Small hobby sheep farm, with a sheep pasture surrounded by woods. There are two shepherd's huts, three tent sites, a small fishing pond with a log cabin and a quarter of a mile hiking trail. It is a bird lovers paradise with a large variety of birds. The fisherman's cabin has electricity and AC (AC is new for 2026 season). The shepherd's huts and tent sites are off grid. Each site is very private and has a fire ring and picnic table and benches. Cabin has a queen and a twin bed, linens provided. Shephard's huts have a queen sized memory foam mat with linens. Shower hut has hot water and is shared with all the campers.

You can explore our interesting topography that has close to 100 foot of elevation changes, our (mostly) dry creek system that starts with 2 springs that drain into 3 sinkholes or walk 3 miles of trails (if you follow each trail from end to end).

We welcome pets for camping, but no pets allow in the Camping Cabin. Also be aware that we have 2 friendly dogs on the land that roam freely.

Songdog Meadows is our little piece of joy, from morning swims in the pond, long walks with our retrievers and sunsets to take your breath away, it is truly and deeply a treasure we cherish. The property host a variety of apple trees, open grass land, and a large cluster of trees surrounding a 3/4 acre pond, while being surrounded by wood lots on three sides and open fields to the west. It is truly a peaceful haven in a rural country area. Learn more about this land:Hang your hammock or pitch a tent just outside our 3/4 acre pond. There are two basins with a channel and a peaceful tree filled grass area between. The pond is in the corner of the 10 acre lot where we live at the end of a dirt road with only a small amount of traffic. The camp site is walk in on mowed pathways, with the driveway and parking area less than 200 yards away. There is a security light so you will never be in complete darkness. A stone fire pit and picnic table sit just off shore of the swimming area of the pond. There are several wide mowed pathways surrounded by prairie grasses, shaded by large trees. The area can easily handle several tents, hammocks and small RVs. The area is rural farm land with a handful of houses on the short dirt road. But this property is surrounded by wood lots and open fields. Two neighbors houses are visible but separated by trees. Our house is visible from the pond and camping area.

Dogs must be on a leash in the camping area, given the above features of a working livestock farm, the quarry ruins, the operative railroad tracks, and the river (not suitable for swimming), family friendly (children under the age of 18 must be attended by adults at all times).

When we bought this property in 2013, it was a little run down. Many years ago, it housed sheep and cows. We revamped our little 15-acre farm and continue to improve its looks. Now it is our home and houses my riding stable. Many people have commented on how nice it is. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share its beauty and the animals with others.

We have 3 spots to pitch a tent, but we're pretty flexible. If you see another area, please ask!. Site "Woods" is most secluded. We now have a cabin!! Our "Chalet". It will sleep 4 and has some great amenities. The others are around our grassy barnyard area where you're able to enjoy all of our different animals!. All sites are 2-5 mins from the main house. You will be staying on our horse farm. We have many chickens, bunnies, a potbelly pig, feeder pigs (depending on the time of year), and our 4 house dogs. We offer overnight equine amenities as well. There are 2 showering options and restroom available.
You can enjoy a small fire (weather dependent) or listen to the crickets and frogs under the starry night. Actually, you can do it all. We offer trail rides on the horses as well, (extra charges). You can even book a trip to the state park to ride the horse trails, which is only 15 minutes away. There is a great fishing lake less than 1 mile from the farm, so bring your poles and kayaks. Or rent ours!
There is a Dollar General, 2 gas stations, and a liquor store in our tiny little town if you forget anything. Walmart is 12 minutes North of us.

My first time on Hipcamp and I found this gem he welcomed us in on super short notice. I’d highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a nice get away or just someone passing through it was so nice we stayed an extra night. Be careful in the shop! Everyone should consider this site when they want some time away. Our multiple day stay was better than we imagined. The pond with water slide was perfect to cool down on the hot summer day. My family loved waking up and walking right out the front door for some morning fishing.
This location was close to town if your forgot anything and need to run to the store, but far enough away that you can back and enjoy the quiet. Every once and a while hearing the trotting horses, and the sheep and chickens dtarting the day.
The host was beyond hospitable, everything was clean on arrival and if you forget anything they probably already have it there provided.
Will stay again in the future, thanks for the great experience!!!

Titus was an outstanding host—friendly, welcoming, and always available without ever being intrusive. He gave us a tour when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed.
The Basswood site was private, spacious, shaded, and just a short walk from the clean outhouse. The free firewood was a huge bonus, and the bathhouse was one of the best we've ever seen at a campground, with hot showers, towels, soap, and anything else you might need if you forgot something.
The lake was beautiful and well maintained, with swimming, fishing, a slide, and free life jackets and floaties. Even after heavy rain, we had no trouble getting in and out in our Hyundai Kona because the grounds are so well maintained.
The campground was peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by Amish country, with plenty of nearby antique shops, markets, and restaurants. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thanks again, Titus!

Dave's farm is gorgeous and the camper is very comfortable and pleasant. The bed feels as comfortable as any bed, there's a sink and AC. I wish I could have spent more time there!

What a beautiful setting! We really enjoyed our stay. It was an easy in and out for our rig and there were walking trails to take the dogs on a walk. We even got some lovely produce! We would definitely recommend this stop and will stay again next time we are in the area.

Beautiful and peaceful place to stay!! My kids loved swimming in the pond, seeing the sheep and playing on the pirate ship! And allowing our dogs to be off leash was amazing!

Very convenient location off major interstates. Easy to find. Very pleasant campsite with level spot for tent and a picnic table. #3 has a large willow tree for shade. You park right at yourr site so easy to unload/load. Portajohn is clean and they had a handwashing station set up. Would stay again.
Only bummer were dogs at houses nearby that barked throughout the night. Nothing the host can do about that, but plan ahead with earplugs if that is an issue for you.

Nice private and quiet place. I had no problems with my low ground clearance car. Fire pit and chairs available but I didn’t use them. The mosquitos are out in July force here, but I was prepared for that. I slept comfortably in my car, and had no issues. I’m sure the site changes through the seasons. I would stay again.

Where to go
North Indiana
Indiana’s most Instagram-worthy landscapes can be found at the state’s northeastern boundary. Sloping dunes and sandy beaches line the southern shore of Lake Michigan, and Indiana Dunes National Park has tent and RV camping right by the beach. Further east, industrial towns pepper the road to Amish Country, where you can check into a rustic log cabin in the woods or camp by the lake in Chain O’Lakes State Park.
Central Indiana
Indiana’s central plains are dotted with laidback market towns, cornfields, and lakes. Indianapolis pulls in crowds for its summer motorsports events, most notably the famous Indy 500, but campers can easily escape the city for nearby Mccormick’s Creek State Park or Morgan-Monroe State Forest. Just to the south, Brown County is home to Monroe Lake, the state’s largest lake, hemmed in by Yellowwood State Forest and Brown County State Park.
Southern Indiana
Hilly southern Indiana is blanketed with woodlands, most notably the forested trails and canyons of Hoosier National Forest. Come in fall to hike against a backdrop of foliage or canoe along Sugar Creek, one of the state’s top paddling destinations. Further south, the Ohio River Scenic Byway draws adventurers to hike, paddle, camp, and fish.
