This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! Our property was a small family farm for several generations. Our family purchased the property about 18 years ago. Since we are not farmers but love living here, the question became "What would be the best use for the land?" Living in a scenic area and already being in the vacation rental business on some other family property answered the question. We decided to share the beautiful view and seclusion of our area with others. Our goal was to keep the cost of building down so that we could pass on the savings to you so that you would not have to be rich to enjoy our lovely area. This inspired the idea of a glamping cabin. The cabin is actually a repurposed office building that was built about the time this property was purchased by our family. We moved it to the present location and completely remodelled it in 2018 and added the bathroom. For 4 years, guests enjoyed an off-the-grid experience. In 2023, when we began work on the glamping dome (stay tuned--coming soon!!), we decided to add electricity, running water, and a hot tub to the tiny house! We hope you enjoy the cabin (and, soon, the dome) and the stunning view from them as much as we enjoy sharing this beautiful spot with you! Note: The Charming Glamping Cabin is at a totally different property. That property also has a section that used to be farmed. Now a lot of it is forest. We purchased the property around 2000. This cabin was built approx. 10 years later. At that point, the cabin was a tiny economy cabin with a sofa bed. However, it seemed most folks preferred comfort over economy, so in 2020, we added a bump-out to the side of the cabin so there would be room for a queen bed. Guests have loved the improvement. We have two sites different sites in the property. Site #1 “ A mountain Side Retreat” Is a 20ft diameter Bell tent yurt on a 20x24 foot platform giving you a 4foot porch to sit and listen to nature. It sleeps 2-6 people, outhouse, and outdoor shower. Features: -WiFi -electric -water -outdoor sink -outdoor shower with propane insta hot water heater. You have 104 degrees instantly. -grill with propane - firepit with cooking grate -tiki torches -1 bundle of fire wood provided. Additional wood $5 a bundle -outhouse is limed and well maintained. Site #2 “ A Private Hideout” 30ft RV -Sleeps 2-8 people -Heat & A/C -water -Queen size, two full size, two twin size beds linen provided -kitchen -tv with streaming -WiFi -outdoor kitchen -Hottub -outdoor firepit with cooking grate -charcoal grill We are veteran owned. Our goal is to create a getaway you can show up to and have everything provided. We want to give you a true unplugged experiences from everyday work, stress, and busy schedules. We are less than a 1/4 mile from Maniac Mountain Haunted House, so you will hear the chainsaws, gun shots, and screams during the Sept-Nov time. We have 120 acres of wilderness you can explore. Be cautious of wildlife and look for WARNING signs. We have a private shooting range in the bottom fields of the property so you may hear gun shots April- September. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches. For winter months Oct-April water supply will be limited. A propane heater can be requested as well for the the yurt.

The place was beautiful! The cabin had everything we needed… games, cooking and cleaning supplies, wifi, tv with plenty of watching options, there was even a telescope for star gazing! Loved the peace and quiet. I loved that although there were other cabins, they each had a more than adequate amount of personal space so that it still felt like a romantic secluded getaway for you and your spouse/partner. This is a lovely setup and I would highly recommend. I definitely look forward to coming back! Thank you Rae!

We had a lovely stay! Our cabin area was tidy and very peaceful with the lull of the river in the background. We enjoyed walking to the bridge down the road and exploring the local trails and riverfront. Ample camping amenities: coffee/tea/drinks/wifi available near the office area, plenty of wood/fire starter for those who needed some, and the port a potty was clean. Pro tip: bring your own potable water or a filter. There is plenty of fresh water available, but it's not potable. Vincent was an incredibly accommodating and personable host and you can tell how hard he and his crew work to keep the site in tip-top shape!

