It all started when grandfather Charles B Wright first establish this farm in 1904. He purchased it for its natural springs. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. You are also welcome to come down to the farm market and purchase bags to pick your own apples in season.

We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. Please bring lots of clothes and layers. Stay warm! Smoking: We are primarily a non-smoking/vaping farm and appreciate you smoking/vaping in your vehicle not on our premises please. Cherry Plain Sanctuary Farm is adjacent to miles of public forest. Peace and solace can be found in these quiet mountains. In addition to amazing hiking, backpacking mountain biking, road biking right from your Hipcamp site, with kayaking nearby. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. Come share our paradise, bring your outdoor adventurer gear (you will be glad you did) and we will share our favorite local destinations with you. We ask that all hipcampers who are primary guests be 21 years of age or over. Children are welcome but we will not knowingly rent to anyone under 21 years of age. There is a $50 additional charge for garbage left at our farm including cigarette butts (we are a no smoking farm!), broken glass, bottles, cans, plastics, containers, bags and other trash. Great access to the Roaring Kill Trailhead and to the Devil's Path Hiking Trail. If you're looking for some water activities take a short drive to Colgate Lake. Site guidelines Do be careful driving on the dirt jeep track out to the camp. Don't miss swimming in the Roaring Kill Falls. Do leave the campsite just as you found it. "Don't feed the bears." This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. In our barn (now home to Gardiner Brewing Company) he had gravity fed water troughs for his cattle. Since then we have slowly switched from animals to tree fruit. You will enjoy rolling hills of fruit trees and fruit gardens along with beautiful views of the Shawangunk Mountain Ridge. We have 450+ acres so it in very private. As we are a working farm, you can see us driving pass with our tractors or maintaining the orchard around your campsite on occasion. You are welcome to ride your bikes, hike or jog where you will pass ponds and a working farm landscape. Please don’t pick our fruit. If you would like to enjoy the fruits of our labor please visit our farm store open year round on the premises where we sell cheeses, our fresh picked fruit and veggies, local meats, and our famous cider donuts along with other farm products. We also have a farm brewery open 3-7 in our old dairy barn for you to enjoy. Live music Saturdays and Sundays. Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Reserve are only 10 minutes away. The rail trail is three minutes away. This trail gives you walking and biking access into New Paltz, where there is tons of restaurants and lots of shopping. Please be aware that during the months of September and October there may be a Pick-Your-Own customer or two walking around picking apples around the campsite area between the hours of 10:00-6:00. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. Fire safety is necessary to keep everything safe here for all of us. Thank you for understanding. Here in the mountains we can experience very cold nights. We supply a small pile of firewood for a small fire at no charge. If you like, you can gather more dead wood (not live trees) in our forests. Winter is coming soon. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. This 17-acre site has diverse habitats, from an upland pine and hardwood forest to wild native meadows full of blueberries, asters and milkweed. The most special feature is a large tributary and creek waterway system with areas of wetland. Once choked with invasive plants, it is now a largely restored native plant and wildlife habitat that supports migrating herons, trout, amphibians and clouds of Monarch and other butterflies. In the fall I've seen Monarchs circle up in vortexes from the meadows and take off on their migration. There are several large swimming holes where the creek turns or joins with its tributary. Bridges have been installed over the tributary and over brooklets feeding into it. A lot of care and love is going into this land. Over 500 native trees planted along the creek banks are growing into a forest - you'll see many still in protective tubes and cages. Thousands of native pollinator ground-plants have been planted or sprung up on their own, some like tiny flowering gems on the shady forest floors. The old stone walls running through the property and around its boundaries speak to its history as a farm and an apple orchard. Swimming, hiking, fishing and bird-and-wildlife watching will fascinate you in this dynamic landscape that is constantly coming closer to what used to exist hundreds of years ago and is now reestablishing itself. In the vicinity, there's Tetta's, a deli/cafe/gas station and small emporium with made-to-order pizza, local raw honey, mushroom, crafts, and all kinds of food, pretty much everything you need; it's been in the family for generations. Find it Northeast on Samsonville Road (County Rt. 3) at the junctions of Rts. 2 & 3. There's a hike to a waterfall if you drive a few miles down Upper Cherrytown Road from the end of Sundown Road: you'll see a parking lot with signs for the falls; the DEC-maintained trail is across the road (https://www.catskillmountaineer.com/SD-vernooy-falls-east.html). We host NYS Police along with local police/sheriff deputies here through our organization Hearts in Hand Horsemanship LLC. Don't be surprised if you see a NYS trooper or police unit parked up in the field near the horses. Fires: We allow small fires in specific spots, namely the fire ring at Camping on Blueberry Hill, at Ft Sky and inside the Tipi. Campsite fires are allowed weather permitting, when it's not windy and must be kept small. If it's windy then you can still have a fire in the tipi. No large fires or bonfires. All fires must be completely out unless you are physically with your fire. We supply 5 gallons of water and more is available to drink, wash dishes and put your fire out. Please respect our rules. We are 10 minutes away from Cherry Plain State Park (which has a gorgeous lake and kid-friendly sandy beach), and even closer to the Taconic Crest Trail. Our location is nestled between the Taconics of New York, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Berkshires of Massachusetts. I enjoyed my peaceful camping spot on Jessica's lovely land. There was plenty of firewood, if needed. I did not get to meet my host in person, but Jessica checked in by text to make sure I was doing ok. Her land is well maintained and the location is close to a State Park and to stores and shopping. The land is on a slight incline and it can get windy. Highly recommend and will make plans to return when it's a bit warmer!

