When this area was originally settled, the farm was located on the "highway" from Camden to seasonal pastures in Lincolnville. The trails leading to the park still go by the old foundations that dotted the old Government Road from Camden. The farm has 46 acres of flowing pasture, hardwood forest and flower and vegetable gardens. At the heart of the property is a large farm pond that has been used to water livestock for generations. Please bear in mind we live in a residential neighborhood.
Additionally, the fires cannot be wider than 3 ' or highter than 3'. So, not exactly a bonfire- but a small cooking fire is okay.
But LLBean, and Shaw's Grocery, HomeDepot and Walmart are less than 5 minutes away in downtown Ellsworth.
We will provide you with potable water. Use of shared compost outhouse.
And, we sell you very good firewood for a competitive price.
Sites are with drive -in access or park and walk 120 feet into our woods sites.
We welcome dogs on leash. Minimum two.
Limit 5 to a site.
Quiet hours 10PM to 8AM are mandatory.
We live on a dirt road, so a speed limit of 15 for 3/4 mi. is required.

So gravel pit is being mined for materials to maintain whole gravel section of Egypt lane (private road.) It’s 2 miles of gravel road . Then it will be reclaimed also . The pit is not to be explored . Also is not part of the campsites that are booked . There is plenty of flat land to stay safe In the meanwhile . there are sites that are semi complete wooded partly . Until they grow back . Your booking $ helps fund all of these projects that I do . Plenty of acres to explore quiet and peaceful. . Egypt stream flows around half the property .Gated for your security. A lot of nature . Wild life present. please leash your pets there’s porcupines around ! . Peaceful Close to a few parks and Acadia national park. Lemoine state park is very close . Bar harbor also . Campfires are ok no bonfires tho. Good access road for your RV. The amazing views include Owl's Head lighthouse and Matinicus island in the very far distance, sunrise over Ragged Mountain and the Camden hills. To the north the Dixmont, and Bangor areas are visible. Watch the sunset to the west over Sennebec pond and Appleton ridge. To the southwest Mt. Washington may be just visible on a clear day. 75 acres of open fields and woodlands to explore at your leisure.
Among the hidden gems you might find are the original homestead foundation, a vernal brook, a distant field that is totally secluded and an oak tree with a heart! Deer, wild Turkeys, Hawks, Owls and Bald Eagles are frequent visitors. You may even stumble upon wild raspberries and blackberries, if they're in season.
The small town of Union also hosts the Maine Wild Blueberry Festival. The Lobster Festival is nearby in Rockland every August.
No other campers are visible from your site - so you get breathtaking beauty all for yourself - and those with you!
Note: Part of the land is a working Wild Blueberry farm and as such, on rare occasions, the quiet is interrupted to care for the crop. Should that take place we will credit you with a free day's stay.

We are off the beaten path in the forest near the White Mountain National Forest. A 6 to 8 minute hike from your site gets you to a private lake.
We have two local waterfalls only 2 miles away. Drive back out to 5 Kezars road. Take a right on the paved road. It will turn back into dirt. Keep on this road until you see a beautiful stone house on your left. Keep going just up the hill and you will see a right turn into the woods where you can park. There are no signs for Kezar gorge. Hike towards the sound of the falls. There is a small cave under the falls you can climb up into if you are a strong swimmer. There is a second set of falls if you hike down the river. A most magical spot for sure.

Virginia lake is in the White Mountain National forest and is only 6 miles ( a ten minute drive away) Sometimes you have to hike in a bit to get to the beach. Very private. Shallow beach is great for children and dogs.
Keewayden Lake Dam is a fun place to swim in a local lake. Only an 8 minute drive
Keoka lake has a nice beach with a dock to swim too. !0 minute drive

We are set high on the piney east bank of the Kennebec River. The view is of the setting sun over the untouched hillsides on the opposite bank or the rising sun illuminating and bringing to life that same hillside while you take your first peak of morning. The river rushes by, not a house to be seen. In the distance a loon frolics and sings out it's soulful call.
Bald eagles soar over head, fishing, scanning the river valley. Owls hooting in the valley, come closer in the night to see who is still up. There is an echo in the darkness, works during the day too. The stars blaze overhead in the night sky, watch "satellites" track across heavens and the Aurora Borealis, if you are lucky and still up around the camp fire.
It is here in front of our camp, where The Kennebec River continues to flow but begins slowing down, stacking up depth behind the Moscow Dam and turning into Wyman Lake, 14 miles of the most scenic boating or paddling you can imagine.
200 yards north of the camp, The Appalachian Trail crosses the river, watch hikers waiting for the famous canoe ferry crossing. Or, hike a section of the trail, Pierce Pond is a healthy 2 hr hike from the camp, to a pristine pond for a remote dip or some fishing.
Bring that kayak or stand up paddle board, the river is fun right here, explore for an hour, a day or days. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing are huge in West Forks, (10 minutes North up 201, watch out for deer and moose) you'll paddle The Dead, The Kennebec and the Penobscot rivers, all the major tour companies are very local and there are cool bars and restaurants.
You can tube down from the Forks right to the cabin in a couple of hours.
We have a big high and dry platform for your tent and the whole space all to yourselves.

