Additional note....Life on the farm is calm, peaceful and easy... operating with the natural rhythm of the
sun cycle. What few clocks we do have, are stuck on twenty minutes past four.

Please know that This is still camping and you will be subject to the elements of Mother Nature. Hot, cold, rain, wind, dirt, dust, mud and different animal sounds during the night. When you are here you may see frogs, toads, lizards, snakes (none poisonous) ants, turtles, squirrels, etc..
Those of you who have experienced camping before know that these are all normal things when out in nature but for those of you who have no camping experience I ask you to come with an open mind and a positive attitude towards a new experience. If you think you may have problems with any of these things PLEASE DON'T COME!!!
We
also have a dog named Sara that loves people. Most campers that come are very happy to have her around. She is polite and good with children. Some of you may not like dogs, if that is the case this will not be a fun experience for you.

The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).
Come and enjoy the views of the river, forest, and wildlife!
This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.
For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s).
If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.

Treat yourself to a quiet getaway for one at this cozy, clean and comfortable cabin on our rural farm, between two rivers, on Sherman Island. Located in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area at the confluence of the San Joaquin River, Sacramento River, and the eastern terminus of San Francisco Bay, Sherman Island is known for its wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets, and its dark sky for stargazing opportunities.

Welcome to our land in the beautiful wilderness of upper Calistoga. Our land is a nature experience, with some development of trails and amenities, at our family land just 10 minutes outside of Calistoga with all the wineries, spas, and restaurants. The hilltop (where Coral Cabin is located) has electricity and wifi, and is a common area for all campers. The main house and deck are not part of the hipcamp; the tenants are a nice family and caretakers of the land, but not the hosts so please do not disturb.
Our sites are no frills, cute and rustic, and “user responsible” meaning the price includes basic “leave no trace”cleaning guidelines. Because of this, communication with Dan is super important to ensure expectations are clear for you and us, our land is respected, and you have a great time!
Rules for all sites, read before you book!
1. We provide trash bags and ask that you take all trash and recycling to the bottom of the driveway, in the 'hipcamp' trash bin provided (smaller grey bin by mailbox).
2. We have a compost toilet system designed by a graduate of the Occidental Ecology Center permaculture course. It has pros and cons, but when operated correctly, it is a good system: All you gotta do is add mulch (which is any dried leaves or grass), on top of your own biz and it begins to break down waste immediately, including smell. If in doubt, add more mulch; you can find it in a bin by the toilet or gather a handful at time of service. Or: There are also nice coffee shops in town:)
3. The nature of our land being wild, there are no wood fires allowed. We have propane fire pits, and ask guests to use extreme caution with bug candles or smoking anything.
We currently have 3 campsites. Please see descriptions for each campsite access and services available. *The Hilltop/Coral Cabin has the best large RV access, Wi-Fi and electricity, and the best views. Each campsite has a gas camping stove and compost toilet.
You will see lots of wildlife! Beautiful birds song every morning, little lizards everywhere, turkeys, a toad here and there! You can hike the extent of our 34 acres on fire roads that lead to the top of the Whaleback Ridge, seen in the distance from all camps. That would be an epic sunset hike!

Both cabins have a small plug in heater, and a window AC for the hot hours. Wifi reception is limited.
The cabins have a indoor/outdoor bathroom with a sink and toilet and a small kitchenette featuring coffee and tea setup, hotplate and mini fridge. You also have access to the outdoor picnic area under the fig tree which has a BBQ, picnic table and sink for rinsing dishes.
There is no indoor shower, but we do have a rustic outdoor shower with hot and cold water.
Tent space
We have a small orchard in front of the Nopal Studio. There is room for two tent sites. No camp fires are allowed in the orchard. If it is winter time, we do have a fire ring in the fig tree picnic area, as well as a propane BBQ.
The bathroom is shared with the cabins.
We have farm animals and dogs which can be loud. The dogs chase squirrels and bark maniacally, and the ducks quack at sunrise, like, lots! There are also spiders, wasps, bees, rattlesnakes etc!! Please be aware, this is snake country!

Snuggle Inn is a hidden gem that completely exceeded my expectations. The waterfront cottage is much better than the pictures show—it's spacious, boasts a great split unit, and has a fully equipped kitchen. I loved grilling on the waterfront fire pit and sleeping in the comfortable queen-sized bed with my two dogs.
Despite it being a busy July 4th weekend with lots of kids and boaters, the cabin remained surprisingly peaceful. The best part was walking my two boys down to the beach to run and swim. My terrier mix was in heaven!
With hot showers and flush toilets available, it’s a perfectly relaxing setup - spacious and comfortable. I’m already planning my next trip back!

