Small creek near residential area. Choice of wide open spaces, partial or full shade spots available. Short walking trail along the creek line is maintained. 'Rocky Cross' Geocach nearby. Please be aware that if we have had a lot of rain, the creek side spots may be too wet and difficult to get back up the hill with the wet grass. If this is the case, we do have the gravel barn driveway that can accommodate your stay. During peak busy season, the barn drive may have additional guests due to site, weather or general camping conditions. The barn drive offers a view of the creek area about 100 feet away and is about 175 feet from the patio common area. A suggested route from traveling North on State Route 127 to Camp Rocky Run is to turn in Camden, OH on State Route 725 and head East to Wayne Trace Road.
!! NOTE on RV types !! You must have a self contained RV with on board restroom facilities. We have no restroom facilities available. For this reason, we do not offer tent camping.
!! NOTE on camp fire location !! The fire ring provided on the shared creek side patio is the only spot a camp fire, of any kind, can be built. (Sorry, but we have had too many damaged spots in the grass from the use of 'portable' fire ring units.)

If it is too wet to access the creek side spots, we can still accommodate your stay in the nearby barn driveway but if you are unable to back up with the 'toad' then a detach will be required. Our beautiful 1800’s cabin was moved to the property in the 1970’s by a former neighbor who owned the property at the time. The same neighbor also had a historic train depot moved to the property where she sold antiques out of for several years. It is not sure what the cabin was used for at that time but it certainly added charm to the antique store property. When we acquired the property years later, the cabin was in need of work. It sat for a few years until we decided to restore this lovely cabin back to it’s beautiful charm and character. Jim spent a couple years on the project working in his free time and added the porch using old wood in keeping with the natural look and feel of the cabin as well as some interior areas. Upon completion, we opened the cabin as a gift shop selling unique items including antiques, primitives and decor for a few years. We decided to transition the cabin into a place of retreat for traveling guests and still keep some of the goods we sold in the shop available for purchase. We hope that you find the cabin and property a place of peace and tranquility and will want to return. Away sits at the entry point to western Boone County in Northern Kentucky — neighbor to Cincinnati, Rabbit Hash, and the Ohio River. Our 27 acres mark where rolling farmland gives way to steep, forested hillsides. End-of-the-road and ridgetop, it's private by nature. Campsites are tucked in woods shared with turkey, deer, owls, and woodpeckers. Wander wide strolling paths, single-track hiking trails, open fields, and forest — or settle onto the porch of a historic log home.
We're a quieter, acoustic kind of place. Great for travelers passing through or locals needing a quick and beautiful outing. Solo campers, friends, families — newbies or seasoned. Drive-in sites make loading and unloading easy.
Amenities: Privacy! We book only two sites at a time, set far apart and wrapped in woods. Also included: an exceptional outhouse, tables, fire rings, lanterns, and a Welcome kit (paper, fatwood, lighter, candle). Firewood available during booking or on arrival.

Our 22 acre property is perfect for people who want to get away. There is only one house visible from ours. Its very quiet and secluded. We offer 50amp service, water hookup and dump station if needed. There is WIFI also available for RV Campers (we are in the country so it is what it is). There are 2 sites. One in the woods for tent campers and one up above for RV campers. We do not have showers or bathrooms for campers. The Big Blue River boarders the whole property. We have kayaks we could rent out if someone needed them or bring your own. We have a large fire ring up above and a more compact one for river front, with the first wheel barrow load of wood free.
We are close to I70 and have a nice little convince store and Dollar Store about a mile away that will have all the necessities. Plenty of room to park at both sites.

We live off of a gorgeous winding tree lined road between Knightstown and Carthage. Our property has several options for you to tent camp or we can accommodate large RVs. Please keep all animals on a leash or contained. We do live in the midst of cornfields and forest where racoons, opossums and our pets live. We have outdoor kitties Reginald is a big gray boy who will try to climb your leg if you stand still long enough! lol Abigail is our outdoor pooch and she does like to roam outside during the day. We also have a new to our farm rescued Great Pyreneese that is adjusting! She is in an enclosed pen behind our barn and should'nt cause you any trouble. What once started in the mid 1800's as a 240 acre sugar maple tree farm is now our little 18 acres of heaven on earth. Our house was built on the property in 1875.
The land is rolling and dotted with flower beds, animals, and beautiful green grass that is mowed weekly. We are bordered by fields and a cemetery that dates back to the 1800's.We are neighbors with those who grow crops, raise beef cows, bison, and alpacas.2 blocks from our driveway is Blue River which offers fishing, kayaking, tubing, and canoeing (if you have your own equipment). Town is 2 minutes away, but there is not much there other than a convenience gas station, aTodd's Great Outdoor Bait Shop, and an engine repair shop. There are often festivals, open Music Jams and community events. "Civilization" is a 30 minute drive to find movies, grocery, shopping, and a public pool. The sky appears to be scattered with diamonds on a clear night and during season the fireflies light the trees up like twinkling lights at Christmas!

We have an 18 acre mini farm, close to a small town and near a river. We have two small ponds that can be fished in during the early spring, wildlife, and birds to watch. There are 6 very nice areas for camp sites that allow for privacy and relaxation. Each site has a fire pit and table. We also have just put in a new out house and have a port-a-potty for our campers to use. We are 10 minutes from Interstate 70 and only 30 minutes from Indianapolis. If you are just passing through or arriving late, let us know and we will be happy to have a campfire started for you.

