All ready for your summer expedition! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a 4 seat table as well as some cots makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 40 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and a picnic table. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Had an amazing time here, a great way to get away and spend some quiet quality time in nature. The place come with many amenities which are all easily labeled and we paid extra for the heated shower and canopy, it rained but we’re still able to enjoy it under the canopy and the heated shower was very easy to use with the directions given to us in the binder. During October the host says they leave pumpkins for the guest and we had a great fall activity doing that. 10/10 definitely plan on coming back!

Me and my girlfriend LOVED this cabin! Renee and her husband were VERY kind and helpful. They let use their land as our home away from home for the weekend! The farm cat pumpkin was on our laps every day and the horses walked right over to the porch at all times of the day! We also had access to the chickens donkey pig sheep and goats all weekend! Nice electric fire place and radio that connected right to my phone. Very beautiful and we definitely will be back!

Gerry is most definitely the kindest soul we have met in our lifetime. The whole town was adorable. When I say if there was a heaven in earth, this was it! If I had the opportunity to spend my days out here, I would! The horses all have a story and they'll tell you if you listen. Build a rapport, build trust and you'll have them running up to you to chat in their own little language. Skye will speak through her eyes and while she's been through a lot, she just wants love. The goats do the goat thing and the pig is adorbs. He runs the farm. We stayed in the cabin and to be honest, the spiders kept the mosquitoes down, but they intimidated me so we pitched a tent by the fire. Bugs were there, but we didn't mind them outside. We made friends with a stick bug that lives on the cabin. The whole property is super cute, but it's remote. It's camping. It's an off grid cabin. The shower water was hot and pressure was good. Gerry went above and beyond due to our situation and everything falling apart at the time of booking. Literally, this camp trip rejuvenated my soul when we were in a dark place. The trouble still is present, but we are relaxed enough to tread on. We both already miss the horses. Literally heaven in earth as long as you're not a super priss. Even then, just enjoy the nature and the little slice of paradise. The hike up the hill is steep and wasn't easy. Definitely a hike but so worth it. Gratitude. Anyone who can tip him a million dollars for us, do it.

Beautiful! Completely private, don't really hear any road noise, there's a lake that's a 3min walk away. I realized at 9pm that I accidentally left a bag I packed, luckily the cabin had most of what I forgot. Games, tin foil, salt & pepper, wet wipes, paper towels, all the essentials. My dog had a blast too, she loved the small creek that runs along the driveway. AND the price is great, I plan on visiting a few times a year!

Weekend Trip to Tiny Home on the Hill

We love to tent camp, but weather looked rainy so we opted for somewhere with a roof. We fell in love with this place! The house is adorable and clean with a huge front porch overlooking a flat yard that was great for kids. Behind the house is a fire pit area with cover, and there are plenty of walking paths for adventure and to get out and moving. Completely secluded and quiet. If you have a dog, bring a water and food bowl, otherwise the house is stocked with everything you could need. Notes is you’re traveling with kids (ours are 7 and 3)- the climb to the lofted beds is steep, but our kids figured it out and managed not to hurt themselves. There’s a twin daybed on the main floor that’s an alternative option. Shower was hot. Stepstool in the bathroom. Cute ice cream shop 10-15 min away. It was fantastic!

Larry's tiny home and large covered area was perfect for my family and me! My parents stayed in the tiny house and my husband and I camped out back in the tent. Even though it rained pretty heavily, we were warm and dry under the covered pavilion. We will absolutely be back!

First time using hipcamp. Decided to take an impromptu camping trip with my son and couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. Gerry was a wonderful host but his well cared for animals really stole the show. The site does sit up on a hill, with somewhat rough terrain, so folks with mobility issues might be challenged. Thanks for a great experience, we’ll definitely be back!

3 nights at A-frame rustic cabin

I love solo camping/traveling with my dogs whenever I can. I have a high pressure job and am always looking for peace whenever I can get away. That is exactly what I found at this beautiful property. You feel like you are in your own little nature preserve away from all the stress of the normal day to day. It was the perfect escape. Jim and Tracy are very respectful of your privacy and also so friendly and so helpful with everything. Mugs and I will definitely be back as soon as we can 🖤 Thank you both so much for everything

When we booked this place, we were very excited because we read all the glowing reviews. I can say that it still exceeded our expectations in every way!!!!! The host could not have been more gracious, kind, and welcoming to us. She is an absolute gem. The cabin was lovely, and I kept forgetting that we didn't have a sink in there because it has every other amenity you could ask for! Air con, a heater, electricity, comfy beds, even wifi for goodness sake! The horses and other farm animals were absolutely lovely, so cute and silly. I recommend that you bring binoculars to see the beautiful wildlife at the pond, pillows, bug spray and maybe a citronella candle, and you will have the absolute best time EVER!

Weekend Trip to Mountain View Camping

The a frame was super cute, kept us dry, and the the restroom set up was really convenient. The land is beautiful, with a little stream, mossy and lush. No complaints other than the aframe is not sealed like a tent would be, so there were a lot of bugs in there all night. Not just mosquitoes or flies but spiders, caterpillars, slugs, ect. There is a really nice mattress in there, but its a single so it makes the set up much better suited to one person. Although he did provide a pretty nice inflatable camp pad for the second person, just was not the comfiest or most roomy but thats to be expected and of no fault to the host. There is a bit of a walk down a trail from the parking area to the camping area. The host was kind and very communicative.
