A large stone fire ring, chairs, and total privacy. 5 gallons of potable water for each night you spend is provided.

Bringing a warm sleeping bag will enhance your stay in cool Maine nights or when the mist rolls in. The key to staying warm is closing the windows at sundown, and then feeding the fire in the wood stove. We provide hardwood, you provide the human power to get it in the wood in the stove. We are pet friendly. However, we do not accept all pets. As you sent a request to bring your friendly, well-trained, well-behaved pet, we have accepted that being the case.
We do not discriminate against large dogs. We have large dogs. Your dog will be expected to meet me and my dogs and interact appropriately. If your dog cannot do that, it is not welcome. We do discriminate against mean, biting, untrained and misbehaving ones.
You will pass by our henhouse where our chickens may be roaming at large. It is important for you to keep your dog on the leash until you hit the rock wall. We also have geese, they are of the nice geese persuasion, they will usually veer away from you upon being approached. We do not want any pets chasing our geese. They have goslings now so will be protective of their young.
At the cabin, they are welcome to be off leash, but should respond to voice commands and not be left outside unattended.
Also, Maine is very dog friendly. There are few places you can’t take your pet.

Tucked among spruce, fir, and birch on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle–Stonington, Four Acre Woods began more than 60 years ago as a small, family-run campground known as Sunshine Campground. Travelers from across the world visited this quiet island forest, drawn to its raw beauty and the peaceful energy that generations before us had loved and cared for.
The campground eventually closed in the 1990s and sat untouched for over 15 years—its trails, clearings, and old campsites slowly reclaimed by the woods. The land waited, quietly, for someone to bring it back to life.
In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land.
Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests.
In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods.
Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Visitors once again gather under the birches and spruces—sharing campfires, slow mornings, quiet nights, and the timeless island calm that makes this land so special.

FAQ: Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 9 years ago. It has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There is a large (150 gallon) tank of water for doing dishes and camp showers but we do not suggest drinking it. There is a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. We have wired lights that run off DC power when there is enough solar and we provide some battery packs for charging phones. We highly suggest bring some way to charge any of your personal electronics. There is no reliable way to do that in the cabin.
This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Our Overnights and weekly sites are primarily designed for guests participating in our educational Tours and Wolf Camp/Retreats. If space is available, we will allow non tour guests to stay once approved.
It is required to call for availability and to answer our confirmation questions. Freezing conditions exist from November until early May. No water access until freeze is over.. Daylight disappears early during the Winter gps is sketchy.
If you have adequate gear for the conditions we allow all season camping. Submitting a request does not finalize or guarantee a reservation, property approval is required. . Before you make a reservation read the description of each site. Read all of the info, and when you submit your request please include/verify the following info: Is everyone in your group at least 21?/No kids or pets with you.? What sort or camping unit.? Tent/RoofTent/RV/Hammock/Trailer./Van./ Bus etc? Calling, directly by telephone in advance is mandatory to arrange your arrival appointment.. Clarity with your request is necessary. At check out look at the “extras” section to include any pre purchases or rentals.
The sounds of the night are magical here. The Biker’s Bunkhouse is ideal for motorcycle travelers as it shelters both the guest and the Bike/s. With each listing be sure to READ all the information and the rules. If you are interested in a spontaneous camping adventure, if your luggage got lost or if you just don’t want to deal with transporting camping gear we have a variety of rental equipment. Last minute reservation requests may not work via the reservation site but we may very likely have a space. Any questions, call two zero seven six six seven three two four four, calling the property is required. It is important that you also check back to your app to see if they ( hipcamp) have sent you communication pertinent to your reservation.

