Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. You truly feel like you're in the high Sierras just 1.5 hours from Los Angeles. Big Bear Lake is a 45 minute drive away.

This cabin has the option to add the vintage trailer in the driveway June - October only as an additional space. Does not have electricity, bathroom or heating for $75 per day. Trailer not available other times of the year due to cold night temps.
Vintage 1937 Cabin: larger indoor space 1304 sq. ft. , a rock front patio, Wood stove in living room, open to upstairs loft 2 full beds, private large bedroom with another wood stove w/ queen bed and twin fold out couch, laundry room, enclosed patio with gas bbq, and a charcoal bbq on front patio(you supply your own charcoal)..
Both cabins:
Require 4 wheel drive and chains or two wheel drive and chains during winter storm snow days due to remote location.
Big falls waterfall is just a short hike away, as well as the trailhead for Vivian creek Trail. Come spend time nestled in the Coulter Pines, oaks, and maple trees.
Your neighbors are raccoons, and bears, property is situated on the edge of the San Bernardino National Forest at the top of the mountain.
You truly feel like you're in the high Sierras just 1.5 hours from Los Angeles. Big Bear Lake is a 45 minute drive away.

Our stay at this cabin in Green Valley Lake was everything we needed and more. It was the perfect escape from the city.
The cabin itself was incredibly spacious and well maintained. With three floors and four outdoor decks, there was no shortage of places to unwind and take in the peaceful forest views.

Magical Harrison Serenity Ranch truly lives up to its name. Vicki is an incredibly kind and welcoming host, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the land and her guests. Weekend Trip to Magical Harrison Serenity Ranch
Harrison Serenity Ranch is a special place that all San Diegans should experience. It’s so close, but still so far removed from city life- a real treat. Vicki and her team do an incredible job of making the site accessible for everyone, from traditonal tent sites to glamorous tents, to tiny home, there’s something for everyone. The running water is a nice touch and something that makes the whole experience that much nicer. There’s even some unique history to learn about, from when Native Americans roamed the land. It’s cool, it’s quant, and so easy to get to. Definitely check it out

I loved camping at Harrison Serenity Ranch.
I went on a Saturday night and every camping spot was full, there was around 36. The campers were very friendley. The bathrooms were clean. The sunset was beautiful and waking up and watching the sunrise was superb. Each campsite was outfitted with a shovel and either a bench table or a couple of chairs.
My dog, Percy and I, explored a few trails around the mountain. Dogs don't need to be on leash unless if they decide to go and explore on their own. There was many people but for the most part everyone stuck to themselves asides from polite conversation.

We had a great stay here and would definitely come back.
We booked the container site, which leans more toward glamping than traditional camping - having a real structure and a bed made it super comfortable while still feeling like a getaway. The property itself is really nice, with an outhouse within easy walking distance and a sink with running water, which was a big plus.
The 4WD access is short but definitely steep, so just be prepared for that. Once you’re up there, it’s worth it. We enjoyed exploring some small hikes around the property and also spent a good amount of time in town, which is just a quick drive away.
The only downside is that the site sits fairly close to the road, so you do get some street noise. It wasn’t a dealbreaker for us, but something to be aware of if you’re looking for total silence.
The owner was great - very friendly, responsive, and even met us on arrival to give a quick tour, which we appreciated.
Overall, a really solid spot for a comfortable, easy Idyllwild getaway.

We had the best time at Splitrock! Huge campsite, bathrooms, fire pit etc- everything we needed. The baby goats were the highlight for sure. Woke up to the goats roaming through our site. Would definitely stay here again, especially if we were looking for a place to camp with a large group.

Tracey & Pete have a beautiful cowboy oasis under stunning live oaks and alongside an idyllic swimmable stream. The entire place is an homage to architect, metal artist and sign maker Bob Morris who reimagined and helped create old town Temucula. They were friendly, had great stories to tell and we would love to revisit!

Granite Mountain was an incredible escape! The views, sunrise, and sunset were breathtaking. So much so I proposed here. The cabin is easy to access from where you park and has everything you need. Ken was an excellent host, he was very responsive and made sure everything was taken care of. I would highly recommend!

This campground is Beautiful! Trees, flowers,
Green grass. So calming it was the perfect place to unwind and relax.
Listened to good music drinking cold adult beverages, & cooking bomb asada taco.
We went during the week, two days one night we had the whole campsite to ourselves. It was the first time in my life for over 24 hours. My husband was the only person I ever saw.
One of the most relaxing camping trips I’ve ever had.

Splitrock is a rustic plot of land, great for families! Free range goats and dogs, pay extra for the baby goat encounter. Check the weather beforehand....if there's high winds book another night! Otherwise it's great!

My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Canned Ham! The property is beautifully decorated giving a whimsical Yosemite feel. The camper is small but extremely cozy and intimate. The jacuzzi is awesome and the sauna is a must! Will definitely come back!
