2 nights at Upper Shire Campsites Hudson Valley

Joanna’s sites are beautifully and thoughtfully laid out. The airstream was comfortable and fun to sleep in. Joanna was communicative and helpful. We saw turtles in the pond, a barred owl, lotsa birds and deer walked by too.

Weekend Trip to Stonecutters Ledge

This site was huge! It had everything and more! Our 2 nights there it ended up snowing and raining pretty much the whole time, but we made it work. The heaters provided were perfect, and the portable stove top still allowed us to cook under protection from the weather. The hot tub was a huge plus and there's even a hot shower and outhouse. Trails were everywhere but the weather wasnt ideal. Jay was a great host, came and checked in with us with any questions I had. Would love to stay again!

Weekend Trip to Tree Day Weekend

What a great place to camp. It's the most organized and thoughtful campsite I've used. Not to mention being alongside your own, private creek. The cabin was very comfy, with wood stove heat, and well laid out for its size. They even offer battery-charging power banks for your phones and other devices. The camp kitchen was full of pots, glasses, cutting knives, trash and recycling cans, and a very powerful camp stove — all under a rainproof awning. It even had two french presses, which I never expect to have. The campfire was well laid out, and if it hadn't rained and snowed (early April), we probably would have played the cornhole or other outdoor games provided. Even the bathroom was charming, especially for an outhouse. I didn't realize it also had a shower. Lake Minnewaska (good for scenic hikes along cliff trails above the water, plus a waterfall) is about a 15 minute drive with views along the way up the mountain. Also enjoyed the local microbewery (and its comfy couch near a fireplace), Rough Cut Brewing. Highly recommend, and hope to return!

2 nights at Queen's Cabin

The cabin had plenty of windows to soak in the morning sunshine. The best part is absolutely the silence that I’ve enjoyed the most. Can only hear the birds singing and the wind with the trees dancing. There’s a grill with propane so grilling can really spice up dinner. Theres a toilet and shower super comfy queen bed and a full sized refrigerator and freezer so if your thinking about just staying in and cooking you can definitely do that here if you plan to have a longer stay. A coffee machine for actual coffee beans, an espresso machine and a tea diffusing pitcher is also there for your convenience. There is no microwave but I bought one at Walmart which is 19 min from the cabin just to heat up my toddlers milk bottle and I returned it back no problem. It’s super dog friendly with the ample wood area that is fenced around the cabin. I don’t have a dog but I do have a 2 yr old toddler and everything is practically baby proofed inside. She enjoyed running in circles inside and playing with her playdoh toy set on the kitchen table that can seat 6. There is no tv but that’s the point just simply enjoy each others company. There’s is a Bluetooth speaker and boy we were jamming and dancing it was so much fun. I definitely recommend staying at the Queens Cabin and the host Sara was so kind and explained everything there is to know about your stay and she responds quickly should anything arise or for questions. Thanks so much we will be back and with a baby that’s due this May!!!!!

This was exactly what I was looking for, a relaxing weekend away. The place had the amenities I wanted and the seclusion I desired. I didnt want to camp in a tent or be to outdoorsie. Chose this location for the fenced in yard to let our dog run free. He loved running around and playing off leash. Would love to come back for another visit and bring the family.

So, the place is BEYOND beautiful I mean just breath taking so spacious and relaxing me and my friends had a beautiful relaxing time and really enjoyed our stay the only reason i would question staying again if i have to leave an honest review would be the fact that this property has tenants below its made clear with signs in the house not to be loud due to prior complaints and in the description when booking but when paying $400 a night and driving 2-3 hours depending where you are from for a get away then you want to enjoy your weekend and not have to tip toe around also this place is huge and can easily accommodate 10 people but i think max is 4 due to that reason possibly? Seems like a waste of such a beautiful huge space essentially. Otherwise i mean its very nice place clean and well kept.

Weekend Trip to Maple Corner Farm

My and my dog had a great stay at the Berry Patch campsite. The platform was perfect and the awning frame was great considering the weather during my stay. There was a rain forecast and the awning was perfect for my camping tarp. The surrounding area was great as well including the open field and various trails close by. My booking was out of season but David was very accommodating. I highly recommend this campsite. Thanks David!

Weekend Trip to Love Shack

This little shack was exactly what we needed to escape the NYC buzz for a couple days. It toes the line beautifully between camping and glamping—definitely not roughing it, but not luxe either (no potable water, and the bathroom, while clean and charming, is detached). It’s quiet, cozy, and surrounded by nature—frog calls at night, a crackling fire, and just… stillness. The space itself is small but thoughtfully set up. We brought our own pillows and blankets which made it extra comfy, and I’d recommend bringing a dish bin, soap, and sponge for washing up. The mini fridge was perfect for a short stay, and the toaster oven was great for simple meals. If you’re looking for a peaceful reset with just the right amount of comfort, this place delivers. Would 100% come back.

