THE CAMPGROUND IS REGISTERED WITH MONTGOMERY COUNTY SHORT TERM RENTALS LICENSE # STR25-00075. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites.
Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career.
In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields..

Our goal is to provide families with a peaceful and safe travel destination. We’re open year-round, even in winter! Our spacious sites and welcoming crew make it a great place to stay. RV parking is available at the barn, and there’s plenty of space for small to large groups to pitch tents on the lawn.
All pets, including equines, are welcome. 4-stall barn, 5 pastures with self-waterers and run-ins, and miles of well-maintained trails perfect for ATVs, trail biking, horseback riding, and forest bathing.
Spectacular sunsets behind the house offer panoramic views of Sugarloaf Mountain. The night skies are usually clear, making it ideal for stargazing.
A 3-person salt-water hot tub is available, contingent on availability. $50/hr. and requires a shower before entering. Spa robes, towels, and slippers are provided, depending on availability.
2 e-bikes and 1 mountain bike, all of which are contingent upon availability. A signed waiver is required. Minimum age is 16 years old or at the discretion of the host. They cost $25/hr. per person.
Experienced horse riders can book horse rides for $50/hr. per person. Inexperienced riders must be led using a lead rope. Signed waivers and provided helmets are required.
Our in-ground, unheated swimming pool is open mid-April to end October. $60/hr.
Please place any donations in the marked box in the barn. Our perennially hungry rescues appreciate it!
Payments for rentals, extra nights, and farm market purchases like eggs, flowers, organic produce, dried lavender, etc., can be made here, or via Venmo, Zelle, or QR codes in the tack room at the barn.

Looking to tend to you? Would it be to rest in nature and soak up the sounds and wonder of our wooded landscape, explore hiking trails and national and state parks, float down the Potomac, and/or visit historic sites and towns? Fern Yabin (a hard sided yurt) is nestled in a forest on a ridge (Elk Ridge) directly across from the Maryland Appalachian Trail. We are tucked down in a holler surrounded by streams, towering Poplars, wildlife and dappled sunshine. The land hosts some animals - a goat, dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks while growing medicinal plants, seasonal edible berries/fruits (wineberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, mulberries, elderberries, vine kiwi, pawpaw, etc.) and rocks (plenty of them). There is a couple of acres enclosed with an electric fence where the livestock guardian dog (Luna) roams with the animals. We also sell farm fresh eggs.
Fern Yabin is a rustic hard sided yurt style cabin that has hot and cold water, composting toilet, outdoor shower (cold water only), a indoor soaking tub, hot water kettle, an outdoor propane grill, ceiling fan, outdoor patio and fire pit, skylight, WiFi, and lots of character. The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. If you are a thru hiker, drop off and pick up is available for a fee. Please inquire upon booking.
We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). There are outdoor outfitters within 15 minutes where all kinds of wonderful adventures await including a brewery with a stunning vista of the river and area. We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. For amazing dining opportunities and small city life - Frederick, MD, Boonsboro, MD, Brunswick, MD, Shepherdstown, WV and Charles Town, WV are about a 30 min drive. We are also close to several state parks in the tri state area (MD, VA, WV).

Please note: From December to March, the access road to get to our property occasionally gets icy (we plow it but do not salt). 4WD/AWD and/or snow tires is recommended during those months.

Bring your telescope. The night sky view is amazing! The Milky way is visible on clear nights. You may see farm animals including goats, chickens and cows during your stay. In addition, Mother Earth Organic Farm has a plethora of wildlife including hummingbirds, bald eagles, white egrets, turtles, bears, and foxes. There are walking trails on the farm and a 1/3 acre pond.
The Appalachian Trail (AT) is about a mile down the road (access point with ample parking). There are many parks nearby including Gambrill State Park, Cunningham Falls State Park (longest cascading waterfall in Maryland) and many others.

The humans and pups on this trip had a wonderful stay. Mary Ann was an exceptional host, sharing recommendations and offering extra accommodations because of rainy weather. I had such a great experience at Strawberry Crossroads! Hosts were communicative even before my check in, which I appreciated because of the inclement weather forecast. My add ons (wood and fishing pole) were promptly delivered. The bathrooms were always clean. Location is great, just a twenty minute drive to the beach! Even in the rainy weather I had for my visit, I still had a great time checking out the trails, sitting by the fire, hanging in my hammock, and fishing! There’s plenty of space to find your perfect set up. Everyone was great and I can’t wait to visit Strawberry Crossroads again! Thanks for the memories (:

My daughter (11 yo) and I stayed at the Fern Yabin. Andrea met us sooner after arriving to tell us about the Yabin and the area. She was very welcoming and helpful. The Yabin is fully appointed with comforts: beds, couch, electric, hand pump toilet, running water (tub, kitchen and bathroom sink, outdoor shower), breakfast table, outdoor seating, fire pit, indoor wood fire stove. The Yabin is in a lovely, wooden, and private area of her property. It is close to Harper’s Ferry, Maryland Heights, and the AT. We had a great time, just wish it was longer.

Great space, even with the torrential rains, we had a great time. Camped by the river and Liam was so nice and came down and checked on us to make sure we were okay. Just amazing to have the basement area to have coffee, take a shower, and even do laundry. The dogs loved the creek and went swimming in the rain. Fortunately my tent stayed dry and we had lots of extra blankets. We’ll definitely be back when the weather is better. What a treasure!
