Hello Campers! Our property is 16.5 acres, two of which are along the Tygart Valley River and the rest are within forest canopy on the mountainside. We are in the low foothills of the Appalachia. There are 300+ acres of public land less than one mile away with miles of ATV and hiking trails and stocked ponds. If you're a fan of waterfalls just 4 miles down river is Arden Falls, one of our areas best kept secrets. The Tygart Valley River is one of the top kayaking rivers in the country. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata.

The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches.

There is skiing, hiking, biking, tubing, rafting, kayaking and much more to explore within 40 minutes of our farm. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Read the entire narrative on the cabin (Tiny Fern House) before booking.

The fields have some groundhog holes, and we would be devastated if your dog was running and broke a leg if a leg slipped in a hole. We just want them safe.
B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

Hello Campers! Our property is 16.5 acres, two of which are along the Tygart Valley River and the rest are within forest canopy on the mountainside. We are in the low foothills of the Appalachia. We have 4 riverfront sites and we are continually changing our space around This year we will be adding a tiny house on site 4 and a sweatlodge with soaking pool on Site 1 additional camping spots along the property near outhouse
Each site is equipped with a steel fire pit/grill and a picnic table. We have been busy building hiking trails and more primitive campsites on the 14.5 acres on the hillside across the road from the riverfront for all to enjoy.
Step outside your tent and enjoy natures bounty —outdoor activities including fishing, kayaking, hiking, bird watching are all at your fingertips and much more. There are 300+ acres of public land less than one mile away with miles of ATV and hiking trails and stocked ponds. If you're a fan of waterfalls just 4 miles down river is Arden Falls, one of our areas best kept secrets. The Tygart Valley River is one of the top kayaking rivers in the country. Audra State Park is less than 20 minutes away with lush forest trails with caves to explore. Well known hiking trails such as Seneca Rocks, Spruce Knob, and the Dolly Sods are all within an hour drive. Go to Nelson Rocks for the ultimate climbing experience on the Via Ferrata.

Be cautious of wildlife and look for WARNING signs. We have a private shooting range in the bottom fields of the property so you may hear gun shots April- September. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches.
For winter months Oct-April water supply will be limited. A propane heater can be requested as well for the the yurt.

The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Read the entire narrative on the cabin (Tiny Fern House) before booking.

B- Awww poop! Alot of people use the camping area as a barefoot area so please clean up their poop.
3. Quiet time after 10PM: This just means no screaming. Play your guitar and sing until the sun rises if that makes you happy.
4. Alcohol: We would prefer you skip the drinks and just get high, but if your soul needs a drink please drink responsibly. (Don't be that guy)
5. Yurt comes down the end of September for rental.

I had a great stay here! The hosts greeted me with a sweet birthday bag, which was such a thoughtful touch. The yurt itself was spacious, clean, and had all the amenities you could need, including cooking pans and utensils. I especially enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub while listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. Check-in instructions were clear and easy to follow, and they even included directions to the yurt, which made everything seamless. Overall, a wonderful stay. Highly recommend!

My fiance and I (along with our two dogs) booked the Yurt for our of stay while we explored the beautiful mountains of WV after a fresh coat of snow. We had booked our stay during the middle of a significant winter storm and delayed our drive. We messages Shawn and Catherine and they were very quick to respond back to us while we figured out our travel plans. They even started the pellet stove so that we could get some much needed warmth in the well-beyond zero temperatures outside.
Our Yurt was very well maintained and came with all the necessities for our stay. We enjoyed the Roku TV they have set up so you can cozy up in bed or on the pull-out futon. We also got to have the experience of going out to our hot tub while the wind chill was in the negatives! Check out was very easy and Shawn and Catherine gave use plenty of instruction for our check in and check out.
Overall, I think this may have been one of our best “camping” experiences. This was our first time staying in a Yurt as we typically stay in a dome. The pellet stove was an absolute necessity and we had more than enough fuel to fight the cold. Shawn and Catherine were fantastic hosts and we look forward to our next stay here!!

