As a seasoned hipcamper, this has to be my favorite site so far. Kim and Scott were beyond amazing hosts. They started a fire for us and provided so many accommodations due to the crazy weather during our stay. They are so friendly and welcoming. If you are looking for somewhere that is central to all of the best hikes that Red River Gorge has to offer, this is the ideal site. I will absolutely be booking at the Kilns again.

What’s not to love about camping just a short walk from an incredible brewery? Turtleback Ridge Farm is a fantastic host for the Kentucky Open Road Race Series, and I had the privilege of camping there the night before a race. Although the weather was dreary and the rain relentless, the property still offered a peaceful, spacious spot to pitch a tent and rest up undisturbed. I didn’t get to fully appreciate the farm’s beauty this time, but I’m already looking forward to a return visit. Highly recommend to anyone in search of a laid-back, convenient campsite in the area!

I've stayed at around a dozen hipcamps around the country, and I have to say, this is one of my favorites. It is completely private and there is much to explore right there on the property. Easy communication with the host, available water, and a few minutes drive from some cool hikes in the red river gorge. I'll definitely be staying here again if I'm in the area.

We loved bringing our teardrop trailer to this beautiful private property! We are new to the area and this was the perfect spot for our family. We felt so safe and comfortable and had everything we needed! Our camper did wonderful by the pond! We did hiking every day at red River Gorge and it was so nice coming back to this nice private spot (spot by the pond). We did this trip in March so even though the nights were chilly we did just fine and everyone was sad to leave! Thank you guys for such a great experience and for sharing your property with us!

Kim was an above and beyond host! We were coming in late after hitting traffic, and she still met us to show us to our spot and she even started our fire for us. She gave us a great recommendation for Creation Falls, which ended up being one of our favorite sights. It was fun to chat with her about it when she stopped to check in that evening. I highly recommend that you book a stay here. I’m sure Kim will take great care of you too.

We had such a relaxing stay at Handyland. The cabin was so cozy and the stars were absolutely stunning at night. We walked the trails and they are beautiful. Don’t miss them. Josh made sure we had everything we needed. Our dog was able to get some exercise and explore. We all left happy campers and would definitely stay again.

we stayed at the top shelf and it was our first time coming to this site and it’s amazing! a ton of space for tents and activities. the view is amazing, se saw a fon of stars at night, and its pretty secluded (besides the bar side lol). we will definitely be coming back and booking the bar side!

We're a family that loves to camp; and while we love a stop at a KOA or community campground, we sometimes crave quiet time in nature without the noise and distraction of other campers. That's what makes The LAAAAND so special. The property is comprised of 50 pristine acres, with a mix of fields and woods, that bump up against another 250 acres owned by our family friends. The southern perimeter of the property is all cliff line, so you feel truly remote. The possibilities of sound pollution are limited to a far-off dog barking, horses being ridden down a nearby trail, or the possible hum of a distant lumber yard. Other than that, you'll mostly hear the wind rustling trees, deer and critters making their way through the woods, and possibly a waterfall at certain times of the year. Oh, and you will absolutely hear whipoorwhills, most likely at a time you'd rather not (we've decided they're charming). Over the nearly 2 decades we've owned this property we have spent countless weekends enjoying the simplest of pleasures; watching butterflies dance in the tree canopy, having dance parties at sunset on the deck, forging new trails and hiking into the unkown, sitting in the truck bed late at night gazing at a star-covered sky counting shooting stars. Our remote 375 acres part farm and part natural woodland nestled up to Daniel Boone Forest is ideal for hikers and nature lovers. There are several hiking trails onsite and plenty of woods to explore. ATVs or side by sides are welcome to be used on the main gravel roads and some designated areas of our property. There is plenty of wildlife around but no hunting is allowed. Our designated tent sites do have firepits and picnic tables. Our trek in sites do not have those options. Pets are welcome for $10 per pet/per booking and they do need to be leashed/under control at all times. This is an extra so please be sure to add that if you plan to bring your pet. Please pick up after them. We are a short driving distance from West Liberty, Cave Run Lake, Grayson Lake, Carter Caves, Morehead, Natural Bridge and Red River Gorge. We are approximately 20 minutes from the nearest store so you'll want to come prepared. We are located in West Liberty (Morgan County). There is a centrally located bathhouse with toilet, shower and sink and a hose for potable water. We have firewood for sale for $15 per bundle and is an extra option when booking(use what you need during your stay and it is located at the tent sites), you can bring your own and you are welcome to gather from the surrounding area but please do not cut down any living trees/limbs.

Very level, easy in and out with vehicles. Fires permitted in season. WHITETAIL SANCTUARY: Every night for decades a herd of whitetail deer graze in this pastoral setting. Drive in and out, fires in season. Suitable for a family sized tent. THE PENNINSULA: This camping spot is WALK IN ONLY. You can drive to the trailhead on grass and walk the path to the campsite (about 200 yards). One of two remote sites. It sits in the woods, on the bank of a wet weather creek which flows around two sides of the campsite. Fires permitted in season. TOTEM TREES: This site is WALK IN ONLY. A short hike down the hill from the grass parking area and you have a small spot for a tent, in the woods, surrounded by trees and a lot of standing dead ash which appear as if you are in the presence of totem poles. NO OPEN FIRES. MUST USE BACKPACKER STOVE AND FLAMELESS LIGHTING. SPOTTED FAWN HIDEAWAY: This totally secluded walk in campsite is suitable for a small tent only AND PERFECT FOR HAMMOCK CAMPING. Locally, we're a few miles from Georgetown, home of the Brown County Fair, AKA the 'Little State Fair', the last week of September, as well as numerous festivals throughout the year. Georgetown is also the childhood home of Ulysses S. Grant (as indicated by the handful of murals throughout town!), and his childhood home and schoolhouse are popular stops.

The Folsom Flats

This is my home residence in the small town of Dry Ridge, KY. I am just 20 minutes from The Ark Encounter and historic Williamstown. I have a small pond to camp next to either with a tent or RV that has electric and water hookup outside of my detached garage. Behind the property and surrounding the farm of 125 acres is eagle creek. Swim, fish, canoe, or kayak for additional fun and relaxation. There are walking trails and if not too congested side by sides are welcome as well. If the creek is low, there is a lot of fun to be had collecting clamshells and other various unique items that the waters bring. Wood can be purchased for campfires if desired. A small fire pit will be beside the campsite and a larger one down by the creek. Come sit by the pond and fall asleep to the sound of the frogs chirping and other wildlife.

Property is located on top of a hill overlooking a hilly view of fields and forests. It is next to a cattle farm and across the street from an 18 hole Public Golf Course. Seven minutes from West Union where there is food, gas, shopping available. Five minutes from the Ohio river and downtown Manchester. Fifteen Minutes from historical Maysville kentucky, accessible via a bridge from Aberdeen, Ohio side. There are several boat ramps in to the Ohio river from Aberdeen. Twenty minutes from Amish store The Millers and a Petting Zoo. Thirty Minutes from Shawnee State Park. 80 minutes from Downtown Cincinnati. In the evenings if the sky is clear the star gazing is phenomenal. There is a nice breeze on the hill most of the time. The sunrises and sunsets are to die for. We can provide a long outdoor extension cord for electricity and hose for water. We live right by the road and the bulk of the property is behind the house and to the left side. It’s mostly field with a line of trees and small stream on the left edge of the property.
