Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

The meadow is a personal favorite! Tom happily invited us on a tour of his wonderful farm. Doing so I learned so much about the fame and the 200+ years of history that lays beneath him. The farm house that overlooks the sheep pasture is (for reasons unknown) built around a 200+ year building that has the original shingles on it. He gave us a tour of the sheep meadow, donkey pen, cow field, and the rest of the property. All the while keeping us engaged with his story telling of the land. He convinced us to try to feed the sheep and cows and that they were friendly. Personally I have never fed farm animals before so it was a pretty cool experience! All the animals are used to people so there’s really no need to be scared. They all ate out of my hand! The cows were gentle and the sheep…. Really tried to get the food haha. There is plenty of dried fire wood all over the farm so bringing your own wood is not necessary. Unless you don’t want to cut down branches with an axe. But whats the farm experience without cutting your own wood. The meadow DOES have a small outlet and has electrical connections if you need to connect an RV which is a plus. The meadow was stunning at night. Overall the entire experience was nothing but positivity and good conversations filled with laughter. Highly recommend driving out and enjoying the time away from technology at Glenn Farm!

Weekend Trip to Two Larks Camp & RV

Very sweet and quiet spot with fantastic bathrooms and a kitchen. Stephen was kind and helpful. We were the only campers and the stars were beautiful. Having a hook up and water right at the site was great as we do a lot of boondocking without those. The porch was a great place to hang out and the sites were shaded. Thanks Stephen for letting us stay on short notice!

Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

Arrowhead sink and Glenn Farm is a fantastic little get away! We booked this trip and Judy met us when we arrived. She graciously showed us the way to the camp site. She gave an inviting tour and showed us where the sink was. The sink is part of an underground river system. The sink is clean and free of trash. In fact it was so clean that it smelled like fresh moss and stone. The way a cave ought to smell. The sink is VERY deep but VERY refreshing in the summer time. Our entire campsite was overlooking a field which was very peaceful. Overnight you could hear owls hunting in the distance. The stars shine very bright and is very quiet. But if you are a beginner camper like myself, it’s still nice to hear civilization from afar as you get used to camping. Judy and Tom are both very friendly and love meeting campers. The entire property has many acres of farmland. This campsite and farm is a wonderful getaway for a day or two. Located just north of Gainesville most people take only a few hours to drive in. Overall highly recommended and plan on being back to this quaint farm. :)

Weekend Trip to Glenn Farm

We were in a camper and we were able to run ac on the 110 but made sure we didnt overload with multiple things running. The field was beautiful and fairly level. There is a picnic table, fire pit and some shade. Be prepared to wash off shoes cause youll get muck on the bottom which, hey its a farm. The donkeys were unbelievably friendly with my dog. We enjoyed connecting with nature and the animals. The open land helped to keep bugs away with wind. Tom was so cool and wish I lived close to hang with him more. Felt like visiting with a friend.

This is my second time staying here and I absolutely LOVE it. Both times ive stayed at the cave spot and it's just beautiful. Tom and judy are both wonderful hosts and the farmland is incredible.

This spot was so lovely! We stayed in the A-frame cabin that was cozy, we loved our campsite and this spot. Our last night of the three we heard the crickets and frogs chirping and it was pretty magical. Bummed we didn’t get to tour the farm, next time!

3 nights at Kokomo Farms

I have stayed here before back in 2023, and I can say the same as I did then it is so magical here! Just the place I needed to be for my spring break from college to relax and enjoy nature stress free. The horses are so gentle and I enjoyed feeding them. Waking up to the roosters is so much more inviting than an alarm lol. Trudy is always the best host! My partner enjoyed all the games around and it got quite competitive! We also enjoyed some painting at the little paint station. I really recommended checking out the springs around in the area! But to top it off, my partner loved this place so much he proposed here! Like I said everything about this stay was magical and I can’t recommend it enough!

Glenn Farm

The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

These beautiful pollinators have been on Earth about 175 million years from what we can gather from fossils. Beyond the splendor that would be lost from the world if monarch butterflies went extinct, there would be ripple effects in the environment. Monarchs share their habitat with many other species of insects and birds. The birds would lose a food source, and their decline is the proverbial “canary in the coal mine” for other pollinators. If other pollinators decline like monarchs, it could have impacts on the food that humans rely on. This year (2024) we hope to finally get the Monarch Butterfly put on the endangered species list and see them rebound in numbers. So when you stay here you are also making a contribution that provides a safe chemical free environment for these super pollinators to multiply once again. 30 acre vegan farm sanctuary that really lives up to its name! This eco-retreat is located at Peacefield where we rescue and rehabilitate farm animals - this space helps support the mission, so we and the animals really appreciate you staying with us! We're minutes from town (1.5 miles to the Jonesville Publix) yet totally private. You'll have 8 beautiful acres all to yourself with power, water, and super fast internet. Our caretakers home is about 500ft away but you'll be facing west for the stunning sunsets through the oak trees and won't see it. Although they're ready to help should you need anything. About 1500ft away, and not seen, is the main house, gym, and sauna. You'll be surrounded by stunning Florida nature and most importantly dozens of rescued farm animals that now call Peacefield home. During your stay they won't be in your field but you can say hello through as they'll be your neighbors across the fence. We're also more than happy to give you a farm tour anytime during your stay. You're also welcome eat anything that is ripe on the fruit trees or that is ready in the garden. You'll also have access to our gym and sauna which are shared. It's about a 10 minute walk away up towards the main house. There you'll find a Peloton bike, peloton treadmill, peloton rower, yoga mats, TRX straps, a few free weights, AND Finnish sauna! It's a sanctuary for humans too :) Please note there is no restroom or RV hookup for waste. Vegan Stuff! Because we rescue farm animals we ask that no animals products be brought in, cooked or consumed on property out of respect for them. Please keep it 100% vegan. If this is new for you, as it was for us at first, don't worry, it's way easier than you think. Oatmeal, avocado toast, black bean tacos, etc. Whatever you already love, just veganise it. And the nearby Publix, or pretty much any grocery store, will have vegan pizza, burgers, and nearly anything you'd crave. We know this lifestyle might be new to you but it's the best thing we've ever done. Your stay could double as a cleanse from the standard American diet. Again, the sanctuary lives up to it's name and is an incredibly special and peaceful place. Run down the tree covered road, do yoga under an oak tree, enjoy the sauna, take a Peloton class, read to the chickens (they love a good story), meditate with the pigs, and so much more. Peacefield is a retreat and a tranquil escape for animals and humans:) We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the this space directly supports the animals and our mission. These funds will be used for food, medicine, rescue operations, the emergency vet fund, and so much more! Location One of the coolest things about this place is that it feels so private and secluded yet less than 2 miles to Publix. Approximately 10 miles to downtown Gainesville, The Swamp (UF Stadium), The University of Florida, Whole Foods, and more! This is also a perfect launching pad to explore all the amazing natural springs in north central Florida. Ginnie Springs, and Ichetucknee Springs State Park are some of our favorites - and you're more than welcome to borrow some tubes and pumps. Although we're a little ways from the beach we do have beach chairs and umbrella for your use. Cedar key is about 45 minutes and St Augustine or Crescent Beach is about 1.5 hours. We live near one of the most beautiful roads for running and biking. Tree covered canopy for miles! Guest access Interacting with the animals. You can feed them and say hi from outside of their enclosures and pastures, but do not go in with them unless we are with you. Please always shut doors and gates behind you - they are sweet but escape artists :)
