The best beach camping in New Hampshire

·

Beach camping in New Hampshire isn't just along the coast—the Granite State boasts even more opportunities to camp on the water near its dozens of lakes, ponds, and rivers. While New Hampshire's ocean coastline spans only 13 miles, there are 288 miles of shoreline on the state's biggest lake alone, Lake Winnipesaukee, with several campgrounds along its shores to choose from. If you want to camp on the beach in New Hampshire close to the ocean, Hampton Beach is one of its most popular beach towns and full of attractions for the whole family. Get out on the saltwater with a boating adventure like deep sea fishing or whale watching, then stroll the famous boardwalk dotted with adorable souvenir shops, restaurants, and arcades. Make sure to stop in the cute little city of Portsmouth, where no visit is complete without a visit to the Friendly Toast for breakfast! You can also get your beach camping fix inland along the shores of the Saco River in North Conway, one of the most popular places to visit in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Campgrounds in this area have lots of options, from standard campsites made for your RV or tent to family-friendly cabins and glamping tents.

This is a 200 year old farm filled with life. There are well groomed areas and other more wild areas. We are on almost 13 acres of land that attracts all forms of natural wildlife. In addition, we have alpacas, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs, a cat and chickens. There is a beaver pond on the lower property. Each site includes a place to sit and eat (ie. picnic table), fire pit and just breathtaking views. Campers can drive into and park at their site. Each site is separate and private from other sites. We are 15 minutes from Highland Mountain Bike Park We are 15 minutes from BankNH Pavillon (concerts) We are 15 minutes from The Weirs in Laconia (Bike Week) We have two outdoor showers that are very rustic and open and the water is the temperature of the surrounding air (bring a bathing suit or something to shower in, there is no privacy fence at this time) This is an active farm that has an operating butcher shop on the premises. We have a farm store offering a variety of items for sale including eggs, honey, rubs and much more. There is a microwave available to the campers in the farm store as well. Each site will be given a bundle of fire wood on the house, additional wood is for sale. You are welcome to participate in farm work. Coffee (from a local NH roaster), tea, hot chocolate and potable water (from the faucet) will be available daily. We are a farm family with young children so large and rowdy or drinking parties are very heavily discouraged.

Grafton, NH · 10 sites
Riddle Hill Homestead is a family-run property on 24 acres in Grafton, New Hampshire, bordered by the Smith River and Manfeltree Brook. Our campsites are tucked into the woods, along field edges, and in the meadow, with a mix of open skies, tree cover, brook sounds, and quiet places to sit by the fire. We are a working homestead, not a traditional campground, but we try to make off-grid camping comfortable and welcoming. Campers have access to a community picnic and BBQ area, non-potable water, an off-grid shower area, and a real port-a-potty near the movie and community area. We also provide one gallon of drinking water when you arrive. Most individual sites include a portable camp toilet inside a small pop-up privacy tent. The Meadow sites do not, so please check the individual site description before booking. Most sites also have their own fire pit. The Meadow sites and Overnight Adventurer use community fire pits instead. Your first bundle of firewood is included, and additional bundles are available for $5. Our roadside Cookie Shop carries fresh-baked cookies, cold drinks, novelty ice creams, local products, eggs from our hens, snacks, and a small honor-system selection of camping basics and forgotten essentials when available. In October 2025, the shop was featured as the first stop on NH Chronicle’s Cookie Crawl. Friday Night Movie Night is one of our favorite summer traditions. Campers are welcome to bring a chair or blanket, grab a snack, and watch a family-friendly movie under the stars. Some nights also include a small market, kids’ activities, or other community events. (No movie August 14th) The Craft Cottage is our creative studio, where we host workshops, open studio time, blacklight paint parties, family activities, and seasonal events. Camping guests receive 15% off classes and workshops during their stay. You may also catch Michelle making glass beads or working on whatever project has taken over the studio that week. During normal rainfall, the brook is a nice place to wade and explore, though water levels depend on the season and weather. You can find upcoming workshops, movie nights, markets, and other events here: https://www.eventbrite.com/o/115906669741 Nature provides most of the background noise. You may hear hens announcing a freshly laid egg, Mister the rooster crowing, peepers, frogs, birds, crickets, the brook, or an occasional owl. We also have dark skies and quiet country evenings. The town beach and Northern Rail Trail are a short walk away. Hiking, lakes, mountain views, Ruggles Mine, and Haunting Whisper Vineyard & Spirits are also nearby. Please remember that Riddle Hill Homestead is a working rural property. Wildlife, farm animals, uneven ground, tall grass, changing weather, bugs, and country sounds are all part of the experience. Come for a quiet campsite, a creative weekend, a movie under the stars, or a fresh cookie by the campfire. We are glad you found us and hope you feel at home here.

We are excited to offer this amazing tipi camping experience on our working horse property. The tipi design is the basic Sioux design; the makers of our tipi were chosen to provide all the tipis for the movie Dances with Wolves because of their respect for authenticity and excellent craftsmanship. The tipi is 18' W x 15' H. Inside, it is roughly 16' in diameter and 13'2" high. It has a 6' entrance with a zippered door and mosquito mesh. There is mosquito netting around the top smoke flaps and a critter guard mesh that covers the bottom circumference where the tipi and floor meet. To keep things warm on those chilly nights or take the edge off the crisp morning air, there is a small wood pellet stove inside. There is a queen-size futon and plenty of space to sleep on the floor with your own sleeping bags or cots. The maximum occupancy is 6 people. The campsite setup is a mixture of Indigenous and Cowboy Western culture. It features a dining area close to the tipi with a picnic table. You can relax at the fire pit area beside the Kampfire Cauldron (handmade on-site!) and enjoy cookouts, campfires, and great conversations with friends and family while listening to the calm waters of Giles Brook a few feet away. Firewood is included in your stay. An outhouse is also located nearby, so you don’t have to entirely "rough it." Potable water can be provided if you do not bring your own. Local activities include: hiking trails, parks, lakes, horseback rides, kayaking, fishing, motorsports, relaxing by the creek on-site, axe throwing, range, skiing/tubing, and so much more!
