We would like to take a moment and introduce ourselves. Our names are Tom and Heather Holmstrom. We were married in 2016 and have four children as part of our blended family. We are both originally from the Upper Peninsula. Superior Times Resort and Campground was the result of us wanting to do something “outside of the box” that would allow us to raise our family and show them there is more out there than the traditional path. We also wanted showcase our love and respect for the beauty of the Upper Peninsula; the area that many refer to as “God’s Country.”
In December of 2016, we mistakenly pulled into the driveway of this property. At that time, it was known as Coleman’s Paradise Resort. There was a For Sale sign marking the property. We both knew at that point our fate was sealed to become this property’s new owners. We learned that this property had been a family vacation destination for nearly 100 years. We could only imagine the special memories that had been made here over the years! We wanted to become a part of that deep history.
Through the many years of the resort’s history, the owners had changed and the cabins were showing true signs of their age. We knew there was A LOT of work that simply had to be done. On a wing and prayer, we somehow made this great resort ours. In April of 2017, we opened what we named Superior Times Resort and Campground. We pulled up or sleeves and went to work!
Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to be part of the memories that you create here. We know that you work hard for your own money, as we do. Knowing that you chose our resort to support, means a lot to our Superior Times and Resort family team. We truly appreciate your loyalty and give special thanks to our returning customers. Innumerable beautiful hiking and nature walks surround our site, including Wisconsin's treasured Van Vliet 400 acre Hemlock Preserve - one of the largest old-growth Hemlock forests in the country. We are just one hour south of the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park.
Docking is included for campers and available for non-campers at a daily rate. Our site is situated on one of the most prized lakes for muskie fishing.
Enjoy sunny days swimming at the lake beach, activities and crafts for children with our camp hosts, and community campfire song night.

Experience breathtaking serenity on this entire 3-acre property, ready and waiting just for you! Electric hookups—including 30-amp, 50 amp, and standard 110V outlets—are now FREE with your nightly stay.
There’s a gated, level gravel pad (45x60 feet) perfect for parking your RV or motorhome. Prefer to tent camp? Feel free to set up on the grassy area nearby. A dead-end seasonal private road leads to this secluded spot—please note the road is not plowed during winter. Important: Please park only on the designated gravel pad; parking elsewhere is not allowed.
The property has no running water or restrooms, so tent campers, please bring your own portable restroom.
Enjoy 232 feet of stunning Lake Huron shoreline where you can relax, play, and soak in the views. Strawberry Island is clearly visible, and you can watch ships come and go right from the shore. Cell service is available on site, check your carrier's map.
If you bring your furry friends, be sure to clean up after them. And if you smoke, please don’t toss butts on the ground—you’ll be charged a cleaning fee for cigarette litter.

STUNNING PROPERTY!!!
Communication with Eli was prompt and efficient. All directions were very clear and thorough.
Road was plowed until the house just after the Surf Camp. The site itself was not plowed, but we were able to tuck the truck under some trees with little snow to get off the road.
Directions with sauna were very clear, thoroughly enjoyed the wood fired sauna! We used about 1.5 bundles to get it heated up in cold and snowy conditions.
We did not need the privy.
Property felt very private in the winter. Pups had the beach to themselves.

GORGEOUS PROPERTY!!
There was some firewood at the property, but it was far too windy to justify a fire.
Clear expectations for winter camping. Campsite was not accessible - road not plowed all the way to site. If road was plowed to the site, the site would’ve been accessible - there was very little snow actually at the site. Didn’t bother us to park at the adjacent property. Access to property is only available when coming from the north - road coming from south is not plowed.
Neighbors are close by on one side, but we did not encounter anyone.
We were also traveling with two pups - they loved having the beach to themselves!

Second time here with a mixed experience
We are winter camping in our van and owner said he wouldn’t be able to get up there to see the snow conditions but we could park on road, cool, sounds good.
We get there and the plow stops before the property. 3ft wall we couldn’t pass. We wound up talking to the neighbors and some random man was in their home when they got there. Crazy! So naturally it felt super uncomfortable to ask if we could camp for the night right up to their driveway.
Turns out the owner of the camp spot was already there that day, knew about the plow issue and just didn’t tell us 🤷🏻♀️
That unusual experience did not take away from the stunning beauty this plot has to offer. The lake was frozen, dead silent and as the sun came up the lake came to life and you could hear all the water rushing underneath. Easily a locked in memory that I will never forget. Stars were amazing as always.

Really cool spot! Host said we could take any site since we were the only ones there! It was too dark to find the beach site but after walking over to it, it was beautiful. Highly recommend if you need to stay in the area!

Great getaway not too far from home but far enough to feel like an escape! The site was secluded yet still close to nearby towns for anything needed. Having electric hookups was a major plus. Perfect spot for a quiet adult getaway.

Kathy was amazing! We decided to take a chance and tent camp in late October. The site is very peaceful and she built firewood up for our first fire upon arrival. We left many things behind on the days we traveled to fish or hike with no worries. The river and woods are peaceful. Appreciate the water she leaves to clean hands and cookware! Look forward to returning and camping next year. Thank you Kathy and Randy!

Such a beautiful, peaceful spot right on Lake Michigan! Tucked into a quiet cedar grove on the Garden Peninsula, the site offers a rare combination of off-grid tranquillity and direct access to the shoreline of Lake Michigan. The new wood-fired sauna was an absolute highlight, the perfect way to warm up after a swim! Waking up to the sound of waves, relaxing by the fire at night, and a true off-grid vibe. The fire-pit area in the trees provides a cosy, sheltered setting for an evening under the stars. There has been a lot of care put into this place.
If you’re looking for a beach-camp experience that feels more intimate and upgraded (thanks to the sauna!) rather than a busy campground, this spot is highly recommended. Ideal for folks who want to unplug, still have beach/morning water access, and enjoy a little extra luxury in the wild.

Fantastic little spot. The homestead was great with having power and a nice cozy setup. A real treat was waking up in the morning and seen the horse is grazing around us. The house were super friendly and great to talk to. Location wise it was perfect proximity to mountain bike trails everywhere. Especially close to the LSPR rally briefing.

We loved our stay at Hole 1 very much! It was so quiet and peaceful. Portajohn was super clean. Hosts were very kind. Did a small walk from our campsite but could have spent more time to explore the trails around it because the fall colors were beautiful.

Great location and bring your mountain bikes! Joni and Phil were very welcoming. The sights were private and spacious. We were in our camper van and had plenty of room next to a fire pit and picnic table. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone. What we didn’t know about was all the wonderful bike trails adjacent to the property. We did have our mountain bike and took advantage of.

Such a beautiful property with walking trails throughout. The fall colors were at peak and it was lovely & peaceful. Phil and Joni were wonderful hosts -- the kind of people that makes your stay even better. Both were very kind and fun to chat with.
I mustn't forget to mention their sweet dogs. The little one, Becky, was my little guy's new best friend. And Silver - what a gentle soul. The beautiful black Collie is a bit stand-offish, but she finally let me pet her.
If you're lucky, the two horses will visit you at your campsite.
Heritage Hills is truly a gem. 💕
