Once you land in paradise you will wander thru the looping trail system to find your campsite. There are (5) campsites with elevated tent platforms tucked back in the trees. Once you are settled in,  it is time to gather wood and build a fire in one of the (2) 8 foot wide,  2 ton concrete fire pits.   Awake a dawn with a nice kayak/canoe trip on a secluded water trail thru mangrove islands and stop for lunch at River's Edge Bar and Grill across the river from the island.  Having too much fun, take a nap in hammock and rock to breeze and sounds of river.  This is an island is accessible via water only so there is some preparation to get here and stay here.  Kayaks, Canoes and a shuttle are available if you don't have your own transportation.  Please contact prior to booking to ensure you understand the packages, for example,  if you want to rent the whole island for yourself and need transportation for your group. This quiet and serene corner lot is 13 miles from Animal Kingdom, 15 miles from Magic Kingdom, 19 miles from Sea World, 23 miles from Universal Studios and only 30 miles from Lego Land!! The Publix grocery store is right outside the community and a WaWa gas station is 1.5 miles away so you can easily gas up when you leave. Our space is totally private, fenced in, and features a clean swimming hole with a beach!  About the property Our property is near Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park and Lake Okeechobee.  If you’re looking for places to visit for the day or services nearby, you can head to Okeechobee, which is only 20 min away. Lake Placid is only 40 min, Vero Beach is only 1 hr, and Melbourne is 1 hr 30 min.  All of the listed locations offer great opportunities for fishing, hunting, swimming, and beach hangouts. Each of the sites allows for watching the livestock, hanging out at the watering hole, and sitting around the communal campfire. Our favorite things about our property are privacy, amenities, and all of the roaming mini livestock throughout the property! Your hosts do not live onsite however, will be available to you during your visit. We are friendly and as non-invasive as we can be. We do love meeting our guests and are available for any questions that come up. Our primary purpose when developing this property was to create a safe space for children with special needs and their families. We are a no judgment zone and adhere to Hipcamp's inclusion policy. About the listing: This listing is for a day trip, or a back-to-your-roots, overnight tent camping trip. Guests will choose their dry-camping location after a tour of the property. Weekend Trip to Island Retreat Florida

We enjoyed our one night on the island. We kayaked to it. Got everything set up at camp. Did some fishing from the kayaks. The large fire pits were excellent for entertainment during the night as well as cooking our dinner and breakfast. The island is right on the river but very private with the way Eric has kept the trees around the outside parameter of the island. Also take a hike over to the west side of the island to a bench that was nice for sunset. You can’t see the actual sunset due to the land but still great colors in the sky.

Loved this spot! We were able to tent camp on their land and enjoy all of the sweet silly animals. Bobbi was so sweet and accomidating! During the day we went out on hikes in the nearby kissimmee prairie preserve state park and at night we laid out on the trampoline an looked at the stars (even saw a few shooting ones!).

It's a sweet funky spot off the beaten path. The hosts are so friendly and accommodating. An animal lover's gem; they have goat's, mini cows, pigs, chickens, horses, mini horses, donkeys, a water Buffalo, and emus! My children loved interacting with the friendly animals and floating on kayaks in the pond.
