This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports.
The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site.
We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Wild Yough is located in Southern Garrett County, Maryland very close to Herrington Manor State Park, Swallows Falls State Park, and the quaint mountain village of Oakland. The property adjoins thousands of acres of Garrett State Forest and hundreds of acres of state land along the Youghiogheny River. The world class Wisp resort and Deep Creek Lake are only minutes away. “Yough” is short for Youghiogheny River a state designated wild and scenic river which runs through the heart of the property. Wild Yough Glamping huts are part of more than 350 acres of private land, most of which is crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Riverfront sites have different group limits: RF1 includes eight guests with a maximum of 12; RF2 includes 10 with a maximum of 16; RF3 includes six with a maximum of eight. The Bus has eight indoor sleeping spaces across two buses. The tipi has four cots, with outdoor tent space for additional registered guests. RIVER DAYS AND FOREST EVENINGS
Enjoy the designated river access areas, fishing, wading, swimming, tubing and kayaking when conditions allow. River levels and currents change with rainfall; supervise children and choose activities appropriate to the conditions.
SHARED FACILITIES
Campground porta-potties and the Coffee Pavilion are available to guests. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate cost $2 per cup. The wood-fired sauna is booked separately, and firewood is available for purchase. Water systems are winterized November 1–April 15; plan accordingly and review your listing’s water details. Parsons is approximately four miles away for shopping and dining.

Check-in begins at 12 noon; checkout is by 10 AM Follow the arrival instructions for your reserved site. Quiet hours are 10 PM–8 AM Pets must be leashed and supervised. The range is for our junior marksmanship program to practice for Nationals and local matches.

Beautiful spot with farm and wild life as far as you can see. Beautiful pond . Everything you possibly could have forgotten, especially if you have never been camping before is supplied . Welcoming and amazing people. Will definitely be back in the spring.

Cabin and site were great! Everything as described. PortaPotty was extremely clean. Beautiful easy river access and nice proximity to other locations-Davis, Thomas, Elkins, Blackwater Falls, etc. we would love to come back in summer for the full river experience!

Virgil and pam have a lovely cabin, its peaceful, very clean and comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed to feel at home.

It is a lovely location and the couple who runs it are lovely as well. I had a cabin and it was very clean. The microwave was a nice plus. The fridge is a good size and includes a freezer. I was in Cabin B.

Weekend Trip to Abrams Creek Campground/Retreat
Awesome location! Just me and my teenaged son and we absolutely loved it and will be back many times. The owners are very nice and accommodating. I'd be neglectful to not point out this one thing: although the cabin is spacious and the camping area is beautiful, the inside of the cabin is rather unkempt. If you're bringing a wife and/or young kids I'd advise you choose another cabin. It is the furthest cabin, so maybe it's not used much?
I feel a little bad about that last part because the entire holiday weekend was fantastic.

Overall we had a great experience! Beautiful location. Loved the coffee house area. The downside, when we arrived we had a bag of trash on our porch, there was food on one of the beds and I know it’s camping but the cabin had a really bad mold smell with some mold on one of the bunk mattress. Porter potties were ok as far as cleanliness goes.

absolutely a weekend I will return to in my dreams!! Donald was a wonderful host, going above and beyond to provide everything we could have needed. The site was beautiful, well kept, and stocked with everything from coffee and washcloths to kindling. The land itself was stunning and peaceful. Cannot wait to return in the fall to see the leaves change!

My second stay at Bear Run Farm, and I can honestly say this wonderful place has become my favorite escape from the busy, hectic pace of life.
Amber, the host, was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and hospitable. The cabin was cozy, spotless, and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
And the blue lake… absolutely magical! 💙 The water is so clean, refreshing, and peaceful. I call it the Caribbean of West Virginia! 🌴🏞️
What makes Bear Run Farm truly special is the untouched, natural beauty surrounding it. Everywhere you look, there is lush greenery, beautiful trees, peaceful woods, and the feeling of being completely immersed in nature. It feels like a hidden paradise, far away from the noise and stress of everyday life. The peaceful landscape and fresh air make it the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of nature.

Recommended for families, 10/10. Great river access with fishing opportunities within the camp and lots of activities nearby.
Owner Vince is very accommodating and does a great job of communicating everything you need in advance. He’s also present on site if you need anything. Lots of firewood and a coffee station that’s open 24/7.
