Green Island is an unexpected pine forest located actually inside a small town in northcentral Minnesota. The camping area is remarkably private and surrounds a small pond. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond patio furnature and hand pumps for water. By local codes, it can host only truly small adventure camper vehicles that are self-contained. The campground is a large semi-shaded space yet we limit to four vehicles. We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party. Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes. This is an excellent staging point for outdoors folks on their way to camp or canoe the forests and lakes of northern Minnesota.

Unless you have a 20’ plus cord and don’t mind parking close to the garage. WiFi available near the house. Or get away from all the static in field of dreams. This ranch was established in 1907 and the outbuildings still need work, as well as public bathrooms which we can only offer by Porta potty for $100/day which is what we are charged. This is our first year offering camping to the public, so bear with us and help support a good cause so we can continue to add amenities here. There’s endless miles of absolutely beautiful motorcycle & trail riding out here! Funds help us continue to raise awareness to addiction & suicide and bring support to those who have been affected by either.

Nice spot! David was a great host, very nice, easy to communicate with and took time to show me around. I didn't spend time in the barn, but it'd be a good place to hang out, especially if weather wasn't great.

We were on the last leg of our 5750 PNW trip and this was our last night on the road. Day 44. Awesome last night in a very cool spot. Love the space and would stay again when in the area!!

Mikko Kamp is a long time favorite of ours. Close to several amazing places-Nevis, Walker, Itasca. It feels like the wilderness and you can go have a burger and a beer in a -5 minute drive. 🙂

Love this place. Great property and amenities. David is really a great guy. Plenty of room. Other campers were super friendly. Dave has a barn he’s converted into a communal space. Great to play ping pong, number pool or just chill and read. My only regret is that I had to leave to get to my next destination.

Weekend Trip to RV There Yet Campground

The sites are big and we had plenty of room for our 30' 5th wheel and wheeler/trailer. Allen is a fantastic host and even met us at moments notice when we asked if it was alright to check in early. The grounds are very quiet. Allen supplied firewood, a full water jug for extinguishing the fire and plenty of space to roam. A huge plus was the dump station! Can't wait to tell our friends and come back again next year!!

What a nice camp ground. Caretaker was assume. Very friendly made sure we were informed about dump station fresh water where the portable potties were and nice clean garbagecontainers. He has fire wood cut and kindling at each camp site nice picnic table there. Has emergency water handy at the site for fire extinguishing. Fresh pottable water with a hose. Absolutely quite, CLEAN campground. Very easy to reserve on line we had cell service there. We will come back many more times. Thank you.

We camped with a small camper parked along a line of trees. The place was beautiful, quiet and located on the base of Detroit Mountain where there were many hiking & biking trails. David was an incredible & welcoming host. The barn was magical with mood lights and comfortable places to relax and socialize. I would camp there again.

Great experience. Allen met me at the campground to show me my campsite. Very nice host and communication throughout was spot on. Very spacious, well maintained and surrounded by trees. The property is a bit off the highway - far enough for privacy but the cars and trucks you do hear. My site #101 was the closest to the road. More spots were available further in. A large property to walk around, the site had everything for a nice campfire and the night sky was truly amazing!

It was private, quiet and beautiful. We had a large group with several campers and the owner was amazing at helping us fit everyone, get situated and even chipped in to help set up a couple times! It was a great place to camp and I recommend it as well as will be staying there again!