The brewery was great (we were there on a Saturday) the portapotty is a bit of a walk from this particular site, but it wasn’t too bad! The farmers market was walkable, but also a short drive. Be sure to check out the farmers market while you are there! Would definitely stay again.

The only downside was another campsite was a bit close for my taste, and a bit loud, but even so I loved our stay and would visit again.

Weekend Trip to Luxury Camping at 'Higher Ground'
Evan & Laura have an amazing set up. They had great communication during our stay and in the week leading up. They checked in to see if we needed anything prior, including the propane heater, which in 30-something degree weather was an essential and extremely helpful. The site truly had anything you could ever need. We were extremely impressed and surprised by the outhouse with toilet, shower, and usb-c chargers(!) inside. Reading reviews beforehand were helpful and led us to pack lighter, given the steep climb up. But the climb was definitely worth it. We also loved how Evan showed us how the goats and chickens were fed. My pup definitely loved running up and down the hill to the site and marveled (sometimes a little too much lol) at the goats and chickens she was seeing for the first time! Evan was both kind and accommodating. Would definitely stay again!

Absolutely stunning skies and blustery mornings. Must-visit farm store woth products grown, picked, and packed in-house. Friendly staff and semi-private sites with ample space between the neighboring fire pits. Nearby some stunning hiking (Minnewaska and Mohank) and great eats (Bacchus in New Paltz especially recommended for vegetarians, beer lovers, and billiards). Just a wonderful getaway.

Wright’s farm is a beautiful location for tent or RV camping. There are several different sites to choose from. I was there at the end of October and all were quiet with beautiful views of the apple orchards and surrounding areas. There is a farm store on site that has all sorts of goodies. And a brewery open on the weekends. Will definitely be back to explore more of this beautiful area.

Great location! Just a 10 minute drive from Mohonk Mountain trails which we hiked before setting up camp. We arrived around dinner time and were able to snag a bite and drink at the brewery and listen to awesome live music! The staff were very lovely in both the brewery and attached market. Stayed at the Stonehenge site which was easy to find and equipped with a fire ring and picnic table. Porta potty with sanitizing station was located a short walk away which was convenient even in the dark. There was another group camping in our area but they’re so well spaced that it felt private. If you’re a stargazer, this site is stunningly unobstructed. Would stay again!

Really nice large, private and flat campsite! Beautiful view of the fall foliage in the Gunks. We loved our stay and enjoyed the short walk down to the brewery and farm stand for food, drinks, and music. Quick drive to all the climbing and hiking and biking in the area. Cant wait to come back!

