1 night at Sheepy Acres

This is our second stay at the cabin. Love the new RV style shower and toilet on the property. Swimming hole just outside the cabin. Convenient parking right next to the cabin. Love the picnic table, fire pit with grate and included firewood. Lots of trees for hammocks. Great ventilation with windows, electricity allows for charging, lights. There is a mini fridge and fan. Bed is very comfortable. Love love this place. Sweet kitty and her mama came to visit. The host is just the absolute best. Super responsive to help with anything. Actually remembered us from last year and where we had camped before. Love the surrounding Amish towns. Such a great get away!

First of all, Titus is a great host. He showed us around so we knew where everything was. He was always available if we needed something and he also told us we could message him if we needed anything. We really liked the shepherds hut. It has a loft to sleep in. Under the loft, there's a bench that turns into twin bed. A small table, shelf , and stool. It's a great place to talk, play games, watch nature. The sheep are great. They watch over you all night . When my daughter and I walked by, they were standing in huddle watching us.

Titus’s property was AWESOME. My son and I just spent a night there, but we feel we go the most of everything Fisherman’s Wharf had to offer! Swam and used the water slide into the pond, did a little fishing, saw the sheep and farm kitties (my son’s favorite) and cooked out on the campfire. Would definitely recommend and would love to make another trip there in the future!

We had an exceptional time at Sheepy Acres during our 5-day stay. The host, Titus, was incredibly welcoming and attentive, always available whenever we needed assistance. The campsite is primitive but thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The swimming pond was a highlight—clean, refreshing, and a hit with the whole family! The site is neat, well-organized, and set in a beautiful Amish community, adding a unique charm to our experience. It’s a truly family-friendly retreat where we made unforgettable memories. We can’t wait to return!

Have already recommended Sheepy Acres to my family!! Peaceful. Beautiful. Tyson is a wonderful host. The pond and shower are a wonderful asset. We will definitely be returning. Campsites are amazing with firewood provided. The site were all secluded from other sites. Our big pup was allowed off leash and had a great time. Kittens were adorable and really tolerated our big pup. The birds and owls at the crack of dawn was a really beautiful thing to hear. Highly recommended.

Cole was warm and welcoming. Obviously loves his property. The Cove was secluded and very shaded, sitting right next to the pond with a pleasant breeze.

Weekend Trip to Happy Hollow Homestead

We had a great time camping at Happy Hollow Homestead. The weekend we went was during the neighborhood's Summer Solstice party, and even though we didn't attend, it was a good time. (We were invited to the party, just chose not to go because we were honeymooning.) There is practically no cell service in the whole area of Marengo, but Kerry has wi-fi over the whole property, so we were still able to be reached if needed. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will definitely be back.

Our family of 5 had a great time camping at HAPPY HOLLOWS! The property is very unique and had many features that stand out from other campgrounds. Kerry was very attentive and had many great stories to tell. The dogs on the property were all so sweet, and a great surprise for our kids. We would gladly come back in the cooler months

Weekend Trip to Martin H.’s Land

The site really is out in the woods and secluded, we loved it! Hiking the grounds you will want full length pants and hiking boots, it is very rugged but the waterfall and creek area are close to the site and great to see! We went to nearby Depauw nature park and Fern Cliff nature preserve, both within 15ish minutes away and beautiful places. Martin and Jennifer were very helpful and friendly with directions. I would recommend this site, especially as a good option for hiking the dozens of nearby parks without staying in a crowded campground.

Brian’s property was just as described. Several hundred acres with numerous private campsites. The terrain varies quite a bit from walnut and oak groves near the entrance to secluded deep green camping farther in. Brian communicated with us during the day of our arrival and the met us outside as we drove up and escorted us to our site based on on rig and preferences. First rate stop!

Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There is a porta potty near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you cannot drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) We are working on a garden greenhouse, a 20 foot yurt with wood stove, and Chickens with Fresh Eggs laid daily (available for purchase) Owner works from home and is always a text away. Laurita's Casa Vieja

The farm is located 15 minutes west of Indiana Universities Memorial Stadium. The property is nice and private. The farm adjoins the 75 acre Stranger Hills Organic farm, the oldest organic farm in Indiana. Our 1899 Farmhouse is the only residence on the entire farm. There is a 3000 acre farm to our south. The area is quiet and very private. The campsites are in a grassy walnut grove by a small creek that runs along the eastern border of the property. We have a white deer creek cabin tent on a platform there and 3 or 4 nice level campsites to the north. There is a shaded RV site at the top of a small hill with 30 amp service. We can accommodate a large RV on packed gravel with 50 amp service. the farm is located 15 minutes east of McCormicks Creek State Park. There is a composting toilet and an on demand hot shower in a small building adjacent to the campsites. There is a YMCA about five minutes East of the property. \\\

With Amish farms and families all around. The Mirror Lake Bunkhouse has all amenities. You are welcome to cook over an open fire, use the grill or the small kitchen accessories provided. don’t forget the option is always available to go out to dinner with a restaurant only 4 miles away. Although we are located in the middle of the country. You can wake up to beautiful sunrises or take in breath taking sunset in the evening. The lake is a private lake owned by three property owners. Our Cabin # 2 “Old Phil” Is located on the west side of the lake in a 15 acre woods. About 1-1/2 miles away is Our cabin # 1 “Little Elk” Is located near the little Elkhart River. Nestled in its own 10 acre woods. Both of these properties are primitive ( no running water in an out house for a bathroom). Firewood is provided and there are trails in the woods to walk. The Mirror lake property has been a family farm for over 185 years. There is a family cemetery that dates to 1832. If you want to be around a lot of people in the fast track this is not the place for you. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, tranquil, social distance but still enjoyed this is the place for you!

The Hideaway is located on private property in Otis, Indiana. Two canvas tents line our man made, creek fed lake. The lake is over 6 acres and approximately 35 ft deep. The lake is stocked with catfish, bluegill, bass and other fish perfect for fishing. Wildflowers and natural paths are available for walking and scenic photoshoots. The property is near the toll road. Some guests do not notice the noise others have been more sensitive to it. There is space for each site to have privacy, or just a short walk to each if you are booking both. Each site has their own shower, flushing port-o-john, fire pit, dining area. There is a shared space near the lake which includes lounging furniture. We proudly do not have wifi and encourage our guests to unplug and relax!

Each campsite is private, ensuring you won't have anyone camping right next to you. Sites accommodate from 3 to 7 tents, each with its unique charm and surrounded by ample firewood. Depending on rainfall, a pond occasionally fills up, providing a great opportunity for catch-and-release frog and toad adventures! (Nets provided or use your hands like a pro) Meet our two domesticated squirrels, "Big" and "Little," who are always hungry and love pecans. Please be sweet to these two precious babies. They are the squirrels that don't run away from humans. Wake up to the delight of fresh eggs, straight from our homestead! Home Sweet Home, tucked in the heart of agriculture and lake life, Angola is a wonderful small town in the north east corner of Indiana. Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

North Indiana

Further east, industrial towns pepper the road to Amish Country, where you can check into a rustic log cabin in the woods or camp by the lake in Chain O’Lakes State Park.

Central Indiana

Indiana’s central plains are dotted with laidback market towns, cornfields, and lakes. Indianapolis pulls in crowds for its summer motorsports events, most notably the famous Indy 500, but campers can easily escape the city for nearby Mccormick’s Creek State Park or Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Just to the south, Brown County is home to Monroe Lake, the state’s largest lake, hemmed in by Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park.

Southern Indiana

Hilly southern Indiana is blanketed with woodlands, most notably the forested trails and canyons of Hoosier National Forest. Come in fall to hike against a backdrop of foliage or canoe along Sugar Creek, one of the state’s top paddling destinations. Further south, the Ohio River Scenic Byway draws adventurers to hike, paddle, camp, and fish.
