Camp Wayward

Wayward Farm is a 33 acre cooperative farm community in its fledgling phases. We are working toward raising our own food and creating space for connections and learning. We started with milk cows and chickens and added a couple of pasture pigs. There are two gentle horses who live here.  There are meandering trails throughout the back side of the property and a creek that flows from the small pond. There is plenty of wildlife on the back side of the property which includes deer, turkey, woodpeckers, mourning doves, coyote, fox, blue heron, and much, much more. We are a 15 minute drive from the Nevada County fairgrounds.

Located just 5 minutes from the Sutter Basin, home to the Sutter Buttes – the smallest mountain range in the nation – Lovey's Landing is known for its exquisite sunsets and great fishing. 

LOVEY'S HAS HEART

The people are what makes a difference. Sure, you can't beat the river for beauty & sport, and you can't resist the outdoor patio by the river — all perfect for parties and events. But really, it's the people that continue to make Lovey's a tradition — the people that work here and the people that visit. There's a home-feel about the place! Come on by for a visit.

WILDLIFE PARADISE 

Wildlife and waterfowl are abundant here. In fact, the area is a migratory capital for ducks, geese & egrets. Farmlands are everywhere as well as orchards, ponds, marsh, creeks & sometimes winter puddles. Tall oaks, black walnuts, cottonwoods, and willows offer their timeless beauty and shade. Summer climate brings blue skies & warm daily temperatures of 85-105 degrees with cooler evenings. Color paints a pretty spring with orchard blossoms & wildflowers, and fall arrives with autumn brilliance. Winter skies fill with snow geese creating a most spectacular view. Bring your camera!

FANTASTIC FISHING

Can you say BIG FISH? Striped bass, sturgeon, shad, king salmon, and catfish. We've got a great set-up for fishermen. Check out the photos of some of our favorite people and their fish.

TRADITION

Since 1957, Lovey's has been a welcome place for people from all over to hang by the river & Camp; enjoy a casual, natural environment. You can get excited by catching a big fish or just watching one jump out of the water. Or, forget the fish and just sit back, enjoy the scenic views, and chat with neighbors. Lovey's is your familiar place. You can count on it – for good times and good people!

Lovey's restaurant and bar. Christiana, the manager, is lovely and filled up our water bottles for us even after the restaurant was closed. We didn't eat or drink here, but saw several folks at the bar and it was lively on Saturday night.

Two bathrooms a short walk from the camp site, both with showers. A few bugs inside, but decently clean compared to most campground bathrooms.

Once an asparagus farm for Heinz, the property was left neglected for over 25 years.

 They started to convert the land to a lavender farm when they realized that there was more that they should do to enjoy their journey, hence; they incorporated the camping to share this beautiful location with others. From majestic sunrises to magnificent sunsets, The Meadows offers not only a calm and relaxing atmosphere gained from the Lavenders growing, but also provides a central location to all of the California River Delta venues and experiences. From local wine tasting to boating, fishing or just enjoying the nearby collectic towns, 

 Bring your tent, trailer, or motor home to enjoy the heart of the California river delta. Each campsite is extra large for privacy and room to spread out. Dog-friendly.

 Watch the sunset while enjoying the picturesque views of the surrounding vineyards.

 Walk the streets of our historic downtown and

visit the small shops and locally-owned restaurants-- Manny’s Barzzeria, Mc Broodery's, Pineapples, or Peters Steak House. Of course, don’t miss out on DeJacks our country store that stocks it all!! Spend the day at the public fishing docks, kayak for the day in the delta waters, or head over to Sherman Islands epic wind/kite surfing areas.

Local year-round festivals abound in the Delta and The Meadows is strategically located central to all. Our small town of 800 people will truly give you the feeling of being out of the big city!

Kimball Farm

Welcome to Kimball Farm!
We have cultivated our  family farm to be a sanctuary - a place for people to feel the love of the earth, and what it has to offer us. Spectacular skies surround the farm, with roaming chickens, crowing roosters and vegetables, medicinal herbs, and fruits growing - a living model of what is beautiful AND possible in life.

