The open-air, covered Kitchens have sinks, fresh, potable hot water, kitchenware, gas stove —pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc, BBQ with side burner, critter-resistant food safe, bear-proof trash can, and picnic table outside. We provide a convenient propane campfire for safety since our climate is dry and often windy. No candles or open flames please. Limited WIFI available.
There are easy trails on property along the lush stream (the original riverbed of the Middle Saint Vrain Stream), fishing or swimming in the pond (no lifeguard on duty), or challenging trails into Roosevelt National Forest from the property. (Ask Hiker Dot for guidance.) Several National Forest access points, where you can enjoy peaceful walks away from crowds, are a short drive.
New this year Bliss Camp is adding a 12' x 14' Glamping Tent Cabin.
Bliss Canyon is a spur off of breathtaking, picturesque South Saint Vrain Canyon. Stroll on over to the South or Middle for renowned fly fishing. For climbers, there are over 50 climbs in South Saint Vrain Canyon!
Dark Skies:
If you like to watch the stars and meteor showers, Bliss Canyon is blessed with dark skies with little light from the plains. Bring your telescopes and explore the Universe.
Rocky Mountain National Park, one of the five Crown Jewels of the National Park Service, is nearby. The closest trailhead in RMNP is 10 miles, the next trailhead at Wild Basin entrance to the park is 13 miles, and the Beaver Meadows entrance (main entrance) is 36 miles. Rocky Mountain National Park has breathtaking drives, easy strolls with interpretive signs, and 360 miles of trails. (Advance reservation required for entry 9:00 am to 3:00 pm for main park, or 5:00 am to 6:00 pm for Bear Lake corridor.)
Indian Peaks Wilderness also has several nearby access points and trailheads. Ask Dot for details.
The charming town of Lyons is 20 minutes away with coffee shops, restaurants, bars, lots of great live music, and quaint shops. Also, Spirit Hound Distillery received the award for the #1, Best Whiskey in the World in 2022, hmmm, it might be worth a tasting!

My husband and I built the barn and all structures! The house was the last thing to get finished, we moved in March of 2020. We raise Cattle and Bernedoodle dogs. And also enjoy training horses and competing with the Mustang Heritage Foundation. If you walk around you will see many American Mustangs! We hope you enjoy the fantastic views and the peaceful surroundings as we do!!

Such a beautiful, quiet property. An even more beautiful sheepwagon! Such a cool idea.
Shannon has made it so extremely comforting inside, and I was so warm with the heater and all of the cozy bedding. Such sweet animals - including a cat to keep me company each time I used the bathroom in the barn haha.
Thank you so much for opening up your space, coming from Pennsylvania, this was a great visual opportunity for me to gain inspiration in the life I feel called to.

The property was extremely beautiful and Shannon was very kind, friendly and accommodating. The wagon was charming and the decor was very inviting. There was even a friendly farm cat that came and said hello to us! The trip felt magical overall. Wonderful hosts, wonderful scenery, and very welcoming.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Shimza. The cart itself is beautiful woodwork, and made for a comfortable nest. The kitchen, similarly handcrafted, had everything we needed and nothing we didn't! And how amazing to have a hot shower available when camping. Everything seemed fresh and clean. Very pretty property and we greatly enjoyed floating on the creek as well. Will definitely return.

Great place, great people. Accommodations were as advertised. Would go back. Road noise exists, it didn’t really trouble me personally and this place is on the way to RMNP (15 minutes to Wild Basin entrance) so it gets some traffic. But that means YOU have easy access to the park. Dot and Byron are friendly and helpful and have made this camp comfortable AND sustainable. Saint Vrain canyon in the Roosevelt National Forests is itself beautiful and this camp is situated right in it. Enjoy being outside!

Great place. Dot welcomed us and showed us around, even though I was 4 hours for check in.
Dot was a great host, gave us local insights.
The gypsy trailers are unique, my two daughters (7 & 9) and I slept in the Gypsy wagon, it was great, they love it.
Each day we took a dip in the creek. It’s not a big swimming hole, up to your waist, but as far as Colorado goes it’s pretty darn good, a bit silty, but it’s your own swimming hole! That’s fantastic.
Would totally recommend, it’s a short drive from Denver, but you feel like you’re out there camping. And it literally has everything you need, so it’s an easy weekend get away .