I came here with my husband and a friend to celebrate my birthday, and we had a wonderful time! This campsite is perfect for those who truly enjoy the outdoors. Jay was an amazing host—very communicative and attentive. He checked in on us and was always ready to assist when needed, which made our experience even better. A couple of things to keep in mind if you're booking in the winter: if you're sleeping in a small tent, I highly recommend bringing a heating blanket or some extra warmth, as it can get quite chilly. The cold made it a bit uncomfortable, but we managed. Jay does provide an air mattress, but since inflated items tend to deflate in the cold, a pump wasn’t available. Overall, it was a great experience, and we’d definitely recommend it to anyone who loves the outdoors and enjoys a hands-on, rustic camping adventure!

I loved this spot clean and very cute for a little get away with the hubs we enjoyed the downtown during the day as well, it did rain a bit so I wish they had the tent cover on the pop up tent that was over the table vs just the metal part of it so we could of enjoyed still being outside but still enjoyed 😊

Weekend Trip to Queen's Cabin

We are totally obsessed with this cabin! Really beautiful, totally toasty, and super comfy! The mattress is very nice, the shower heats up quickly and has great water pressure. It’s really cool that you can have your dog gated in on the porch, as well as so much area for our sweet Beatrice to run and smell all the things in the woods! We came here for our 5th anniversary and it did not disappoint! We can’t wait to come again! Next time we will bring nespresso pods because there is even a Nespresso machine already there! The perfect mix of luxury and nature. The whole street lost power overnight on our second night and we still are elated with our entire stay— that’s how good of a cabin it is!!

The campsite was Amazing. Unfortunately, the area was frozen in snow and ice, so running water was not an option and was really cold, but our dog had a lot of fun, and there was a heater in the tent to cut the chill air. The host was very kind to check in

Camp COVID Site 19

Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal space by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once you close the driveway gates, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We also have a bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! Come and stay and say hi!

The Little Witch Cottage

The Little Witch Cottage is a rustic charming cottage from 1929 with timber framing and Catskill blue stone flooring. It sits in the middle of our yard about 200 feet from our more modern home. We have about 9 acres set back from the road. The cottage has a queen sized bed, dining table, and small kitchenette. The kitchenette has a mini fridge, dishes, and an induction stove top. We recently wired this vintage beauty to run on solar power and has an outhouse with a composting toilet, sink, and heated outdoor shower. This land was the homestead of the very first non native settler of the area, John Wiley, in 1787. Before that, it was the land of the Mahican native Americans. They named it "valley of the butternut trees", or Wyomanock. The Wyomanock Creek is the backbone of this little valley. Beaver have dammed the creek at several points to create ponds and other wetland features that support a diversity of wildlife including otter, moose and a myriad of birds, from osprey to herons. This sanctuary is host to many uncommon native plants and plant communities. We would love to share it with you! The bathroom and kitchen both have modern amenities. There's a wood stove but also electric heat and AC and hot water. Huge sliding glass doors open up to a wrap-around porch. No TV, but Wifi. There is an electric coffee pot, a French Press and a Nespresso. It sits on 5 wooded acres and nearly a full acre of cleared land is fenced, making it safe for dogs to run off leash. The house sits within the fenced in acre so you can conveniently open the doors and let your dogs run free. There is one visible house across the street from the front of the cabin but it feels very private in the back of the house. There is a firepit. There are two outbuildings onsite that are not available for rent at this time. The cabin is 20 mins from Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Mountain House, and 35 mins from Kingston, New Paltz, Gardiner, Phonecia and Woodstock. Local restaurants of note include Mill and Main, Roughcut Brewing, Westwind Orchard, Arrowood Farms, and Harana. The average height clearance is 6'2" so if you are tall this may not be for you. This getaway is perfect for those who are not convinced about camping in a tent just yet but are willing to test the waters in an actual cabin with windows, shades and a door! Nature is calling you but you'd rather sleep with the comfort of solid surroundings and air conditioning or heating. We get it! THIS is for you! So book your stay today....you will not regret it! When the temperatures drop, usually in November, we must turn off the water hose in order to preserve the hose and keep it from freezing. We provide water in 5 Gallon jugs for cleaning dishes and for personal hygiene. Please note, sometimes it gets so cold that the water freezes! During those times, we suggest bringing in water that you will use on a daily basis. You must bring in your own drinking water! We will provide you with a supply of paper plates, cups and plastic utensils! Water is typically turned back on in April. Winter camping adventure awaits! Staying at The Wasburn Cabin in winter months has proven to be an absolutely magical experience for hundreds of our guests. However, it does require a little extra planning and an understanding of winter in the Hudson Valley. Between November and April, the weather can have its extremes and does not allow for running water as the pipes will freeze and crack. Unfortunately, even leaving bottled water often just ends up being blocks of ice and not useable for our guests. We simply ask guests to bring in water during their stay to ensure a safe useable water source. We also ask guests to bring proper clothes. The insulated cabin does reach comfortable temperatures, however, extreme cold snaps can make it necessary to bundle up and cuddle with your main squeeze. If you are open to a little adventure and a little planning, come and enjoy our little oasis! If you are looking for high end amenities with hot showers and instant heat on demand, this is probably not for you and we suggest trying our outdoor experiences in warmer months. While we are located in a neighborhood, cell phone service can be spotty. We personally have not had any issues. We hope that once you arrive at the cabin, you’ll settle in and realize that disconnecting will help you reconnect to yourself! We offer limited wifi. Meaning, the signal may not be super strong but can help in getting you online to search the internet but may not be strong enough to stream. Monarch Meadows

