Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar-powered as we are not on the electric grid. Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Wonderful place to stay! Hosts are amazing people, and they are very knowledgeable about the area. Very close to Savannah and many other beautiful places. I will definitely be staying here again!!!!

This is really a wonderful spot! If you need a place to unwind, relax and heal this is the perfect spot for it! I spent 5 nights here by myself car camping in tent spot 1 and it really did wonders for my well being! It's so peaceful and quiet, nothing but fresh country breeze and some cows walking by once in a while I am so glad and grateful I found it. I really needed it. I wish I could've stayed longer! 💯🏕️

If I could live here, I would. As it is, I’ll just visit while I can! The IGA is 6 min away but when you’re there it’s 600 miles away. There is wildlife and neighbors. My only complaint is I’ve discovered I’m allergic to no-see-ems and they live here. So strong bug repellent, but if you have a problem with that, camping isn’t for you anyway :D

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was quiet and picturesque. The only problem i had was the site sloped from the middle down making the step down out of my RV little high, but I will definitely be back. I just have to remember my step next time.

I can't say enough good things about this spot. If you need a place to unwind, relax, heal, this is the place to be! I stayed here for 5 nights by myself car camping and wow am I glad and grateful I picked this spot! It helped me so much, it's so peaceful, fresh country air, I absolutely loved it. I wish I could stay longer but I have to get back to work💯🏕️

Weekend Trip to Cassabl Farm

We had amazing time tent camping here. We got to meet Steve and April as they brought wood to our campsite when we first arrived and they were very kind and answered all our questions. They told us all about the budding vineyard visible from the campsites and how it will soon support a winery that will be opening next year. We were lucky enough to be able to try a few of their wines and they were all delicious. We'll definitely be coming to visit the winery once it opens up! The camp sites were all well mentioned and felt safe and secluded. There was plenty of firewood available to purchase and the porta potty was clean and centrally located. My wife and I explored the property a bit with our dog and it was very nice. The sunset view of the marsh at the far edge of the property was absolutely gorgeous and it was really cool to be able to walk around the vineyard and check out that area of the campsite. We will definitely be coming back to camp here regularly!

We had a great stay at Hertzen Platz. The tent was very spacious and as comfortable as the photos and previous guests conveyed. Gary was a welcoming host who clearly cares about the land and delivering a top-notch experience, breakfast was awesome as well!

Weekend Trip to Running Water Creek

It was perfect for my traveling needs. I spent majority of my time during the day hiking in GA/TN so it’s perfect to return to in the late afternoon to relax. The Bath House was very clean and the dogs that roam the property are very friendly. The trains were a bit loud and busy during the night, but it is manageable to sleep through if you’re good at tuning it out. Overall, it’s great for a place to set up camp for the night and wake up early to continue a drive or to hit the trails.

I had a wonderful stay on JoLane and Sam's place. JoLane offered prompt replies and all information needed for arrival. Sam (a veteran) met me and guided me to Site 4. We had a nice chat about local going-ons... all the more making me feel at home. The site was just right for my Colorado and 16ft camper. That being said, this site would be perfect for single or multiple tent camping! I enjoyed the peaceful feeling of being in remote, deep woods... without really being far away from conveniences or access to major roads. Do yourself a favor a spend a night or two here!

I loved this place as back a couple of miles from the main road, one of the quietest places I’ve stayed at. Lots of space for large venues. Nothing going on while I was there which was nice. Would definitely come back.