Toad Hall is a heated, one room, 8x8 cabin in Harrison, Maine, with access to the Bear River for wading and swimming (depending on the river height.) There is a firepit at the cabin, along with one down by the river. Firewood is provided. The lower area by the river is a beautiful place to hang out, pitch hammocks etc... The cabin is near the road, which is great for loading in and loading out, but you will hear/see cars drive by. (Read our reviews, we stand by them!)
There is no running water or bathroom on the property so please bring a camping potty and do not bury human waste! The Bear River, which is a beautiful spot to swim and wade in, runs right through the property- but it's also drinking water and a protected watershed. Again, please make sure you have a camping potty plan.
Cabin Features: There are 2 cots inside, but also feel free to bring your own pads/bedding. There are solar lights inside, along with a USB plug to charge small devices. It is a clean, warm, dry room, with beautiful light and good ventilation with the windows cracked.
Nearby places you will like: We are within walking distance to downtown restaurants and public swimming area on Long Lake. There's also porto potties next to the walkable country store, which has everything you forgot to bring. Also a great ice cream shack, and an above-average watering hole, The Olde Mill Tavern.
This is a self check-in/out, so expect an easy arrival process (and we'll ask you to please leave the property prepared for the next guest to arrive.)

This was a great spot right near the Long Lake public beach, within walking distance. The cabin was very clean and well kept. At the bottom of the small hill site was a second campsite with a teepee and hammock, next to the river. Very relaxing place to be! The only downside is the site is about 20 feet off of the main road, so some traffic noise. There is also a rooster cock-a-doodle-doo very early in the AM that lives next-door. Mike was a great host and we really appreciated all of the wood that was provided!

We loved the Toad Hall cabin! My partner, dog and I went stayed for a night in June and it had everything we were looking for. The space was tidy, modern and thoughtful. Harrison is a perfect spot to go get into the outdoors and the cabin is located close enough to walk into town for dinner or ice cream. We will definitely be back again.

I loved this place from the moment I arrived. What stood out most to me was how accurate and detailed the listing was—it clearly explained what was provided, what wasn’t, and gave a great sense of the land and surroundings. Because of that, everything met or exceeded my expectations, and the entire experience felt seamless.
The cabin was clean upon arrival and fully stocked with everything a camper might need.
One small note: it’s located on a main road, but I personally didn’t find the traffic noise to be an issue during the day or night. For light sleepers, a pair of earplugs should do the trick. I also reached out to the host a couple of times with questions about nearby trails, and they responded quickly with helpful and thoughtful suggestions.
If you’re looking to experience the beauty of Maine, this cabin is a fantastic choice.

Loved my stay at this tiny A frame cabin. I think for the money, the pros outweigh the cons.
Cons: road noise all day kinda ruins the vibe. But traffic tapers off at night and it didn’t keep me up. No bathroom, but that’s upfront in the description so bring a camp potty or make the 2 minute drive into downtown and use a toilet there. Firewood was wet from recent storm, so maybe it needs to be better covered? I was able to get a fire going but it wasn’t easy at first.
Pros: Close to downtown with ice cream, delis, and a sit down bar/restaurant if you don’t feel like cooking. Beautiful clean cabin with cots already set up. Two fire pits with wood to burn. 10 second walk down the hill to a chill space with 2nd fire pit, hammock, and a dock into the small creek to dunk in. Quiet area besides the traffic and no close neighbors really.
Overall I enjoyed the space and was happy not to have to set up camp after a long hike. Would recommend.

Though the cabin is situated along a highway, once you were asleep you didnt hear any of the road noise at all. The cabin was perfect size for two adults and two dogs. It fit our double wide camping mattress with room to spare. The cabin has great ventilation and even a mini fan for extra circulation. We loved the river at the back of the property, it was like having your own private oasis, deep enough to wade in and cool off. We loved our stay at Toad Hall! Can't wait to visit again.

Mike's little a-frame is so cool. There is a good amount of room for 2 people to sleep in there, 4 if you ditch the cot and just do sleeping bags on the entire floor. You could also put your own air mattress on the floor for even more of a glamping vibe. He provides you with tons of firewood which I always appreciate. Another plus was the bucket provided to put out the fire.
The area is great! There are several pretty beaches and restaurants within driving distance. I wish I could have stayed longer. (:

I had a great stay at Toad Hall Cabin. Super convenient location (close to lake and in town Harrison. Fairly close to the road but little no traffic at night. The spot down the hill by the river was pretty peaceful. Cabin was clean and well equipped. Planning on staying again soon and would definitely recommend to others.