We loved glamping here! The site and the outhouse were clean! Amber checked on us twice. They had milk and cheese for sale, unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to rush out the last morni g and did not get to purchase any! The water was blue and refreshing! The kids had an absolute blast in the water, even with the storms rolling through occasionally

If you are debating booking this site, do it. We just spent two days at the waterfront cabin and this has been the most memorable trip. My son and I hail from Chicago and decided to make a detour to this spot on the way to see family in Baltimore. We had such an incredible time on the water and experiencing the beauty of this family’s farm. They were so helpful and accommodating, even lending us fans because we forgot ours at home. I got to spend a lot of time talking to Amber’s husband about their farm and their garden, and they even sent us home with some fresh veggies. Don’t skip out on the farm stand - we bought a lot of creams that Amber made as well as fresh milk and eggs. Waking up to cows at our window was a bonus. Thank you again for a trip my son will never forget!!

This was our second time at Brooklyn Heights in just 2 weeks because we loved it SO much! It was me, my fiance, and 3 kids, plus 2 big dogs! We rented one of the cabins this time & it was amazing. Having a fridge, electric and a/c really makes a mid-July stay so much more relaxing! We mainly just slept in the cabin & not much else because we were either at the river swimming/paddle boarding or relaxing by the fire pit, which is perfectly shaded, but it was surprisingly spacious & having a cool space & comfy bed at night was so great!! Vince is so friendly and kind. The amenities are wonderful! The cheap firewood, the coffee pavilion, a place to wash dishes, and most importantly VERY CLEAN portapotties!! No complaints! We cannot wait to come back again.

1 night at Freedom Run Ranch Equestrian Camp

As soon as we pulled in to freedom run Ranch we knew we would enjoy ourselves. The horses had a great place to stay with big grassy pens and stalls for nighttime in a big old Beautiful barn. The owners were very gracious and helped us with everything. The Cabin is super cute! There are nice places to sit outside in the shade. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Though we only stayed one night, on our trip through the area, we would definitely stay again.

The Waterfront Cabin was the perfect place to camp! Gorgeous view and easy access to a clear blue lake. The cabin was stocked with clean linens, towels, lots of pillows, and other thoughtful items like solar lights, tiki torches, a pop tent that we placed over the picnic table, cornhole boards, cooking equipment, a propane grill, fire pit, and tubes for use in the lake. We loved walking the grounds to see the beauty hidden within this working farm and loved waking up to the cows munching outside the cabin and letting us pet them! Looking forward to returning again!

We had an amazing time staying in the lakeside cabin. As others have mentioned, this is the perfect place to unplug and spend some restorative time with nature. The lake was clean and so blue. Our 7 and 12 year old boys loved the floating trampoline and the herd of cows that paid us a visit. We bought fresh eggs, cheese, and milk from the farm. The owners are amazing and very hospitable. Our family will be back for sure!

From the moment we arrived, we knew this wasn’t just another getawa…it was an experience. Every detail has been thoughtfully planned to create the perfect balance of adventure, comfort, and relaxation. It is truly glamping at its finest. The accommodations were absolutely stunning…beautiful, comfortable, spotless, and incredibly welcoming. It was obvious that the hosts poured their hearts into creating a place where families can make unforgettable memories. They were wonderful to work with, and their hospitality made us feel right at home. Our days were packed with adventure…kayaking, fishing, tubing, swimming, hiking, zip lines, campfires, s’mores, hammocks, badminton, outdoor games, an indoor arcade, RC cars, sparklers… the list could honestly go on and on. There was never a shortage of things to do, yet it was also the perfect place to slow down and simply enjoy being together. And don’t leave without trying the Farmer’s Daughter Butcher meats…they were absolutely incredible and one of the unexpected highlights of our trip! Every part of our stay exceeded our expectations. We’ve stayed at many campgrounds over the years, and this one has quickly become one of our all-time favorites. We were still talking about it on the drive home, and before the weekend was even over, we were already planning our next visit. If you’re looking for a place to reconnect with your family, enjoy the outdoors without sacrificing comfort, and create memories that will last a lifetime!

2 nights at Olde Tyme Cabins

This site is incredibly comfortable and so peaceful. The owner was easy to reach when I had questions, the camper is out of the way off of main roads and very private, and we loved how much space we had to move around and hang out with our kids. The only real downside was that the weather had been bad before our trip, so we couldn’t use the tiki torches (they were rained on and soaked) and the outdoor string lights weren’t working because of it as well. On the way home, my family was already asking when we could come back to the site again, and if we could stay longer next time!
