Welcome to Smokey Acres! This property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires out there. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. I loved the coziness combined with the ruggedness of the Barn. There were plenty of amenities to make the stay very pleasant, including a surprise of coconut water waiting for me in the cabin. The outside shower warms up very quickly and was delightful after a long drive. Polite communication from the hosts as well. I would highly recommend!

What a beautiful place!! Best kept secret!! I just loved the sprawling oaks, huge spots and very laid back vibe this place gave. The host was so sweet and accommodating! Thank you Hilary, we will be coming back to Smoky Oaks soon and bringing many camper friends!!

We used our tent as a visual block to create some privacy between us and the RV site next door (even though there wasn't anyone there)

We can’t say enough about this beautiful property on 7 acres. You feel enclosed in the woods with lots of privacy. Grounds were perfect. A little tricky backing in, but just take your time and you can manage it. It is priced under market. Making it affordable for most families and a great value. I hope Kate, the owner never sells this gem. It is a property of a lifetime. Springs are bubbling up all around the property. It is located at the end of one of the river’s many private tributaries offering tons of privacy with little boat traffic, I will never forget the experience at this camping site. I would love going back someday and staying longer. Just a note; there is no dock to tie a boat up. So you have to figure out another way to use your boat if you have one. There are public ramps within 5 miles. Swimming and kayaking is available on site.

We really enjoyed our stay at Dan's place. For us, it was a place where we could relax for a few days and get projects done around the house. Dan is personable, friendly, helpful, and considerate, touching base but allowing us our privacy. When the payment platform had issues, he was willing to extend our stay until I could get it worked out. The spot was flat, sandy but with grass, with beautiful old trees, and of course, his little farm. There is traffic noise but we are accustomed to that. Excellent spot to see a full moon! Very cozy and close to Brooksville, which has everything you need. We did Weeki Watchee and loved the little thrift store next door.

Weekend Trip to Pure Paradise Lebanon station

Great camping spot! If you follow The Crossroads on Facebook you can see what events are happening. There is plenty of space across the property. Rv spots are large and a few with full hookups. Several with just water and power and plenty for tent camping. The whole property is impressive with tons to do. Frank and everyone else out there are super welcoming. We will be back for sure. Thanks Frank for a great weekend.
