Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Wild Yough property is to your right along the river and there is a great place for lying in the sun, doing some fishing, or just wading into the cool waters of the Yough on a hot summer day.Learn more about this land:The idea is simple- our glamping site will offer a true camping experience without all the hassles and fuss. We began operating our 150 acre farm in 2011 and became the first Certified Naturally Grown Livestock farm in West Virginia in 2013. We raise 100% grass-fed beef, Western and Chinese medicinal herbs. We are also 20 minutes from Herrington Manor State Park (MD) were there is a lake for swimming, fishing, and canoeing. Cathedral State Park (WV) a virgin Hemlock forest with 400 year old trees about 45 minutes away. Deep Creek Lake (MD) is 40 minutes away and offers motor boat rentals, Golf, Skiing and swimming. There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The best white water rafting on the east coast is 20-40 minutes away.Farm products are available for purchase on-site. Campers can choose to to have a farm to table meal cooked for them as an extra at checkout. We prepare most of our food from scratch using local produce, meat and bulk organic dry goods. This property and farm has been in our family for 3 generations. In 1964 my grandfather started the campground due to limited camping at New Germany. My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Landscaping, electric upgrades and bathhouse remodels were completed Spring 2021. We will continue to renovate in phases it's been a labor of love, but you can still see the beauty of this rural location and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Lots of trees, shade and nature. It's located near New Germany State Park, 1.5 miles by car, less than a mile by foot. The state park has a lake and hiking trails. Garrett County has so much to offer, waterfalls, lakes, hiking, skiing, Amish gifts, history, fresh air, beautiful scenery. The campground was first started in 1964 by my grandparents, we are currently completing renovations in phases.

This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Read the entire narrative on the cabin (Tiny Fern House) before booking.

We had an amazing 3-night stay at Camp Spot RF2! The site is very spacious and can comfortably fit 2–3 tents. Being right by the river made it extra special — the views are beautiful and so peaceful.
We also got lucky and joined a community get-together, which was such a nice experience meeting friendly people. The porta potties were clean, and everything felt well-maintained.
Overall, a really relaxing and enjoyable stay. Would definitely love to come back again!

The site was quiet and secluded. There were other campers in the other site, but I couldn’t see them through the trees. The sites are separated by a small pond, trees, and a ravine. Tommy is super nice and checked in on his bicycle a few times to make sure I didn’t need anything. I’ll definitely be going back.

Stayed here over this past weekend and was very impressed. Price was very reasonable and accommodations were significantly better than expected - everything was very nice and included an excellent grill, good furniture/bedding, and a kitchen stocked with the essentials (pots, pans, utensils, coffee makers [Keurig and regular coffee pot], and so on). The cabin itself is at the end of the other lodges - so it's a bit more private - which is also nice.
Additionally, when we first arrived the hot tub was not hot. I called the front desk, and they came out with 30 minutes and fixed the issue, and it warmed up by evening. Great service and the staff were super friendly.
Also, the river is only about 30 feet away from the cabin. We did lots of fishing and it was awesome to have it so close to our location.

I had a great time at Brooklyn Heights riverfront campground! The property is beautiful & well maintained. I was greeted as soon as I arrived by Vince, & Hendricks they were very friendly & accommodating. I would highly recommend BHRC to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway! I will be returning one day in the future myself! There’s lots of lodging options, rv & tent sites! & $12.50 for a wheelbarrow of firewood! I could go on & on about this wonderful place, so if you’re thinking about visiting, do it! You won’t regret it!!

We loved the privacy of this spot for camping with our 2 dogs. The trains ran often and we enjoyed watching them. This spot was easy to find, felt secluded enough, yet convenient to Confluence for last minute munchies, walking the bike trail with the dogs and driving 20 mins to OhioPyle for beautiful hiking.
The porta potty was spotless and the picnic tables came in handy.
It’s Early spring and the leaves weren’t on the trees yet, yet it still felt very private from the road behind us and the bike trail.
The road by the trains ( across the river) was busier than what we expected, but with more leaves on the trees, I expect you wouldn’t notice the cars as much and it’s a worthwhile trade off to have this little gem of a camping spot to ourselves!
We will definitely choose this spot again for camping whenever we’re staying in the area.

Great place. Very secluded. Bathroom was clean. No luck with fishing but not a big deal. Dogs loved being off leash. If you have a dog that loves to find cow poop be prepared. There was no cow poop at site or path to bathroom though. Didn't smell at all.

The site was clean upon arrival and even though the site is right off the road, there is still plenty of land that makes it feel secluded. We came during early spring so the trees were still winterized, but we will definitely be going back during the summer when it’s green and full. The blue lake was beautiful and was amazing for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Also, the owners are super friendly. We will definitely be visiting again!

I lived tent camping here!!! The views are beautiful, the water is beautiful! And the out house was very well kept! I felt very safe.

Jim’s campsite was awesome. Just a short walk to a beautiful creek, and the whole site felt private and peaceful. Everything was clean and well kept, which made the stay even better. Our doxin loved running the paths that were cut through the property. My wife and I had a great time and will definitely be back!
