Our 501(c)(3) Non-Profit campsite has soft opening under way! This means we don't have many frills, but we are by far the closest RV site to central Atlanta, and the only one on MARTA public transit (right outside the gate). We are a rare gem in this city. One of the last areas that have been allowed to return to nature after being farmed until the 1960s. We are surrounded by 100s of acres of parkland, and yet are only 5 minutes drive from almost everything you will need. You will see the hand cut terraces put in by the farm workers and then the forest has spent the last 50 years taking it back. Still lots of old growth trees around though. The county just purchased/swapped 50 more acres to go with the hundreds more under it's watch. There is a 14 mile concrete trail that runs behind the property and all the way out along the south river. Quite the hike or bike if you fancy a good walk. There is a 18 hole golf course, sports fields, public pool and YMCA type community center all along the trail and walking distance from the campsite. We are a 501c3 non-profit church that is still in the early days of it's mission. Your donation to our site helps fund our mission and keeps the lights on. We are massively focussed on permaculture as the only sustainable way of life and rapidly moving towards being totally carbon neutral. You will be up close on our early days and see our Solar Roof Cabin (a total of 300 panels and 70kW output when completed). We make a lot of our infrastructure from windfallen and site development trees that are cut and shaped on our own electric sawmill. Much of the rest of the renovations are done using upcycled and donated materials. We are working towards: Total energy and water independence Total structural material independence Food independence via aquaponic farming Providing solar powered refrigerated space to local food distros Providing local kids (and adults) access to training on permaculture and living with minimal impact on the planet. Teaching people so they can teach others and pay it forward. Come support our mission by staying with us. Help out with your building or farming or engineering skills if you like. Naturally tax deductible financial donations are always helpful and help speed our progress. Our non-profit campground is surrounded by an 8 foot tall cedar fence, and has two large powered gates to ensure your security and keep your things safe. Each campsite is around 25 feet wide, and depth up to about 50 feet. A homemade log rustic fence divides the sites. Zoning limits non permeable ground cover, so all sites are covered in a packed black gravel with allows water through but keeps the mud off your shoes. Each site has NEMA 14-50 outlets rated to 6000W at 240Volts. If you are on 120V system, please bring a converter, or we can make steps to accomodate you also. We have excellent water pressure! Maybe too excellent. So make sure you have a water pressure regulator (we have them for sale or to borrow also).
