Our 67-acre retreat on Gore Road offers a private, quiet escape into the Maine woods, with a mix of pine and hardwood forest, open clearings, and access to Conant Brook flowing through the property. Whether you’re relaxing by a campfire, exploring the woods, or listening to the sound of running water, this is a place to truly unplug and enjoy nature. At the same time, the property is perfectly located to explore some of Shapleigh’s hidden gems and the pristine wilderness of York County. Nature lovers will enjoy being minutes away from Walnut Hill Preserve, a site of statewide ecological importance where you might spot rare Blanding’s turtles. If you’re looking for views, the trailhead to Abbott Mountain is just a 6-minute drive away, offering a moderate hike to a ledgy summit with panoramic vistas. For a more relaxed outing or family-friendly experience, Williams Town Park offers wide gravel walking paths, open fields, and two scenic ponds. History buffs and hikers alike will enjoy the Shapleigh Town Forest (Community Forest), located just 8 minutes away. This 1.7-mile loop trail features unique glacial “frost pockets” and passes historic 19th-century Boston Family Farm cellar holes. The forest also includes access to the Town Beach on Square Pond, a great spot for swimming and picnicking. We also encourage guests to explore local conservation areas through the Three Rivers Land Trust, including the Marjorie Dunnells Chadbourne Preserve and Hansen Pond Preserve in nearby Acton, where a short trail leads to a peaceful pond with a dock and community kayaks. After a day of exploring nearby lakes—Mousam, Square Pond, and Goose Pond—return to the complete privacy and quiet of your own wooded campsite on Conant Farm. We provide a small building with a compost toilet for guest use. There are small streams on the property where water may be available for filtering and purification. Guests should come prepared for a fully self-sufficient camping experience. Access is via a private, well-maintained, wide gravel road, so there is no problem reaching the site. Most vehicles, including large RVs, can get there easily. Parking and a turnaround area are available near the campsite. Informal walking trails are accessible directly from the site.

We had the site to ourselves. There's loads of downed wood aside from the starter pile left for us. The outhouse seems new and very clean. There are 2 breweries a close drive. Well positioned for hiking, going to beach, etc. You can hear some cars for from the main road but it quiets down at night, and it definitely sounds like it's in the distance. Though the clearing seems to be well maintained there were a fair amount of ticks so make sure to do your checks!

Perfect little private area with no other sites/building around. Plenty of space for our 20.8’ class b. The complimentary wood bundle was great and they have extra on site for only $5 a bundle. Blazed/mowed walking paths around the property were great for our dogs. I would definitely go back if we were in the area again!

This was such a great property to visit. Mel communicated important information in advance of our stay. We loved the privacy the site offered vs a traditional campground. It was very helpful that bundles of wood were available to purchase on site so it was one less thing to worry about packing in. We were concerned to camp during mud season but the weather cooperated and the ground cover was great even if it would have been a little wet out. Mel was a great host and we hope to come back and visit again soon!
