Great campsite! Paid for the firestarter kit and firewood and both were waiting for us when we arrived. A few other campsites were in view of our site but not too close. Wish we could have stayed longer to meet the farm animals!

Weekend Trip to Hussey Mountain Tree Farm

Came for a weekend stay with my boyfriend and our three big dogs — we loved camping here! It was a beautiful weekend all around. Our dogs were off-leash the entire time and truly lived their best lives. Eben was the BEST host. We slept in the clouds, woke up to stunning views, snacked on the berry bushes around camp, hiked to the summit, snapped some unforgettable photos, and had an epic bonfire with a jaw-dropping overlook. Best of all? We read books and napped in the hammocks — the perfect way to enjoy the mountain breeze and escape the July sun. There’s a short (0.3 mile) hike to get to the site — it’s steep but well-maintained. We actually liked the little challenge and appreciated the workout before diving into full-on lounge mode with s’mores and snacks. We’re already planning our next trip back. Can’t wait!

Weekend Trip to Streeter Mountain Farm

We had a nice 2 night stay in the area. Check in was very easy and got a brief tour of the area before settling into our car camping spot. (If car camping, take it slow on the hill as there are a few dips that may scratch). All in all, nice stay and would come back! Thank you for having ua!

4 nights at Hussey Mountain Tree Farm

Such a cool spot! The RV site is pristine and has a fantastic setup with extras like tables, string lights, sink etc that are so helpful. Eben is a great host, gave us tons of ideas of things to do on the property as well as nearby. The property is SO cool, we spent an afternoon exploring the mountain - it's clear he takes incredible care of his land, the trails are well maintained and marked, the blueberry patches were SO amazing, and we got to check out the tent sites which also had fantastic setups with lots of extras. We had a great time!

2 nights at Hussey Mountain Tree Farm

This was our 3rd time back to Hussey Mtn. Site 4 is our spot. My son and I have been able to create good memories each visit and the 3rd stay was just as good as the first two. Ebon, the property owner, is always available to answer q’s and he consistently adds nice touches to the property every year. Everything is well maintained and great attention to detail. He knows what campers need on site to be comfortable. So, chalking another trip on the board. Reserve a site and see for yourself.

3 nights at Green Mountain Glamping

Betsey's camp site was perfect for my solo personal retreat. It was restful to come to a beautiful campsite that was already set up for sleeping and eating - laying in a hammock, or sitting by a fire! The other campsites nearby made it feel like a small campground. It was quiet and peaceful. Nearby activities which I enjoyed: hiking Mt. Pisgah, swimming in Lake Willoughby, biking Kingdom trails.

This was the perfect, little getaway for us. The location is good, very scenic, lots of trails, swimming and close to downtown Wilmington. The campsite was very clean, inviting and beautiful. Super dog friendly. Stephany was a very sweet and accommodating host. We would love to visit again.

We loved this site! Eben was super friendly and helpful and he really did think of everything for the RV site. The hiking was beautiful, and the tent sites all looked very well set up also. We will definitely be back.

Betsy was an amazing host. Everything was thought through, very clean and comfortable mattress and great lighting. She even put hot water in the shower basin in the afternoon so it was a perfect temp when you needed it after biking. They have built some fun jumps on the land which was entertaining for my kids. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog.

Betsey has created the most beautiful sanctuary space on her property with Green Mountain Glamping. The Pine Haven canvas tent was perfect for my family of four! The tent was so cozy and comfortable and we all slept so well! A major bonus was the hammock. We didn't have room in our car for all of our camping gear along with our bikes, so Pine Haven was just the answer. I so appreciated the French press to make coffee along with all the necessary dishes. We highly recommend Betsey and Green Mt Glamping!

Souhegan Shores

Maybe the resident owls will join the serenade. This slice of heaven is only 5 minutes from the Everett Turnpike and within an hour of Boston. Weather concerns? The best forecast we've found for Merrimack is https://www.wmur.com/weather. Want to see what the river is doing? Check out https://water.noaa.gov/gauges/SOHN3. 500 CFS is a sporty run with canoe or kayak. Anything under 200 is great for swimming with kids. SPECIAL NOTE: June 22th Update River has dropped to 200 CFS which means it's at a nice level for both swimming and boating. Roads are passable. We just had campsites and surrounding trails sprayed for mosquitos and are seeing a sharp improvement on those pests. Keeping the campfire burning helps as well. More description... Site-1 is located under the trees adjacent to our 3 acre meadow and Christmas Tree farm. Camp near the bank of the Souhegan River in the shade while listening to the river tumble over the ledges upstream. In season, enjoy the chest deep swimming hole 100 feet from your campsite. Two horses graze on the other side of the privacy fence. If you don't like friendly dogs try site 2 where we have a better chance of keeping our dog Wilson from dropping in to visit. He loves people too much not to want to greet folks on Site 1. Site-2 is at the farthest most downstream end of the property and from mid-May to mid-October it is totally screened by foliage. From your site you only see trees and the river. If you don't like other dogs, this is the site you want. Still no guarantee Wilson won't visit, but it's easier to keep Wilson away from here. The other side of the river is town conservation land so the only people you're likely to see will be passing by in kayaks or on paddleboards. In dry season, both sites are a great place to start a float trip and you'll likely have the next 1.5 miles all to yourself since rapids up stream become impassable wet rocks in July and August. You are only two traffic lights away from the Merrimack Premium Outlet Mall if you need something to do during inclement weather.

