Those who enjoy catch and release or catch and eat are welcome. There is also an abundance of blackberries and elderberries you are welcomed to pick which usually begins mid May. Guests can also enjoy many different types of wildlife, birds, chickens and even Black Angus cows meandering around.
Monarch Manor Farm is also an official Monarch Butterfly weigh station and safe respite for migrating butterflies. These beautiful pollinators have been on Earth about 175 million years from what we can gather from fossils. Beyond the splendor that would be lost from the world if monarch butterflies went extinct, there would be ripple effects in the environment.
Monarchs share their habitat with many other species of insects and birds. The birds would lose a food source, and their decline is the proverbial “canary in the coal mine” for other pollinators. If other pollinators decline like monarchs, it could have impacts on the food that humans rely on. This year (2024) we hope to finally get the Monarch Butterfly put on the endangered species list and see them rebound in numbers. So when you stay here you are also making a contribution that provides a safe chemical free environment for these super pollinators to multiply once again.
All three sites are right around the pond with great views. A combination of large live oaks, shade and sun All sites also have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Site 1 has your choice of 110 and 30amp power. There is no power at site 2, 2A or 3. The bath house is equipped with 2 showers. One shower is heated by geothermal means and the other by a tankless hot water heater for evening showers. There is a foot pedal hand sink, portable-potty, and seating. All water is filtered and drinkable. There is a fish cleaning station equipped with a garden hose. Only 22 minutes from either Ocala, Fl or Gainesville, Fl. and 5min from Hwy. 75

What an amazing place Rob and Mike created to share with those looking for great camping! Spent New Years at Lucky U Ranch, and it was fantastic! The sites are huge and far apart. Facilities are very well kept. Got some unexpected guests when the horses and mules decided to say hi. You will not find any better hosts, very attentive… met me at the gate and took me to the site, shared about the site and hiking trails on property as well as checked in daily and provided more firewood when I ran out. Happy to have found another place to add to my “visit again” list!

This place is special. We’ve been twice & can’t wait to go back. With our 6 & 7 year old sons, it’s great to get out of the city and really feel like you’re in the country. With all the animals walking throughout the day, (especially morning, horses) it really makes the area feel magical. Great bathrooms with hot showers is a plus! Can’t say more about this place, words can’t describe it!

We had an amazing weekend. My kids love the horses and donkeys walking around the campsite and it’s fun meeting and seeing all the farm animals on the ranch tour. We enjoyed learning about all the animals. :) Mike and Rob are awesome hosts and go above and beyond. Very peaceful camping atmosphere, we will be back again

Another great camping trip with my granddaughter Miya.! We have been here many times this year already! This is Miya's favorite place to camp and she really doesn't want to go anywhere else. She just loves the horses and other farm animals! .Rob and Mike are the best hosts and are so accommodating. They work hard every day on keeping the property so nice and clean and the guests comfortable. They really do go above and beyond! We really loved all the Christmas lights and decorations they put up. We hope to be back very soon! This is a great camping experience for anyone at any age and I would highly recommend it.

It was a very convenient location. Surprisingly quiet, we felt very safe. Across the street we were able to access the Cross Seminole Trail with endless recreation trails and parks! Perfect for us and our pup. But perhaps the best thing was the fantastic outdoor shower! The BEST shower since we hit the road 12 days ago!

Very nice place. Rob & Mike are excellent hosts and their 30 acres of beautiful country setting is a great place to camp, hike, and enjoy the peace and quiet with animals roaming the land. Not your average campground which makes their place unique. Highly recommend

Horses, donkeys, pigs, chickens, turkeys, pony’s and a ton of land to run free. This place has it all from beautiful animals to a simple an very relaxing spot to camp. I have been back twice and I’ll be going again in a few weeks with another group of friends to enjoy it all !!

Well this place is just magical! Rob and Mike were excellent hosts to a pristine oasis of a camping ground riddled with donkeys, horses, and live oaks with Spanish moss drooping from its limbs. The extra creature comforts sure were nice! I hope y’all leave your lights on all year round. They are beautiful! Thank you for keeping us Georgians warm while she gets her bipolar weather together.

We had an awesome time at Lucky U camping for a weekend in mid-December. Rob and Mike were excellent hosts, both very responsive and hospitable on site. The ranch’s facilities (with the hosts built themselves!) were in pristine condition and well-appointed with extra towels, indoor-style plumbing and even a full camp kitchen. Our tent campsite was quiet and secluded in a nicely shaded spot. Interacting with the animals on the farm during the day was a blast. We could not recommend their camp more.

This camping experience was incredible! The land is beautiful and cared for, the property felt private and exclusive, yet was very easy to navigate; the roads well maintained and accessible for any vehicle. Large flat beautiful areas for multiple tents under the trees or in the open, and plenty of room to park and lay out blankets to star gaze. Rob and Mike were wonderful and available, met us at the gate and led us to our spot, showing us all the important points. The horses and mules were adorable and friendly. SO many birds to listen to when awakening, and the stars at night were incredibly bright. Bathroom area was clean, and not only stocked with shampoo and conditioners, but also coffee, creamer, and hot chocolate! We went to swim with manatees one day, but honestly could have stayed and just enjoyed the scenery just as happily. It was heaven. We missed the tour, but trust it would have been lovely as well. We will definitely return!

Where to go
Leesburg Area
Leesburg has docks, boat launches, and fishing access to both Lake Griffin and Lake Harris. Both Leesburg and nearby Tavares offer RV travelers a variety of RV parks and RV resorts with full hookups and wifi to choose from.
Lake Griffin State Park
Lake Griffin State Park is just 10 minutes north of downtown Leesburg. This tranquil park offers kayak and canoe rentals and boat tours on Lake Griffin. There’s a 2-mile sandhill and swamp trail here, plus a 400-year-old live oak tree that sits at the park entrance. Book a spot at the campground for an RV or a tent—both come with picnic tables, fire pits, and restrooms.
Lake Louisa State Park
For an even more immersive lake park, head 40 minutes south of Leesburg to Lake Louisa State Park. In addition to six lakes, this 4,500-acre park has seven miles of paved trails and 20 miles of multi-use trails through hilly terrain. The park has a developed campground for RV and tent campers, as well as primitive campsites for backpackers, and bike and kayak rentals.
Central Florida Springs
For incredible spring sites close to Leesburg, the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge and Rainbow Springs State Park are each an hour away.
Ocala National Forest
The massive Ocala National Forest can satisfy any nature lover’s craving for wilderness, wildlife, and outdoor adventure. Home to alligators, black bears, and over 100 bird species, this preserve has miles of hiking trails and multiple primitive camping options.
When to go
Each spring, Leesburg fills up for Bikefest, a 3-day music festival and motorcycle rally. Otherwise, the area is busiest in winter and on weekends. You can enjoy outdoor activities in Leesburg’s subtropical climate year-round, but summer tent camping can be a challenge due to high temperatures, humidity, and rainfall. Summer travelers may be happiest in lodging or RVs with climate control.
