on night 1 was an added bonus!

2 nights at Souhegan Shores

I loved our site at site 2. It had everything we would need and the river is right there, nice hearing it from our tent. The trails are easy to navigate. Bob is an excellent host and his attention details are awesome.

This land, now known by it's view gifting fields, is one of Sandwich's most treasured gems. The Historic Farm was purchased by Townsend Thorndike from the first colonizing family to claim ownership of this unceded land, the McCrillis family. It was Town's place to get away from the busy life. As time went on and his money dwindled and plans to sell off some of the land arose. Townsend's son, Nick, foresaw a devastating development of conventional homes that would diminish the soul of this sacred land that held so much magic. So, Nick decided to move back to the homestead to create an example of what a healthy life for the land and its inhabitants looks like. HipCamp was the first step towards sharing and opening up the land to create an Intentional lifestyle. One in which we hope to share our way of being that brings awareness to the natural world we have fallen so far from. Nick and his tribe of like minds are creating a holistic, educational, retreat, workshop, and event center where people can come to learn how to co-exist in a harmonious relationship with nature and each other. ATFS Certified Tree Farm Est. 2004 Camp with your group at our private Tree Farm / Conservation / Recreation Area. Established in 2004, we are an 87 acre ATFS certified Tree Farm located in the Blue Hills Range in the Foothills to NH’s White Mountains. Choose from one of four unique sites / outdoor spaces to best fit your camping needs; book a combination to reserve a section of the mountain, or book all four sites for total privacy or for events. Our Farm spans the northerly side of Hussey Mountain from the base to the summit. Guests are provided with private access to several miles of multi-use nature trails, multiple scenic lookouts, a three acre PYO blueberry maze, and a dock on our private eight acre pond with available boat rentals. At the 2WD shared parking area guests are provided with a outdoor shower with hot and cold water, a portable toilet, garden hose for washing, a power strip for charging devices, and a spigot with potable water for filling containers. Over two decades ago we created our first campsite for the purpose of hosting family and friends. Folks enjoyed camping on the mountain so much they often would choose our farm over traditional campgrounds. Hosting campers became a regular weekend event, and to accommodate more people we created three more sites spread out across the property. In 2020, we came across the Hipcamp app and started offering private reservations to the public. Since, we have been hosting campers on a daily basis and continuously improving our sites / infrastructure / views. We’re excited to see what the next two decades hold; come join us on the mountain! Things to do on the mountain SPRING-FALL include… Hiking on several miles of maintained nature trails marked with clear signage for easy day/night navigation. Relaxing/taking in the scenery from several scenic lookouts located on and around the mountain’s summit; combined they provide a 360-degree view spanning from the NH/ME Seacoast to the White Mountains of NH, to the Green Mountains of VT. Fishing, paddling, swimming, or relaxing on our dock. Bird/wildlife watching, berry picking, stargazing and leaf peeping. This is a place you can easily spend a few days and keep busy!

Souhegan Shores

Camp by the river bank of the Souhegan River under shade of oak, hickory, blue birch, hemlock and white pine. Let the song of the rapids sing you to sleep. Maybe the resident owls will join the serenade. This slice of heaven is only 5 minutes from the Everett Turnpike and within an hour from Boston. Weather concerns? The best forecast we've found for Merrimack is https://www.wmur.com/weather. Want to see what the river is doing? Check out https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/SOHN3. 500 CFS is a sporty run with canoe or kayak. SPECIAL NOTE: May 18th Update River is at a nice level for boating for experienced boaters. A little pushy for swimmers. Roads dried out nicely and are passable. More description... Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to our 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. Two horses graze on the other side of the privacy fence. If you don't like friendly dogs try site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from this corner of the property. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable in July and August. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

Sweet Song Acres

Sweet Song Acres is 100+ acres of secluded forest nestled along the Little Sugar River, at the base of Perry Mountain. Located in rural Unity, NH and Charlestown, NH, just across the Vermont state line. Southernmost point, located in Charlestown is one of two campsites. The other is Shady Grove, located in Unity. The two sites, located in bordering towns share the same entrance and are connected by a 1/4 mile trail. Both are very large sites. Campers would drive to both sites down a trail so we highly recommend a vehicle with decent clearance and 4WD or AWD. Southernmost Point is a fully drive-in site. Shady Grove campers park above the site and the campsite is down a short path, just a few hundred feet or so. The property consists of varied terrain of rock ledges, lush moss, streams, and panoramic views at the summit. There are many options of local outdoor activities in the area or if you prefer, just sit and "listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock your soul".