Thomas Pond is a beautiful 533-acre freshwater with miles of shoreline. Thomas Pond’s maximum depth is 64 feet, and the mean depth is 22 feet. Our guests are welcome to kayak, canoe, swim, fish, and paddle board from the shores of The Queen’s Property. Access to your private waterfront is a short stroll through our woods. As our guest staying at The Queen's Property, you will also have access to the Watkins Shores Road Association's boat launch. Our new dock is available to dock your boat during the day. However, there is a small fee to dock your boat overnight (see "Extras") at our site. Just make sure you check for Milfoil or any other invasive plants before launching.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS NEAR CAMP
Within 5 minutes of camp, you will find all the essentials, ice, firewood, goodies, gas, and RV supplies. In fact, you can even order your groceries online for pickup, at Hannaford Brothers Grocery and Walmart either on your way to your campsite or when you need to resupply your camp
During your stay, you may also want to take a trip off-site to explore all that the Lakes Region offers. Explore the historic oceanfront City of Portland, or the local Towns of Windham, Naples, or Bridgton. Closer to camp, enjoy strolling through the Town of Naples. A short 8-minute drive from your site, Naples spoils its visitors with boat rentals, waterfront shops, and awesome restaurants.
Further north is the Town of Bridgton. Bridgton offers its visitors a quaint downtown filled with local retailers, pubs, and restaurants. Enjoy the beaches of Crystal Lake which sits on the edge of its downtown borders.
The towns of Raymond and Windham also offer our visitors numerous restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, and gas stations. Once again, all within a short drive from your campsite (3-4 minutes). If your idea of exploring is centered around outdoor activities, then Sebago Lake State Park is a 1,342-acre park that abuts the shores of Sebago Lake. Within the park, you will enjoy protected forests, bike paths, and Sebago Lake beaches.
The park and the lake host some of Maine's’ best sandy beaches, water sports, fishing, boating, boat rentals, camping, picnic areas, boat launches, extensive woodlands, a wide array of critters, hiking trails, and walking trails.
The Queen’s Property is a short drive to numerous mountain ranges, forests, and peaks, all of which contain hundreds of miles of ATV and hiking trails. There are over 25 hiking trails within 10 miles of The Queen's Property and over 115 trails within 20 miles.

Scars in the polished granite streambed tell the story of saw mills from the 19th century. Not far from the foundation of one of the more established farmsteads of the era, this campsite is tucked away from the road down by the rushing Bull Branch of the Sunday River. Whether you bake on the rocks after dipping, or toss a fly in a quiet pool, the river will soothe your soul.
Explore endless mountains streams, trails to the Appalachian Trail, and remote dirt roads in the heart of the Mahoosucs from your secluded walk-in low impact tent site with privy. Deep swimming holes and trout fishing beckon.
There are five sites in total. Hillside, Riverside and Fireside each have a picnic table, they all share a fire pit and a privy and are on the side of the road closest to the river. Main Eastside and the North site also share a fire pit and privy, Main Eastside has a picnic table, these two sites are across the street from the river which is just a short walk away.
Riverside: a more secluded site and closest to the river
Hillside: the smallest site available and closest to the parking area, other campers will need to access their sites by walking past this campsite

The sunrise cabin will be waiting for you after a Parking at the base and hike a 950 feet up the wooded hill The hike up is between 10-20 minutes depending on your level of fitness. Our dogs will guide you to the cabin where I’ll be waiting to give you the quick tour. You'll be able to walk among wild blueberries, mosses, lichens and huckleberries, spruce, pine, fir on the woods trail that leads to the cabin.

Amenities include: Beautiful, but humble 140 square feet cabin, wood stove, 2 burner gas cook stove, solar patio lights, solar shower, 100 watt solar array that powers lights, USB ports and small 12v DC appliances. An outdoor kitchen that has the basics to prepare a camp meal or grill hotdogs and marshmallows over the open fire. A large stone fire ring, chairs, and total privacy. 5 gallons of potable water for each night you spend is provided.

The cabin is fully outfitted with a wood stove for heat (including firewood for your splitting enjoyment--lessons provided by request), propane stove for cooking, small kitchen with cookware and kitchen basics, solar lights for overhead lighting, small dining table, several canvas chairs, coolers for cold items, games, small library, and an outhouse complete with solar shower.

