Set on over 60 acres along the Suwannee River, this historic property (formerly known as Suwannee River Cove) is under new ownership and being thoughtfully restored and reimagined as Oaken River. Towering oak trees — some hundreds of years old — provide shade, character, and a peaceful sense of place throughout the grounds.

Scallop Tyme RV Campground was once an abandoned camp covered in worthless Sand Pines. There was a cabin and sheds in the center surrounded by chain link fence topped with barbwire. The timber was donated and used to fuel nearby electric plants. Once the four acres was cleared and cleaned, the idea of a RV campground started.
During the early onset of Covid, my family remained in our adjacent camp because there was no Covid in the area and plenty of Covid at home. Cleaning and clearing the acreage gave us something to do. While cleaning the old, abandoned camp site inside the chain link fence; we found an old boat and motor, a Kawasaki motorcycle, and numerous civil war and Vietnam war memorabilia. The campground was opened in June 2020.

Animals on-site: Outside the fenced camp area, you'll find pet cows and donkeys—all friendly and never raised for food. Feel free to feed and pet them without crossing the fence! Ducks and chickens may wander near the camping area.
If you're towing horses, they are welcome to graze within the camping area. If multiple guests have horses, we’ll guide you to a larger pasture.
Pets are welcome! Just keep them leashed near the other farm animals.

The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Of the original farm, 600 acres remain intact and the Glenn family is trying to keep the farm as an agricultural operation. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

We tried to book a last minute springs trip with our family. We fell upon Oaken River because the state parks were full. I am soooo glad of that. Oaken River is such a gem. It is so well taken care of and loved. The owners showed up around the campground, made sure we had everything we needed and truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We have had a wonderful time camping here. The new owner proudly showed us all his new projects for this beautiful unique spot on the Suwannee River. He and his wife are creatively adding glamping sites and cottage. The RV sites and tent sites are sheltered by beautiful oaks. The property has several ancient oak trees and the beach on the river is one of a kind. The farm animals are a cool bonus. We will be back. Stephanie, Andre and family were very kind and hospitable.

An incredible stay! The property is gorgeous, very peaceful, and surrounded by beautiful nature. Having nearly an acre to yourself gives you absolute privacy and a wonderful sense of space where no one disturbs you. It is also ideally located just a short distance from the Springs. I highly recommend it and will absolutely be back next time I visit the area!

We recently stayed at Suwannee River Green Acres and had a great experience. The property was very private, peaceful, and exceptionally well-maintained. Everything was clean and organized, making for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location along the Suwannee River provided beautiful scenery and a quiet atmosphere where we could truly unwind and enjoy nature. It never felt crowded, and there was plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the outdoors. Great spot for me & my two boys. Plenty of space to run around & play games, new horseshoe pit was great. The property is so well kept. The lights on the trees & the stairs were great at night. So much provided like fire pit, grill, chairs, etc. Favorite part was fishing & swimming from the pier. My boys said, Capt C was one of the happiest, nicest people they have ever met, and I would agree. We will be back...in the fall...when it cools off. Lol. Thanks for a great weekend!

Wonderful weekend full of family fun. We had the BEST time making memories that will last a lifetime. Camping at Jerry’s was just easy and the nature and wildlife was phenomenal. The water felt so good on those HOT days and loved watching the water toys pass by on the river. We will definitely be back. 💙💚

It is a neat place. The covered camping spot was nice. The dock was well built dock and felt safe. Water was very low but when it’s back to normal can see it being a fun place for kids to play and swim. Nice fire pit. We will definitely visit again

We really enjoyed our stay! The property is well kept and feels secluded but you’re less than 5 min from a few stores and restaurants. There’s no visual barrier between the one neighbor but they were polite and not intrusive at all. It’s a very quiet area and it was great to kick back and relax. We loved hanging out by the river and our dogs were in heaven.

Capt.’s spot is just lovely. Super private, very peaceful with amazing sunset views! Perfect place to either paddle on the Suwannee River or a quick drive to lots of Springs! We did a few floats down Ichetucknee Springs about a 15min drive from Capt.’s place. He is a great host!

This is a large, covered, waterfront campsite. It has electric, water, sewer and a solid concrete pad as well as a covered dock. Jerry was helpful and left me to my own devices unless I requested help which is exactly what I wanted. He has a lovely property