The cozy TeePee has a vibe of its own, and sits beside a sweet, peaceful pond, outdoor sitting area, and fire pit. There is plenty of room for additional tents and RV's. The convenience of accessible electricity, running toilets, hot water shower, gas grill and an additional covered sitting area make your camping adventure that much more comfortable.

Super convenient to get here! We're less than 20 miles from the Sacramento Airport, and just a few minutes off of Interstate 5. Yet you'd never know it once you get to the farm and feel the peace and quiet.

Additional note....Life on the farm is calm, peaceful and easy... operating with the natural rhythm of the
sun cycle. What few clocks we do have, are stuck on twenty minutes past four.

We are also family and kid friendly.

Please know that although the teepee provides some shelter from the elements it is not a house. This is still camping and you will be subject to the elements of Mother Nature. Hot, cold, rain, wind, dirt, dust, mud and different animal sounds during the night. When you are here you may see frogs, toads, lizards, snakes (none poisonous) ants, turtles, squirrels, etc..

Those of you who have experienced camping before know that these are all normal things when out in nature but for those of you who have no camping experience I ask you to come with an open mind and a positive attitude towards a new experience. If you think you may have problems with any of these things PLEASE DON'T COME!!!

We 
also have a dog named Sara that loves people. Most campers that come are very happy to have her around. She is polite and good with children. Some of you may not like dogs, if that is the case this will not be a fun experience for you.

Please note that as of spring 2021 we no longer have as many animals. Because of the drought feed prices are too high.

Folsom Lake

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT CAMPGROUNDS AT 2 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS ON FOLSOM LAKE: 

ONE LOCATION IS BEALS POINT CAMPGROUND IN GRANITE BAY. (HAS BOTH BASIC AND LUXURY GLAMPING)

THE 2ND LOCATION IS PENINSULA CAMPGROUND IN PILOT HILL (ONLY HAS BASIC GLAMPING)

Located at the base of the Sierra foothills, the lake and recreation area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, running, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, water-skiing and boating. Fishing offers trout, catfish, big and small mouth bass or perch. Visitors can also see the Folsom Powerhouse (once called "the greatest operative electrical plant on the American continent"), which from 1885 to 1952 produced 11,000 volts of electricity for Sacramento residents.

For cyclists, there is a 32-mile long bicycle path at Beals Point that connects  Folsom Lake with many Sacramento County parks before reaching Old Sacramento. The park also includes Lake Natoma, downstream from Folsom Lake, which is popular for crew races, sailing, kayaking and other aquatic sports.

At both locations, you will stay in 16ft deluxe tents.  Each tent has 2 full beds in them.  

At Beals Point we offer "Luxury" Glamping with real furniture, cozy bedding, and all the amenities you need for a relaxing and fun filled stay for up to 8 people (AT BEALS POINT ONLY!).  

At both Beals Point and Peninsula, we also offer "Basic" Glamping, where we bring the tent and mattresses, and you bring the rest.  This means that you need to bring your own sheets, pillows, sleeping bags, blankets and other camping essentials.  Close by the sites are public restrooms with running water, drinking water, and showers. Hiking trails are found all around at both locations.  At Beals Point you can rent kayaks, visit the snack bar, or take a dip in the lake- whatever suits your needs can be found close by!

There was plenty of space for everyone to find their own private nook.

I was pleasantly surprised that the showers were nice and hot with great water pressure.

Down the road from our site was the community campfire pit.

Even the littles had a great time playing.

7 Acre Farm With Many Amenities

Expect to see the exciting valley of the Placer, Yuba, and Mt Shasta Snow Caps.

We have a Plum Farm with fresh garden veggies; including all to create a salad. We offer fruit from our Cherries, Asian Pears, Santa Rosa Plums, Peaches, Apricots, and much more. We also offer offer fresh eggs.

We also have many amenities for kids, such as; a playhouse , swings, trampoline, mountain bike trails, full bathroom with Hot shower, picnic tables, Fire Pit, and BBQ. 

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, there is no better place to be than Placer County with its natural lakes, rivers and streams for whitewater rafting and fishing, while also being home to more than one million acres of national forest land filled with trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking.