Bringing a warm sleeping bag will enhance your stay in cool Maine nights or when the mist rolls in. The key to staying warm is closing the windows at sundown, and then feeding the fire in the wood stove. We provide hardwood, you provide the human power to get it in the wood in the stove. Splitting and hauling.

We are pet friendly. However, we do not accept all pets. As you sent a request to bring your friendly, well-trained, well-behaved pet, we have accepted that being the case.
We do not discriminate against large dogs. We have large dogs. Your dog will be expected to meet me and my dogs and interact appropriately. If your dog cannot do that, it is not welcome. We do discriminate against mean, biting, untrained and misbehaving ones.
You will pass by our henhouse where our chickens may be roaming at large. It is important for you to keep your dog on the leash until you hit the rock wall. We also have geese, they are of the nice geese persuasion, they will usually veer away from you upon being approached. We do not want any pets chasing our geese. They have goslings now so will be protective of their young.
At the cabin, they are welcome to be off leash, but should respond to voice commands and not be left outside unattended.
Also, Maine is very dog friendly. There are few places you can’t take your pet.

Tucked among spruce, fir, and birch on Sunshine Island in Deer Isle–Stonington, Four Acre Woods began more than 60 years ago as a small, family-run campground known as Sunshine Campground. Travelers from across the world visited this quiet island forest, drawn to its raw beauty and the peaceful energy that generations before us had loved and cared for.
The campground eventually closed in the 1990s and sat untouched for over 15 years—its trails, clearings, and old campsites slowly reclaimed by the woods. The land waited, quietly, for someone to bring it back to life.
In the years that followed, Caleb, a longtime local operator on the island, took interest in the property. Recognizing both its history and its potential to offer people a deeper experience of Deer Isle’s natural beauty, he began the process of carefully restoring and reopening the land.
Working season by season, Caleb rebuilt the sites, added new infrastructure, re-established utilities, and designed a campground that honors the land’s roots while offering a comfortable, modern, and nature-forward experience for today’s guests.
In July 2020, the property reopened under a new name: Four Acre Woods.
Today, it blends the spirit of the original Sunshine Campground with thoughtful stewardship, simple comforts, and a deep respect for the forest that surrounds it. Visitors once again gather under the birches and spruces—sharing campfires, slow mornings, quiet nights, and the timeless island calm that makes this land so special.

Maine classes this type of property as Remote Primitive camping. Take out your own trash, small bags for gas station trash cans, and bring some water. People marvel at the property and relax. FAQ: Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 9 years ago. It has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There is a large (150 gallon) tank of water for doing dishes and camp showers but we do not suggest drinking it. There is a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. We have wired lights that run off DC power when there is enough solar and we provide some battery packs for charging phones. We highly suggest bring some way to charge any of your personal electronics. There is no reliable way to do that in the cabin.
This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Our Overnights and weekly sites are primarily designed for guests participating in our educational Tours and Wolf Camp/Retreats. If space is available, we will allow non tour guests to stay once approved.
It is required to call for availability and to answer our confirmation questions. Freezing conditions exist from November until early May. No water access until freeze is over.. Daylight disappears early during the Winter gps is sketchy.
If you have adequate gear for the conditions we allow all season camping. Submitting a request does not finalize or guarantee a reservation, property approval is required. . Before you make a reservation read the description of each site. Read all of the info, and when you submit your request please include/verify the following info: Is everyone in your group at least 21?/No kids or pets with you.? What sort or camping unit.? Tent/RoofTent/RV/Hammock/Trailer./Van./ Bus etc? Calling, directly by telephone in advance is mandatory to arrange your arrival appointment.. Clarity with your request is necessary. At check out look at the “extras” section to include any pre purchases or rentals.
The sounds of the night are magical here. The Biker’s Bunkhouse is ideal for motorcycle travelers as it shelters both the guest and the Bike/s. With each listing be sure to READ all the information and the rules. If you are interested in a spontaneous camping adventure, if your luggage got lost or if you just don’t want to deal with transporting camping gear we have a variety of rental equipment. Last minute reservation requests may not work via the reservation site but we may very likely have a space. Any questions, call two zero seven six six seven three two four four, calling the property is required. It is important that you also check back to your app to see if they ( hipcamp) have sent you communication pertinent to your reservation.

