We have been the caretakers of this land and cabin since 2015, when we bought it from the builder of the modest cabin on-site, Steve. It is our family camp, but we love to share it with friends and fellow nature-loving campers. The land is partially wooded, and partially 'old field' that is slowly re-foresting through natural succession with some intentional interruption in order to introduce edible native trees and shrubs that are not naturally present. In this way the land is a slowly developing food forest and also a nursery for its plant-loving stewards. Learn more about this land: Escape the city and find yourself in this off-grid hillside cabin with a deck overlooking the Taconic mountain range.   Wander through field and forest, and cool off in the nearby stream.    The cabin has two rooms, and there is a kids playground and tire swing making this an appropriate family camping getaway.    There is a solar panel providing indoor lights and phone charging capabilities, a fire pit with a grill, and a simple array of pots, dishes, and utensils.  There is a spring-fed 55 gallon reservoir of potable water that will slowly refill as well. Though not far off the road, there is very little car traffic, and the surroundings are very peaceful.  The din of the running stream is a constant, while the sounds of coyotes and owls can be heard at night.  As the name indicates, the east-facing hillside is often witness to incredible moonrises, and the stars are always bright.  Nearby Attractions: The Beer Diviner small-scale brewery and taproom is a stone's throw away from the parking area with a selection of tasty beer and some food options available.  In addition to regular hours, there are special summer events, and live music every Saturday night. Cherry Plain State Park is a 'less-traveled' state park and campground just 3.5 miles up the road, offering lake swimming, boating, hiking and mountain bike trails. Other nearby outdoor attractions include:  Williamstown MA, The Taconic Crest Trail, Jiminy Peak Resort, Hancock Shaker Village, and Mt. Greylock. 1 night at On-Farm Container Building/Glamping

The container cabin was incredibly cool! Michael was happy to answer questions about the space, construction, and area. He provided all the amenities, and was kind enough to give a tour of the microgreen grow space and some greens to take home. Very cozy, beautiful woods, and a kind host. We had a great time!

Weekend Trip to Palsgraf estates

Perfect for a weekend escape from the city. The cabin was spacious and spotless, and the restroom was well-maintained. No service, water, or electricity, but firewood was ready for us, and the nights under the stars were amazing. The host was friendly and easy to communicate with, and check-in/check-out were very flexible and smooth. It felt a little pricey for a basic setup, but we still really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking to disconnect and recharge in nature.

Weekend Trip to Maple Corner Farm

This site was perfect for us! We came with our dogs and they loved running around on the trails and in the fields - the site had a picnic table and cooking area, and we grabbed firewood, eggs, maple syrup and a few other goodies from the farm stand on the way in. David and his family were amazing hosts, checking in periodically to see if we needed anything to make our stay even more comfortable. We took advantage of the permanent tent at the site and our own tents, both were super fun - we will most definitely be back again, thank you David and family!

Weekend Trip to Hucklebuck Railway Campsites

Paula and her husband are kind, thoughtful, and helpful hosts! They were very quick to respond to our messages and were incredibly accommodating. I’d forgotten to pack cooking oil and Paula was generous enough to offer some of hers. This place has everything you need! If you enjoy birding this place has a variety of birds. Also, it was so cool to hear a great horned owl in the middle of the night. We all had so much fun at their campsite - the perfect fall getaway. We’d love to visit again in the summer so we can enjoy the swimming holes and take advantage of the hiking trails!

The cabin was very cute and comfortable! There are a surprising amount of amenities packed in- headlamps, coffee making items, a fridge, and more. The heaters kept it very cosy.

Weekend Trip to Hucklebuck Railway Campsites

We had a wonderful time at Paula and Bill’s campsite. It’s rustic yet well stocked and maintained, with tons of walking paths and a beautiful creek where we spent the afternoon skipping rocks. Bill brought us fresh water and firewood (along with some lovely conversation), and even when a nor’easter rolled through on our final night, we stayed warm and dry in our tent. Paula was so easy to get in touch with and they were flexible with our arrival time coming from NYC. The land they are on is truly stunning and they really care for it with such love. Our six-year-old had the best time and now wishes we could camp there every weekend! We also spent part of one of our days at Kesicke Farm, where he played in the corn maze, fed the animals, and just had an absolute blast. Mighty Donuts was also amazing and a great spot for kids, and Red Hook diner on our way out was just exactly what we needed. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we would love to come back again!

The site was beyond amazing! So gorgeous, well equipped, and the adventure trail to get there was so fun! We’re already planning a trip back to explore the hiking trail off the site and all the other great ones nearby. Don’t plan on having phone service while there, but who cares when you’re at such a beautiful piece of land.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Williams property is amazing. I camped with my 14 and 4 year old and we had the best time, both kids said they wished they stayed another night. I agree. The bed was comfy, the unlimited fire wood a life saver. Clean porta-potty. The creek nearby was gorgeous, the kids made Cairns and we drew on rocks with other rocks. Just make sure to bring your water, soap, ample food and lanterns. Im already dreaming of the next stay there. The host! William was extremely kind, checked in with me on my way up, and I felt like I was coming to visit family. I recommend this spot 10/10 and i think it was worth every penny.
