This ranch was established in 1907 and the outbuildings still need work, as well as public bathrooms which we can only offer by Porta potty for $100/day which is what we are charged. Green Island is an unexpected pine forest located actually inside a small town in northcentral Minnesota. The camping area is remarkably private and surrounds a small pond. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond patio furnature and hand pumps for water. By local codes, it can host only truly small adventure camper vehicles that are self-contained. The campground is a large semi-shaded space yet we limit to four vehicles.
We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party.
Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes.
This is an excellent staging point for outdoors folks on their way to camp or canoe the forests and lakes of northern Minnesota.

From the very beginning Russell was great to work with! He answered all of our questions in a timely manner. He was always polite and helpful with suggestions of places in the area. His communication was amazing! He let us know about the wildlife on the property. He told us there was a killdeer birds nest in the grass which was helpful so we’re able to avoid it with our dogs.. We stayed there for Memorial weekend and had a great time. It was peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed kayaking off the dock they had. We enjoyed sitting around the camp fire. We all enjoyed being at Russel’s place. We would go again in a heart beat. Only thing to watch out for would be one of the neighbors dog, a German Shepard. He was really sweet and friendly, just startled us every time because he was so quiet. You would look over and he would be standing there like he was part of the group hanging out. There is plenty of room to play yard games. It was a great getaway. Thank you Russell for having us!!

The land is very beautiful. You have a beautiful view of the lake. It’s very private. There are other campers there, but they’re far away from you. The only drawback is you have to take your trash with you. But I believe it was worth it. Good price for what you get.