A beautiful island campground thickly forested with spruce, fir, and birch, Four Acre Woods was created over 60 years ago on Sunshine Island, Maine. Under the name Sunshine Campground, it hosted people from all over the world and delivered the spirit and essence of this ancient, abundant land that so many ancestors had roamed and celebrated before. It was open to the public through to the 90s, but then sat alone for 15 years, waiting for someone to revive it and bring it back to the world. Then one day, Caleb and Wolf met on a bus, heading south from Down East Maine, where they instantly connected and joined forces. They worked together redressing a home in Stonington for visitors to experience and became brothers while doing so. Eventually, the presence and opportunity of the campground caught their attention and after working out the technicalities, they worked together to bring this beautiful land and campground back to the people under its new life and name, Four Acre Woods. Our cabin is an off grid post and beam structure that we built 8 years ago. It's has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There are jugs provided for doing dishes etc and a large (150 gallon) tank outside for refills. There are a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Big Moose Inn Cabins & CampgroundIrving O. Hunt and his brother Lyman built some rough camps on Millinocket Lake before they became interested in the Nesowadnehunk Stream region. Whether or not their old camps were at the same site as the present camps on Millinocket Lake we do not know.The Millinocket Lake Camps, known today as Big Moose Inn, are located on a narrow spit of land separating Ambejejus Lake and Millinocket Lake. Before a dam controlled Ambajejus’ water level, it was possible to pole up the short stream from Millinocket Lake into Ambejejus.Fred Spencer build the camps, originally named Camp Eureka, in 1899 or 1900 and ran them with his brother. With the founding of Millinocket only a few years earlier and lumbering roads nearing Katahdin, the two lakes became more easily accessible. Camp Eureka was advertised as the only camp reachable by both boat (from Norcross) and road (from Millinocket). In 1905, the rate was $1.50 per day, meals included. Spencer also claimed the lakes had no flies or mosquitoes during spring and summer- a phenomenon caused by the way winds blow across the lakes, which makes it difficult for insects to gain a foothold.The camps’ name changed to Camp Spencer and later to Spencer’s Camps. Around 1929 the lease was transferred to Elmer Woodworth, who lived with his wife on a nearby island while they operated the camps. Elmer, a well-known guide, trapped over the winter, and his wife served as the camp cook. The couple soon renamed the camps Millinocket Lake Camps and Trading Post. They also maintained an outlying camp on Sandy Stream for their guests. In 1941, a major fire broke out in the area. The Woodworths saved the camps by wetting them down, but lost their island home when a stray spark jumped the cove. There is some evidence that, for a short time, a gentleman named Johnny Given either held the lease or managed the camps for the Woodworths. Except for that brief change the Woodworths operated the camps for many years until they passed the lease on to their son Ray, who ran them with his wife Muriel.In 1977, the lease was transferred to Bob and Frederica (“Teddy”) Boynton, who in 1981 sold the trading post to Erwin and Maureen Bacon. The Boyntons retained the sporting camp operation and later added a public restaurant. Teddy renamed the camps Big Moose Inn. Bob and his son Bruce made many renovations to the camps, while Teddy decorated and furnished them. The Boynton Family has remained involved in the success of the inn and restaurant. After Teddy’s death in 1991, management passed to Bruce and his sister Laurie, but Bob and other family members are still very involved.The dam separates the flowages of the two lakes. Millinocket Lake is about eight feet above its original level, and Ambajejus is now some 21 feet above its original level. Old Quarry Campground is on the site of an old granite quarry. We have 13 tent sites, each outfitted with a 12x12 tent platform, fire ring, and picnic table. Two of the 13 sites are ocean front, and 3 of them are RV accessible. Our campground has many ocean based activities including rental kayaks, canoes, sailboats, SUP's, and motor boats. We have certifed kayak guides and sailing instructors on staff who can take inexperienced boaters out on guided trips. We also have charter boat trips out to see many kinds of wildlife, to swim in a fresh water swim quarry, and to haul lobster traps. If you are up for an adventure, Old Quarry is the place to be.

The campground runs along the Moose River and is right at the mouth of the river where Big Wood Pond flows into it. We have very good fishing and boating with a boat launch big enough to accommodate a pontoon boat right at the campground. There's also an extensive trail system for recreational vehicles of all types including but not limited to trucks, jeeps, ATV, UTV, snowmobiles ect. There's also a seaplane business that operates out of the boat landing on the campground. They offer scenic plane rides though the mountains and remote fishing trips on ponds that are normally inaccessible the normal foot traffic. Tickets can be purchased upon request.