1 night at Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp
If I could give 100 stars I would. This location is on a dead end Street on a beautiful river. They have many acres and it will look like you are going to nowhere but you are going somewhere Awesome! I went in early January, snow on the ground when I arrived..I was in a very low car and still arrived safely. The roads were clean, even if narrow, which is to be expected in the area. Mountain roads are a great experience! I was staying just one night on a trip that I wish I had more time to stay here on! The campground itself is described as primitive maybe because of the amenities, but I had close to everything needed and was advised to bring stuff that wasn’t provided. So I was good to go. I booked the heated and electric supplied tiny cabin specifically because I knew I would be traveling in January and needed to recharge. The temperature overnight was I think in the 40s, my little heater ran all night long. I had blankets and I was comfortable. At one point I was actually hot. A overnight rainstorm washed away most of the snow and any threat of ice and then the next morning was absolutely stunning! Fire Island and the river access and the buses and the teepee look like something I want to do in the spring or summer! The coffee hut was open 24 seven and the firewood was plentiful. I had the entire place almost to myself with the exception of the “staff/owner”. But I was completely able to self check in and stay independently. Vince checked in but it’s very well marked.

Nice spot right next to the river. Secluded from any other nearby houses and towns (not too far if you need to run into town). Campsites aren’t large and are tightly packed from what I noticed but I stayed in one of the pull up spots closer to the road/river. I also stayed in the winter so we were the only ones there so this wasn’t a problem for us. Firewood is a great deal.

Me and my partner chose to rent this cabin for thanksgiving. It was absolutely fabulous, the cabin is so cozy, the composting toilet did not bring any smell, the shower was great, the bed was very comfortable and the view from the bed was the best part of the trip. I cannot wait to rent this again.
Virgil and his wife were also very welcoming. I highly recommend renting this property.

Weekend Trip to Olde Tyme Cabins
The location was perfect! We felt secluded in our little camp and were able to hike up the hillside nearby. We loved the campfire with the lights strung around, and there were roasting sticks in one of the RV cubbies. The hot tub was amazing. We did get rained out of the hot tub, since there is no awning over it, but once the rain stopped, we were able to enjoy again. The master bed was comfortable, and the bunk beds have a curtain to keep lights out for later sleepers. We camped in mid-November and stayed warm and cozy the whole time. Our only complaint was the water. It never quite worked well enough to shower, and washing dishes was frustrating. We did let our hosts know, and they came quickly to work on it, which helped for a short while, but didn't last the duration.

Weekend Trip to Ferns in the Forest
Virgil & Pam really go above and beyond at The Fern House! The cabin was comfy and stocked with everything one could need for an extended weekend away. Our hosts were generous and gracious. They provide great communication and hospitality. We spent 3 nights and wish it could've been longer! Our pups loved the mile walk around the property each morning plus great hiking spots nearby. We took advantage of the fireplace, local eatery suggestions, and the loft was the perfect hideaway for resting and waking to beautiful wooded views. We cant wait to come back!

4 nights at Brooklyn Heights Riverfront Camp
Awesome location , Tucker County, WV. Many, many parks near, Federal, National, State and local towns. Dog absolutely loved it here. Easy car access to tent and cabin sites.

Really enjoyed camping on Vincent's campgrounds! We went for three nights in late October and the fall foliage was out of a painting. The coffee pavilion was cute and I thought the firewood was a good deal. We were on RF2, one of the large riverfront campgrounds and really enjoyed being right on the water. No one else was on the other two riverfront campgrounds so the privacy was nice; not too many trees in between our camp and RF3 if there had been others there. We took a drive up to the Olson Observation tower (maybe 15 minutes away) and it was a view I'll never forget. Definitely the highlight for me!

We loved our stay and Donnie was a good host. The toilet probably wasn't big enough to host 6 adults, but if you're with a lot of men you shouldn't have a problem. Exactly what we were looking for!