We are half an hour from Hudson, and in the midst of plentiful Berkshire and Hudson Valley hiking, biking and sightseeing opportunities. Early check-in and late check-out are often fine; just ask. *Special note for winter campers: depending on both snowfall and what you are driving, the parking locations may change. If we can, we will be happy to either ferry you via our 4WD, or help you carry your stuff in. The winter is really fun and beautiful. It's really nice here and we're happy to share it. Named during the pandemic, "Camp COVID Site 19" was born out of our desire to camp, as we weren't able to go camping anywhere! This camp is the back half of our property, located in the village of Tannersville. Camp is divided from our personal yard by a fence. The camp is also completely fenced in once the driveway gates are closed, allowing your pets to safely be off leash if you wish! A long stone driveway leads to camp, with a flat spot to park your skoolie, motorhome, or vehicle. There is a creek running along the entire back side of our property, outside of the fenced in area, which you can access by walking a few feet though the gates under the Camp COVID sign. We have a new bon fire pit in the center of camp, and fires are allowed as long as there is no burn ban in effect. Firewood is on site, and can be added on for $10 per night. We have 2 water hook ups and one 15 amp electric hook up on site, we just ask that you do not run an A/C unit as it will trip our main breaker. There is a dump station at North South Lake State Park and Campground only minutes away in Haines Falls. Instructions and rules are posted in the bath house which has an on demand hot water shower and a composting toilet. There is a garbage can for your convienece which is located in the shed which must be kept closed to avoid black bears visiting! There is a covered dried in area to the left of the shed. We have a half barrel charcoal grill with a flat top griddle as well as several grill grates. One of the grill grates also fits over the fire pit if you prefer fire cooking! There is an RV on site that will not be occupied during your stay, please do not enter, thank you! Come and stay and say hi!

A true wilderness experience. Base camp is an old Catskill farmhouse built late 19th century but first deeded 1820. Sits at the base of Evergreen Mountain bordered on three sides by tumbling water: West Kill Creek, Herdman Brook, and Haring Brook. Operated as a hunting and fishing lodge for decades - rainbow, brown, heron, kingfishers, eagles, larks , deer, bear, mink, beaver, bobcat - all there, right out the door, literally. You don't know what's going to come through your camp. The actual camp site itself is the ultimate in social distancing. As close to pure wilderness as it gets. No vehicles allowed at site. From an easily accessible parking space, it's a mildly uphill ten minute hike through magical meadows deep into a hidden mountain valley in the midst of 250,000 acres. Utter privacy. The only sounds being the wind, the birds, yourself, and Herdman Brook rushing along a few yards east of your site. Once again no vehicles are allowed at the campsite itself. At one time, yes, but we needed to disallow it because the property was being torn up, and the beauty of the site is that it's so pristine. This is not glamping. No cabin. No platform. Need tent, tarp, or hammock, and you will sleep under more stars than you can possibly imagine. Fire ring, cooking grate, water bucket This is true wilderness camping. You're off the grid at site - no cell service - but wifi available if necessary on front porch of main house aka base camp. 10 a.m. check in. 3 p.m. checkout. Please send ETA when possible. Campers ought to be aware that black bears live in these mountains., although you're not likely to see one unless it's running away from you. If you're really nervous bring bear spray, but you're not likely to need it. I literally chased one off our porch not a month ago. I would appreciate your purchasing human waste bags from me at base camp when you arrive. I'll have them here for $3.00/bag. Feel free to buy your own. You should also bring FIRE STARTER to make your life easier. We sell firewood as well - 7 logs/$10. As with the waste bags, we would appreciate buying the firewood directly from us. Wonderful hikes - one to a waterfall - trail head at end of Spruceton Rd. Hunter Brook, Devil's Notch, Fire Tower atop Hunter Mountain, Ridge of West Kill Mountain West Kill Brewery and Spruceton Inn Bed and Bar each half mile up the road. Civilized respites. 4 campers preferred. 6 possible. One more thing: DOGS. We have two: a 13 year old female whatever and a shepherd-husky mix, 4 years old, also female. They are quite friendly and docile, although the shepherd looks intimidating, and both roam the property at will 2-3 times/day. We would prefer you not bring your dog, however, if you must, please be certain it is well behaved 4.5 miles up County Rte 6 to 1833 Spruceton Rd., NY 12492 Old white farmhouse. On left. We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve. It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers. The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present. In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards. Learn more about this land: Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range.   Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream.    The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway.    There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils.  There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well. Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful.  The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night.  As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright.  Nearby Attractions: The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available.  In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night. Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails. Other nearby outdoor attractions include:  Williamstown MA, The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock.