This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). There's venues nearby along Rt. 209 with local musicians on Saturday nights: places like The Outpost Barbeque, 6611 Rt. 209 in Kerhonkson, Lydia's Cafe at 7 Old US Hwy 209, Stone Ridge. Near Lydia's is a favorite afternoon hang-out, Cherries Roadside and General, which not only has literally hundreds of ice cream flavors, but an excellent, informal restaurant. I can talk to you about many other fun places.

Catskills Forest Pondside Hideaway

With three private sites deep in the Catskills, this special land has a variety of mature trees, open meadows with ferns and dogwood stands, remnants of an old apple orchard, trails across old rock walls and mountain streams through gently sloping topography, and abundant birds, frogs, newts, and other wildlife. Plus one of the best swimming ponds in all of the Catskills! There are three sites: one tucked into a meadow in a forest clearing, another under a hemlock grove deeper in the woods, and a third reserved for Long Path thru-hikers who come down from the mountains for a break, which can also be overflow. All are off-grid and rustic but close enough to the house and parking area to have convenience, and far enough—and hidden out of view—to offer real privacy. (About a 4-minute walk from your shared toilet/supply/storage shed by driveway.) Tent area has cleared flat pads for two small tents. Location is far enough from things that you can walk a minute into the woods and feel lost to civilization, yet only two miles of paved road from downtown Windham and all that the cozy resort town has to offer. Makes a great basecamp for exploring the rest of the Northern Catskills, or a hideaway to stay and get lost in. Hike miles of trails and old logging roads in the Elm Ridge Wild Forest, starting literally steps from your campsite. Swim in the large spring-fed pond, or just watch the colorful koi swim. Sit around the fire and reflect on the day’s adventures. Or just take in the wide-open views of distant mountains and starry skies. Note: the only "Kitchen available" (Hipcamp's wording) is a grill over firepit. Also, toilet is a bucket-style dry composting toilet with urine diversion inside a protected shed. Camp site is a short hike along private trails from parking/shed area. Depending on weather/season, it's sometimes muddy.

There are a couple different places to camp. If you wish to have the entire island to yourself, please rent out both sites. If you are using the land for any special type of journey ✨🤯🐸… please let us know. We can offer additional support or services at additional fees. We can offer sound baths with gongs, bowls, etc., and other therapeutic guidance to make your journey as magical and expansive as can be. Set and setting🍄. One site is located just over the bridge and next to the fruit orchard and has a fire pit. Please do not take any fruit from the orchard. We are lucky if we even get any after the deer take what they want! The other site is by the stream and has a firepit as well. This is the most private location and is pretty deep into the woods. It is serene. There is a trail with a crafted stone toilet near it if you do not want to come up to the facilities. Bathroom: up at the house, our private practice has a sliding glass door on the deck you can go through to use flush toilet and shower. This area is separate from the rest of the house. There is also a stone toilet with a deep hole we crafted out in the woods we will show you. Bag and take out for leave no trace, or cover with dirt/debris, whichever you feel best about! - Bring your own tent and supplies - Plenty of places to order food out from if you want delivery - Please COMPLETELY clean up after yourself - Please bring firewood, or use ours for $1 per piece and settle up with us after with cash or venmo.

The Awakening Garden