THOMAS POND
Thomas Pond is a beautiful 533-acre freshwater with miles of shoreline. Thomas Pond’s maximum depth is 64 feet, and the mean depth is 22 feet. Our guests are welcome to kayak, canoe, swim, fish, and paddle board from the shores of The Queen’s Property. Access to your private waterfront is a short stroll through our woods. As our guest staying at The Queen's Property, you will also have access to the Watkins Shores Road Association's boat launch. Our new dock is available to dock your boat during the day. However, there is a small fee to dock your boat overnight (see "Extras") at our site. Just make sure you check for Milfoil or any other invasive plants before launching.
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS NEAR CAMP
Within 5 minutes of camp, you will find all the essentials, ice, firewood, goodies, gas, and RV supplies. In fact, you can even order your groceries online for pickup, at Hannaford Brothers Grocery and Walmart either on your way to your campsite or when you need to resupply your camp
During your stay, you may also want to take a trip off-site to explore all that the Lakes Region offers. Explore the historic oceanfront City of Portland, or the local Towns of Windham, Naples, or Bridgton. Closer to camp, enjoy strolling through the Town of Naples. A short 8-minute drive from your site, Naples spoils its visitors with boat rentals, waterfront shops, and awesome restaurants.
Further north is the Town of Bridgton. Bridgton offers its visitors a quaint downtown filled with local retailers, pubs, and restaurants. Enjoy the beaches of Crystal Lake which sits on the edge of its downtown borders.
The towns of Raymond and Windham also offer our visitors numerous restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, and gas stations. Once again, all within a short drive from your campsite (3-4 minutes). If your idea of exploring is centered around outdoor activities, then Sebago Lake State Park is a 1,342-acre park that abuts the shores of Sebago Lake. Within the park, you will enjoy protected forests, bike paths, and Sebago Lake beaches.
The park and the lake host some of Maine's’ best sandy beaches, water sports, fishing, boating, boat rentals, camping, picnic areas, boat launches, extensive woodlands, a wide array of critters, hiking trails, and walking trails.
The Queen’s Property is a short drive to numerous mountain ranges, forests, and peaks, all of which contain hundreds of miles of ATV and hiking trails. There are over 25 hiking trails within 10 miles of The Queen's Property and over 115 trails within 20 miles.

Not far from the foundation of one of the more established farmsteads of the era, this campsite is tucked away from the road down by the rushing Bull Branch of the Sunday River. Whether you bake on the rocks after dipping, or toss a fly in a quiet pool, the river will soothe your soul.
Explore endless mountains streams, trails to the Appalachian Trail, and remote dirt roads in the heart of the Mahoosucs from your secluded walk-in low impact tent site with privy. Deep swimming holes and trout fishing beckon.
There are five sites in total. Hillside, Riverside and Fireside each have a picnic table, they all share a fire pit and a privy and are on the side of the road closest to the river. Main Eastside and the North site also share a fire pit and privy, Main Eastside has a picnic table, these two sites are across the street from the river which is just a short walk away.

Hillside: the smallest site available and closest to the parking area, other campers will need to access their sites by walking past this campsite

The site was lovely and as expected - riverside with a picnic table and a nice wide flat surface for setting up our 2-person tent. As described, it is a fairly steep (but wide) path to get down to the site, though we managed even after dark with head lamps on and a slow pace. There is a shared fire pit for all three sites at one of the sites. The privy was clean, well maintained, and centrally located.
The host, Abi, was responsive and provided detailed information about how to get to the site, the expectations, and amenities.

This is the best hipcamp site I've seen so far. We have stayed here 4 or 5 times and will definitely return. My son asked to spend his birthday here this year.
There is a wood stove, comfortable beds and even a little electricity for lights. It is very private and quiet. It is well kept and tidy. Dogs are welcome.