We came all the way from Chicago and it was well worth the drive! The amenities were amazing, especially considering we were all the way in the middle of a canyon! We still had AC plugs, hot water for the shower, a working kitchen sink and two burner stove. Beautiful views, the sounds of the creek, and the birds were so calming. The campers were so comfy, we slept better than we did in the hotels on the way there. Swimming in the swimming holes during the day was so fun and kept us nice and cool. We would 1000% stay here again.

What a beautiful area of the country. It was a lot of fun to spend a little time here with my dog who loves cows, and got to hang out with the chickens and horses at the ranch. Shannon was super friendly and accommodating. We had a lovely time and wow, the sunset was amazing!

This was absolutely my FAVORITE place I’ve ever camped, and I’ve camped in a lot of places!!!
All aspects of the land, the facilities and the wagons were so meticulously thought out and maintained. You could feel the labor and love Dot and Byron put into building this sanctuary.
The only thing that was wrong was that I had to leave!! I’ve told everybody who asked about my trip that visiting Bliss Camp is a MUST! I can’t wait to return!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We (me, my partner and our three young kids) came out for a rainy Memorial Day weekend and couldn't have been cozier and happier in the covered wagon and teardrop trailer at night. The property is stunning and Dot is a fantastic host who has thought of everything. We had a lovely hike on the property, played in the creek, and enjoyed the hammocks, swing chairs and propane fire pit when it wasn't too wet out. There's lots to do nearby in Lyons (library, pinball arcade), Longmont and Boulder if the weather gets bad. I wouldn't hesitate to book another covered wagon or a canvas tent again.

We had a wonderful time at Dot and Byron's campsite. The beauty of the location and amenities made for a restful and fun weekend with friends. The accommodations were very cozy and we had a wonderful time sitting around the fire, cooking, and enjoying the quiet bliss of the Bliss Camp. Dot and Byron were great hosts, they were attentive and have made a little piece of heaven that they so kindly share. I can't recommend this spot enough for a relaxing getaway. Where to go
Estes Park Village
Only 90 minutes from downtown Denver, Estes Park makes a great basecamp for exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. You’ll find several RV parks with full hookups just outside the city limits and some have tiny cabins and yurts available for rent too. Mary's Lake is a popular family-friendly spot. In town, you can take a stroll along the riverwalk where you’ll find dozens of coffee shops, restaurants, and galleries and visit Estes Lake, where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and pontoon boats to get out on the lake. Wildlife is so plentiful here it’s not uncommon to see a herd of elk walking through downtown.
Rocky Mountain National Park
Known for its high mountain scenery and endless trails, Rocky Mountain National Park is a main reason to head to Estes Park. The Beaver Meadows Entrance Station and Visitor Center is less than a 10-minute drive from Estes Park, with free shuttle buses running from Estes Park to park trailheads in summer. Campers will find five campgrounds with RV, tent, and group sites—four are set near Estes Park and the other is near the Grand Lake entrance on Trail Ridge Road. You can also find plenty of backcountry sites. Reservations are highly recommended for Rocky Mountain National Park campgrounds but some first-come, first-served sites are available.
Roosevelt National Forest
For those looking for some scenery away from the crowds in Rocky Mountain National Park, Roosevelt National Forest rivals the national park and provides even more opportunities for outdoor recreation. The forest borders Rocky Mountain along the north and east sides, and is just an hour or so drive from Estes Park. The Long Draw and Tom Bennett campgrounds offer fantastic views and are incredibly popular spots for Colorado locals.
When to go
The best time to camp and hike in Estes Park is from late May through mid September as long as you’re prepared for chilly nights. Estes Park sits at 7,522 feet above sea level and many of the campgrounds in Rocky Mountain National Park and Roosevelt National Forest are even higher, meaning that you can expect cool evening temperatures even in summer. The area is busiest in summer and when fall colors are at their peak, typically in late September through early October. A few Estes Park campgrounds stay open in winter for those looking to ski and snowshoe.
Know before you go
- Camping in Estes Park is extremely popular. Book campground reservations well in advance.
- No hookups are available at any area national park campgrounds, although dump stations can be found at Glacier Bay and Moraine Park.
- Estes Park is bear country. Store food in campground bear lockers.
- Free shuttle buses run from Estes Park into Rocky Mountain National Park during the summer months. This is a great way to enjoy the park sights without the hassle of finding parking and dealing with traffic.
- For an introduction to the mountains surrounding Estes Park, head to the top of Prospect Mountain on the Estes Park Tram. You’ll enjoy views of Longs Peak, the Continental Divide, and the entire Estes Park Valley.
