Toad Hall is a heated, one room, 8x8 cabin in Harrison, Maine, with access to the Bear River for wading and swimming (depending on the river height.) There is a firepit at the cabin, along with one down by the river. Firewood is provided. The lower area by the river is a beautiful place to hang out, pitch hammocks etc... The cabin is near the road, which is great for loading in and loading out, but you will hear/see cars drive by. (Read our reviews, we stand by them!) There is no running water or bathroom on the property so please bring a camping potty and do not bury human waste! The Bear River, which is a beautiful spot to swim and wade in, runs right through the property- but it's also drinking water and a protected watershed. Again, please make sure you have a camping potty plan. Cabin Features: There are 2 cots inside, but also feel free to bring your own pads/bedding. There are solar lights inside, along with a USB plug to charge small devices. It is a clean, warm, dry room, with beautiful light and good ventilation with the windows cracked. We are off the beaten path in the forest near the White Mountain National Forest. A 6 to 8 minute hike from your site gets you to a private lake. We have two local waterfalls only 2 miles away. Drive back out to 5 Kezars road. Take a right on the paved road. It will turn back into dirt. Keep on this road until you see a beautiful stone house on your left. Keep going just up the hill and you will see a right turn into the woods where you can park. There are no signs for Kezar gorge. Hike towards the sound of the falls. There is a small cave under the falls you can climb up into if you are a strong swimmer. There is a second set of falls if you hike down the river. A most magical spot for sure. There is a beautiful hike to a mountain lookout view of an amazing panoramic of lakes and mountains including Mt Washington and Pleasant Ski mountain right from your site. Please, NO pets! Thank you for reading this entire description for rules and directions on how to get to Hidden Brook. Hidden Brook is located on a small family-owned vegetable farm five minutes outside the village of Cornish, Maine. Three generations of farmers live here presently, but our family has been working this land since the mid 1700’s.  Cornish is a pretty special place to live and visit because we are about 50 minutes drive from both the city of Portland on the coast and the White Mountains to the west. There are tons of local hikes here in the foothills, two big rivers to float or paddle, dozens of swim spots, good fishing, and a lively little village with at least 7 antiques shops, local art, and some pretty darn good restaurants. Our neighborhood even hosts some of the best musicians in the world each July at The Ossippee Valley Music Festival. Yeah, we got it all going on! Come play with us or just chill at Hidden Brook. So far, we have one spot open for “glamping”, The Bus, but we will add the Wagon this fall. The Bus, an engineless 1973 Bluebird School bus is pretty pimped out. Though off the grid, cell reception is pretty good and rechargable lighting is provided. Our outdoor kitchen, on a spacious deck ( fenced in for kids ) includes a heavy duty propane stove, Yeti cooler and pots and pans. Indoors, there’s a slop-bucket sink for tooth-brushing (dishes are to be washed out on the deck ), a small woodstove to take off the chill come fall and a nice big fire pit outside. Wood is provided. Buses can get hot in summer, so we put ours in a shady little grove of ancient oaks amongst the remains of the farm’s original stonework and installed screens the full length of the bus. We built a compost-style outhouse and a beautiful outdoor shower we call “The Cold Drizzler” down in the old homestead cellar hole. Kind of a secret garden bathroom : ) Inside is a full-sized bed for one or two people and two cot-sized “75 long bunks, sleeping a total of four humans. Quality mattresses, sheets and blankets with a change of sheets and tons of pillows ought to provide a comfortable night’s sleep. Four towels and face cloths provided. Coffee and “pour-overs” on site as well as silverware, bowls and plates. All you really need is ice for the cooler and your food - or just go out to eat. Check out our site as well! Wildcampmaine.com Other things to note: Absolutely no smoking inside All shoes off before entering Quiet hours from 9:30 pm to 6:30 am ( we live in a small community and wish to respect our neighbors ) This is not a party camp, but a place to relax and listen to the birds. Please enjoy your music quietly. This is a working farm, but we will be as sensitive as possible when it comes to any loud machinery use like irrigation pumps and tractors while guests are around. Our dogs may visit, but are laid back once they have anounced your arrival. Directions to Hidden Brook and the Bus: You will be given directions to an address once you book but please make sure that you follow the signage to the bus carefully, otherwise you’ll end up at the wrong property. Drive until you see two giant, eyeballs attached to a telephone pole, and the bus will be immediately after that on your right. Thank you so much.

Water was ready at our campsite when we arrived, the composting toiled was clean and well stocked, there were 2 tent platforms that were clear and leveled, and the campsite was very private. Wow, just wow. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My buddy and I did the Whiteface/Passaconway loop ⛰️ and this was the perfect place to stay for it. Nick greeted us upon arrival and was super helpful! Nick had upgraded us to Site 7 ⛺️ and we couldn’t be more thankful, it was incredible, with amazing views sunrise 🌄 and had the most pristine outhouse we’ve ever used! We had an amazing time at sacred nectar sanctuary! Nick was very responsive with making sure we had all we needed and recommended a site that would best fit our camper. Oh my goodness what a beautiful view we had! Our dogs were able to roam free with us as we explored the trails and felt like we were in a Lord of the rings movie! Many stone sculptures, fairyhouses, a labyrinth, and green lush woods with majestic trees, all well taken care of and nurtured. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to Boondock! I felt like a pampered gypsy— connected to nature around me, and disconnect disconnected from my worries. Every detail was perfect from the sheets to the bed to the shower and the sound of the birds all around. I was able to journal, hike, eat a delicious meal and shop in Cornish, get a deep sleep and return to Portland all in an overnight. Just wish I had more time. If you want to experience Maine – – real Maine — then take advantage of this remarkable host and spot. I really can’t recommend it enough.

This place was just what we were hoping for! We stayed at site 3 and brought our large dog and 7 year old. We have a pop up camper. It rained a crazy amount overnight into morning the first night and was chilly so we couldn’t swim or fish but we enjoyed the water views just the same! We liked that it’s more private and quieter than a traditional campground. Site 1 looked really nice too. The store that was suggested nearby was closed on Saturday? So when we needed a firewood re stock that took a minute to navigate but the stores weren’t very far. We enjoyed our relaxing weekend here for sure.

Weekend Trip to Sacred Nectar Sanctuary

Nick has been building something truly special on the Sacred Nectar Sanctuary land, coexisting with nature, the community and his family. We had some great conversations and he made sure my stay was pleasant, even upgrading my camping spot with no extra fees on the second night, because of some pretty heavy rainfall. I brought my small/medium dog who had a blast running through the woods and rivers with Nick’s sweet pup. Did not get a chance to try the sauna experience, but I highly recommend !!

This was my first experience using HipCamp, and it was a great choice! The spot was the perfect size, in a beautiful location, and quite private. Listened to frogs calling as I fell asleep, and watched a merganser float down the river as I made my coffee in the morning. Hope to make it back!

We loved camping at site 3! We travel from CT to hike the White Mountains and appreciate a private site by the water. Our son loves skipping rocks at the sand bar, tubing, and swimming. Kevin is a reliable host and communicates quickly. The property is well maintained and clean. This was our 2nd year camping here and will definitely be back next year!

1 night at Hidden Brook At Merrifield Farm

Host was great. Location is close to many hiking trails, rivers and lakes. Wagon is private and easy to get to. The wagon it self is super cool! Like a gypsy wagon and very cozy. I highly recommend it!!
