Learn more about this land: This wooded area is 5 miles away from the Ohiopyle State Park whitewater launch area and GAP bike trail. We are less than 9 miles from Frank Lloyd Wright's Classic Fallingwater and about 8 miles from Kentuck Knob one of the last resident homes he designed (both are open for tours). Fort Necessity National Battlefield is 5 miles away. There are numerous native trout streams in the area. Youghiogheny Reservoir is 7 miles away for fishing, boat rentals, and water-sports. The Fern House is the primary camp cabin on the property. Although if someone would want to park a "self contained" camper or small RV on the property we would permit the unit to occupy the area in front of the driveway just pass the entrance gate. It is not within the ferns and is next to the road. There is an electrical outlet available at this small RV or van camper site. We are "nice pet" friendly. Dogs should not be left in the cabin alone. We have a mountain spring (when the spring is running) up the trail road (450 feet away). The ferns will normally be in full glory by the end of May to mid September and are amazing, covering the forest floor. Deer, bear, wild turkey, fox, chipmunks, squirrels and many woodland birds abound the property especially owls. A picnic table, fire ring and firewood is available on the property. Free WiFi on the property as long as the plant life is not too thick! There is a mile hiking loop right on the property and many challenging trails in the area, including the starting point for the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail. No smoking is permitted in the cabin. Youghiogheny is an Algonquin word meaning “a stream flowing in a contrary direction”, or in the case of the Yough, North toward Ohio Pyle and Pittsburgh. This section of the river is designated as a protected scenic corridor and you will feel the quiet isolation when sitting on the Crooked Butt Bench overlooking the big horseshoe bend in the river at the far back corner of our property. And if the river is low during your visit, feel free to wade across to the other side – Wild Yough owns the entire peninsula of land on the other side of the river and this is also bordered by State land.The river banks are steep on the property, but the fishing for small mouth bass is exceptional. There is a small turn around on the path just beyond Crooked Butt Bench where you can take out your canoe, kayak, or inner tubes after floating the 2+ miles from the Oakland bridge. Just be prepared to walk your water craft back up to the house or Glamping site as there is no motorized access to the river.If you like to lay on the rocks in the sun or take the kids for some wading in the river, the best place is the farthest to walk to. Take the trail to “High Bluff”, then cross the Snyder property line (Permission for trail access only – do not leave trail!), then descend down and cross the bridge across Herrington Manor Creek (a stocked trout stream!). We had a lovely stay! Our cabin area was tidy and very peaceful with the lull of the river in the background. We enjoyed walking to the bridge down the road and exploring the local trails and riverfront. Ample camping amenities: coffee/tea/drinks/wifi available near the office area, plenty of wood/fire starter for those who needed some, and the port a potty was clean. Pro tip: bring your own potable water or a filter. There is plenty of fresh water available, but it's not potable. Vincent was an incredibly accommodating and personable host and you can tell how hard he and his crew work to keep the site in tip-top shape!

The wife and I stayed at the Lily pad cabin for 4 nights. It was very relaxing sitting on the porch overlooking the woods and the neighboring farm land. We watched many deer and a few turkey’s. The cabin has a full kitchen, living area with nice furniture and comfortable bedding. We enjoyed the fire pit and the Lily pond with a fountain. The owners were great, we spoke with them numerous times and they really enjoy what they are doing, thank you.

My son and I hail from Chicago and decided to make a detour to this spot on the way to see family in Baltimore. We had such an incredible time on the water and experiencing the beauty of this family’s farm. They were so helpful and accommodating, even lending us fans because we forgot ours at home. I got to spend a lot of time talking to Amber’s husband about their farm and their garden, and they even sent us home with some fresh veggies. Don’t skip out on the farm stand - we bought a lot of creams that Amber made as well as fresh milk and eggs. Waking up to cows at our window was a bonus. Thank you again for a trip my son will never forget!!

1 night at Freedom Run Ranch Equestrian Camp

As soon as we pulled in to freedom run Ranch we knew we would enjoy ourselves. The horses had a great place to stay with big grassy pens and stalls for nighttime in a big old Beautiful barn. The owners were very gracious and helped us with everything. The Cabin is super cute! There are nice places to sit outside in the shade. I would definitely recommend a stay here. Though we only stayed one night, on our trip through the area, we would definitely stay again.

10/10 experience — Beth was lovely. My dog was treated like family. The facility was stocked with shared equipment. Bathrooms clean and huge. So nice!

Loved the complimentary snacks for us and mini milk bones for the dogs. So close to the hikes and the town. Gorgeous land with a trail that was flourishing with a variety of mushrooms and salamanders too.

3 nights at The Oasis at Bear Run Farms

The Waterfront Cabin was the perfect place to camp! Gorgeous view and easy access to a clear blue lake. The cabin was stocked with clean linens, towels, lots of pillows, and other thoughtful items like solar lights, tiki torches, a pop tent that we placed over the picnic table, cornhole boards, cooking equipment, a propane grill, fire pit, and tubes for use in the lake. We loved walking the grounds to see the beauty hidden within this working farm and loved waking up to the cows munching outside the cabin and letting us pet them! Looking forward to returning again!

Weekend Trip to The Oasis at Bear Run Farms

We had an amazing time staying in the lakeside cabin. As others have mentioned, this is the perfect place to unplug and spend some restorative time with nature. The lake was clean and so blue. Our 7 and 12 year old boys loved the floating trampoline and the herd of cows that paid us a visit. We bought fresh eggs, cheese, and milk from the farm. The owners are amazing and very hospitable. Our family will be back for sure!