I have two properties which offer two different kinds of camping, which I have tried to itemize separately in the Hipcamp listings. The pictures were hard to sort out.RV's and Campers will park on the upper level at the Panama Street address which has water and electricity. You cannot actually see the Ohio River from the parking lot, but it is a short walk. Any pictures of water were taken from the tent camping site. If you are in a large vehicle, but are looking to spend a lot of time by the river,, you can hope that the site is available for use, which usually it is, (somehow I rarely book both places at once), or book both sites.
Tent campers set up their tents right beside the river. There is a very simple house with a bathroom, cold running water, electricity, and also provides shelter in bad weather. It's an unusual set up, as perhaps Hipcamper spots often are. It feels like the middle of nowhere sometimes on these (small, very not fancy) properties by the river. Small planes, trains, barges and pleasure boats, and motorcycles pass by at times. AI wrote that people have called it trashy. Not so!
California is just a few minutes off I-275 from the Kellogg exit, and a 15 minute drive from Cincinnati. It is the eastern-most neighborhood with a quaint village feel. Safe, flat, scenic and walkable, California offers several dining experiences, one a brewery, and quite a variety of recreational experiences. Riverbed Music Center, in season, is a mile away, walking distance, as is Belterra, the race track/casino. The bike trail is a few blocks away and connects to all the other area bike trails including the Loveland Bike Trail along the "Wild and Scenic" Little Miami River. A local nature preserve, California Woods, offers hiking and nature programs, and there is even the California Golf Course. A park with large, grassy open spaces and small playground is a few blocks away. Bring your game of horse shoes, corn hole, a frisbee to throw, your skateboard, golf cart, or some bikes just to cruise around and take in the scenery. The Little Miami River flows past Armleder Park a few miles away, which has a gravel river beach, a dog park, walking and biking trails and connects to the 5 mile loop around Lunken Airport. There is a lot to do in Cincinnati.

Absolutely loved our stay here! The campsites felt private and secluded, making it the perfect peaceful getaway. The views of the water and surrounding farmland were beautiful, especially in the mornings and evenings. We spent hours exploring the woods, relaxing by the creek, and enjoying all the wildlife around the property.
The host was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful from start to finish. They made us feel right at home and even offered to show us around the farm and trails. If you’re looking for a quiet nature escape with amazing scenery and great hospitality, this is the place. We will definitely be back!

This was our second time staying at this beautiful site on the river. Randy is a great host and easy to contact. The site is well maintained and hasnice, level concrete pads. The fishing was good and the bird sightings were amazing. We saw Bald Eagles every day were there. The entrance and exit are a bit steep, but we have managed them both times. Overall, this is one of our favorite places to camp. We look forward to returning soon.

What a wonderful spot! We were the only ones camping and it was entirely peaceful. Seeing the barges float by was such a cool thing to see - the kids loved it! Having a cement pad was super helpful and a nice amenity. We went to a town nearby (Rising Sun) for a picnic and a walk along the river. I would not consider this spot if you do not have 4WD.

This was the perfect secluded getaway. Peaceful, and the creek provided great sleep sounds. My dog absolutely loved the open space and freedom to explore—it made the experience even more special for us. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, making sure everything was comfortable without being intrusive. Overall, a truly great camping experience. Will be returning :)

We loved bring our Airstream Interstate Class B camper van there. We ere able to pull right off the dirt road on top a level area which mae this site super easy. There are actually 2 ways to get to the sites. We went through the back side which made for no turning around and an easy departure in the morning. We odered wood from our host that was delivered right to your site upon arrival. The sunset was amazing! We walked down to the beverage company on the property for drinks, dinner and live music, then back to our site for a bon fire and games! LOVED our stay. We will definitely be back!!

Private and peaceful campground. I live less than an hour away and didn't know this area exited. Her farm animals (horse and donkeys) greeted us upon arrival. There was a trailer house next from the camp site but there was some distance and it did not bother us at all. RV site is not next to the river, but Polly was kind to let us use the tent site next to the river while we were there. This area is so convenient and lot of things to do.

This is a great Hipcamp host and property. Incredible creek side views a plenty of area to walk along it. If you enjoy primitive and private camping.this is it. I can’t wait to return! In addition to the scenery the resident farm dog Iris is a fantastic host, social director and guide. She knows all the best places to swim and sit in the shade. The site is wonderful! A nice private space on a beautiful property. Camping next to the water was so relaxing. The hosts are friendly but not at all intrusive. Some of our plans were cut short by rainy weather, but if we are in the area we will definitely be back.

I loved my overnight stay at Away at Green Hill! The property was beautiful, and had a remote feel without being too isolated. There are multiple sites, perfect for families or an individual getaway.
I enjoyed the trails and log cabin. The host was very attentive and easy to reach. Will definitely be back!

I almost want to keep this spot a secret for myself, but I won’t be greedy. It has everything I could want in a campsite: a huge fire pit, a picnic table, a heady-duty table with propane stovetop, a swing overlooking a shallow creek, and an outhouse. Well-maintained trails and very close to Sycamore State Park. I believe they only have one campsite which is super nice when you’re looking for some quiet time away from people : )

We had a really great stay here! The property has some fun, unique touches (like a UFO, some aliens 👽, and creative birdhouses) that made it interesting to explore. The amenities were super convenient, especially having a bathroom with running water and firewood provided. We really loved the wine tasting, fishing, and stargazing. The hosts were amazing, and we and our dogs had a great time!

Beautiful Area! Will definitely be back! Teri was very responsive and the welcome kit was a great touch.
Just beware of ticks! Me, my husband, dog, and two kids each got a tick bite, but that is to be expected being out in the woods. :)