We loved our weekend at the Coral Cabin on Dan’s land. Almost like camping but with a comfy bed, coffee maker and fridge, and not far from town, it was a beautiful (the view!) quiet place to get away to with our dogs. Dan’s directions were clear and he is a friendly, responsive host. Strongly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Sunset Oaks Ranch Casita
We absolutely loved our stay at Torry’s casita and were already planning our next visit before we left! From the moment we booked through Hipcamp, Torry was incredibly responsive, kind, and happy to answer all of my questions. Her directions made arrival easy, and everything was clearly marked.
This was my husband and my first camping trip together, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The cabin was spotless, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we needed—it truly felt like a home away from home. The thoughtful touches, comfortable beds, great A/C with individual room controls, and extra blanketsmade our stay so cozy.
The private pool was sparkling clean, and every seating area was perfectly placed to enjoy the peaceful mountain views. We also loved the grill, the outdoor fire pit, the pet-friendly atmosphere, and outdoor games like horseshoes, corn hole, and Connect 4.
Every detail reflected the care Torry puts into her guests’ experience. These three days gave us memories we’ll cherish for years to come. We can’t wait to come back!

Dan's land has beautiful panoramic views. The cabin is near a larger house, but the set up allows for maximum privacy. The cabin is cute and cozy. Comfortable bedding is provided. There is a compost toilet, a hot water outdoor shower, and an outdoor kitchen and dining area. Many kitchen supplies are available. The campsite allows relaxation while still being connected by cell phone and wifi. It's a special place. Highly recommended.

Rachel's place was just right. The property is gorgeous and there is a good balance of privacy and also feeling you are part of the farm. She also did a great job of including little touches that make a guest feel well taken care of. I would gladly recommend staying here to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway tucked into a working farm where you can see and hear cows, ducks, chickens and more!

Weekend Trip to Unhitched Snug Harbor RV Park & Marina
Our family loved our stay at the Snuggle Inn! My boys had a good time fishing off the docks and swimming in the water. There was room for the kids to run around and even a little park playset for them to play on.
It was over 100 degrees during our stay, but the AC runs nice and cold in the living room. We set up a fan to circulate air to the bedroom, since it got a little hot back there.
Depending on your route, check to make sure the ferries are open! No fault of the hosts, but the main ferry - The Real McCoy was closed when we went, so it added an hour and a half to our drive time.

We loved staying at the Riverside Retreat and exploring the river with our dogs. The kayaks were so fun and a generous addition to the beach. We stayed in the sheds and they can get warm on summer days so bring a portable fan if you want to help clear out the heat!

Weekend Trip to Boondok Farms
As someone who goes between camping, cabins and hostels to luxury hotels this place was a dream setup for me. Steffany the property owner was easy to communicate with and responded quickly. The cabin was ready to go when I arrived, bathroom onsite with a light at night time, no check in issues. The view in the morning was beautiful and had me feeling like I was waking up in a mini oasis away from the world.
The drive from Sacramento area to the property was easy to find with the Boondok Farm sign leading the path up to the property. As long as you have good tires and your car isn't lowered you'll be able to drive straight up to your cabin.

Great place for a getaway. They offer RV Parking/camping, tent camping and cottage homes. Plenty of fishing all around. Every spot has a picnic table, grill and fire pit.

1 night at Boondok Farms
My boyfriend and I had a great weekend getaway here! The cabin is very comfy and the bathroom was nice as well. The property is beautiful, and a short drive to Grass Valley and Nevada City. A great spot for a getaway to the mountains! :)

George was a great host; communicative, helpful, and greeted us when we arrived. He’s also a skilled winemaker, so if he’s around during your visit, don't miss out on a tasting! Pups Sara and Nala are great with people, even young children, and we had a lot of fun throwing the ball for them.
The trees next to the pond provided great shade from the afternoon heat, and there were no mosquitoes! That said, bullfrogs recently found their way into the pond from the canals, and they are very noisy at night. Bring earplugs if you need quiet to sleep.
The cabin itself is clean and comfortable inside (and has AC!) but don't forget your own bedding; the futon fit a full size fitted sheet nicely. My toddler and I found the futon to be okay, but there's room in there to set up your own cot or inflatable mattress if you really wanted to, plus plenty of room to pitch a tent outside on the lawn.
At sunset, you can open the gate at the rear of the property to hike to the top of the hills for a nice view (there are free roaming cattle in the area).
It was convenient having well water and a stove already set up for camper use. One tip - a headlamp makes using the restroom much easier.
And this is still the country, so spider webs and other creepy crawlies are around. But if you're okay with that, this is a nice spot to get away from the crowds, relax, and savor spending your days slowly away from the daily grind.
