After all, necessity is the mother of invention. This is our first study of building a sustainable living environment. We started with a blank slate, a new system designed with the permaculture principles in mind and the intention of ultimately creating a living space with the creature comforts we have all grown accustomed to. Eventually we will be building the next round of accommodations (principal: Small & Slow Solutions). If you prefer a more secluded experience, please book both sites. There is space for an RV in the driveway next to the woods with electric hookup and access to the outhouse, water pump, and firepit. While this is a working ranch with farm animals, our aim is to create a peaceful relaxing environment in order to unwind and enjoy the creation around us. Going in the pastures with horses while unaccompanied by the owners is prohibited; however, it can be arranged for you to meet and interact with the mustangs if interested. There are other farm animals including a sheep, a goat, pigs, donkeys, peacocks, turkeys, chickens, ducks and barn cats on the premises. If you want a quaint country escape complete with farm sounds, this is the spot for you!

Just renovated for winter camping! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a4 seat table as well as some could makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 30 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and 2 picnic tables.. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

1 night at A-frame rustic cabin

This little A-frame cabin was an absolute gem. From the moment we walked up the trail and saw the adorable rounded door, I knew we had found something special. The setting is incredibly peaceful, with beautiful views of the surrounding woods and the constant, relaxing sound of the creek flowing nearby. Birds were chirping throughout the day, and we even spotted deer tracks along the path to the cabin, which added to the sense of being immersed in nature. Inside, the cabin was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully organized when we arrived. It’s a compact space, but perfectly laid out with plenty of room for two people to relax comfortably. The solar-powered amenities all worked great, and the fan was especially helpful for keeping the air moving. When the temperature dropped at night, the small wood stove made the cabin warm and perfectly comfortable. Watching the fire glow through the stove window while the quiet of the forest settled around us made for a really special evening. It was also reassuring to see that the host had placed emergency equipment and safety items throughout the cabin. Everything felt well thought out and cared for. Overall, this place is charming, peaceful, and exactly the kind of retreat you hope for when escaping into nature. If you're looking for a quiet, cozy stay surrounded by the sounds of water and wildlife, this cabin is a wonderful choice.

Weekend Trip to A-frame rustic cabin

This was such a cozy little camping spot. I wanted to have just one night of quiet, no work, no setting up, just go be in the woods for a night, and this was perfect. It was pouring when we arrived and laying and taking a nap in the cabin listening to the rain was lovely. The string lights outside were such a nice touch when we woke up from our nap and sat outside for the evening. We will definitely be back! I was so pleasantly surprised that there was some power in the cabin. This felt like glamping to me and it was everything I needed and more.

I really enjoyed my stay here. I felt very welcomed, and the place reflects such a warm and peaceful vibe with the horses and the other animals. The environment is cozy and relaxing, and I truly enjoyed spending time walking in nature. What a beautiful stay! Renee welcomed me warmly and gave me an amazing tour of the horses. She is truly an amazing human being. As soon as you hear her speak about her mission of helping others, you believe in it immediately because she speaks from the heart. What a beautiful mission. I’m very glad that I stayed here. It was a wonderful and memorable experience.

Weekend Trip to Muddy Myst

I loved camping at the tree house at Muddy Myst! The hosts were incredibly attentive to any questions we had during our stay and we were warm and cozy inside the cabin despite the chilly Temps outside. Our dog had the best time out of all 3 of us though! She was able to be off leash and run through the snow to her hearts content. We definitely will be back to make more memories here in the future 😊

I loved the cabin on the hilltop! It was very cozy with a wood stove and plenty of wood to keep us warm. The bunk beds were very comfortable and our host Gerry was very accommodating! We will definitely be back to explore more!

The loft in the trees was the perfect place to stay on a winter night but still be surrounded by nature. The outdoor mood lighting on the property perfectly highlighted the slow falling snow that welcomed my one night stay here. In the morning the land was peaceful with birds chirping and the creek bubbling slowly on my morning walk. The bathroom was Amazing!! Way better than anything I could have anticipated. This is a really well done Hipcamp and I would definitely stay here again. I appreciate Liam & Jolene for being so welcoming and for sharing such a wonderful space. My kitten loved being in the nature and away from cars and other people, thanks for having us!!

This was the absolute perfect place for me on a long road trip, this cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay. It's secluded but the hosts aren't far if you need anything else in a snap. The cabin itself and the surrounding area is so beautiful! It was nice to watch the sun rise from the comfort of my bed. J&T are very responsive, and even went out of their way to mail me a pair of earrings I left there, couldn't recommend this place enough!

My dog Teemo and I had a wonderful stay at Jim and Tracy’s A-frame cabin. They really thought of everything when putting this place together. When I arrived after dark, I wasn’t sure I was in the right spot and had spotty service, but Jim showed up within minutes and even started a fire for us while we settled in! The cabin had all the necessities for a cozy weekend — plenty of firewood included, a warm bathroom with a handwashing station, and even a guitar, which was such a nice touch to play by the fire. There are a couple of dollar stores nearby for snacks or produce, which was really convenient. Teemo and I were very comfortable and appreciated how thoughtful and responsive Jim was. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved this place. My husband and I stayed the weekend to explore the area for our final trip for the year. The cabin was so cozy,we did have our air mattress with us just incase I was unable to sleep on the futon but was surprisingly comfortable. We were exploring most of the time but getting to see and pet the horses was amazing. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Muddy Myst was the perfect get away from the city. It gave such a comforting, safe and woodsy feeling. It was also very warm during a cold night! I would suggest this lovely place to anyone needing a cozy spot to relax!
