The Forbes Island off-grid event venue and campground are at Bradford Island in the Sacramento River Delta. The floating barge is moored next to our private ranch, utilized for tent and RV camping for larger groups. We limit rentals to single groups for ultimate privacy in a natural setting. You and your guests enjoy the remote Sacramento River Delta wetlands while being only a short drive from the Bay Area. Guests have direct access to water sports and private docks.
*Note: Forbes Island requires passage via the Bradford Island car ferry (see schedule below), a personal watercraft, or a captained passenger ferry boat that must be booked in advance. Boat dock space is included.
History:
Forbes Thor Kiddoo came to San Francisco in 1959 after a stint in the Coast Guard. A carpenter and engineer, he developed a business constructing houseboats in Sausalito. Then, inspired by Jules Verne’s Captain Nemo and the movie version of “20,000 Leagues Under The Sea”, Forbes Kiddoo built himself an underwater home, complete with portholes for watching the fish swim past, a diving hatch and a grand bedroom suite fit for a captain of his private world. In the ’90s, Forbes added a 40-foot lighthouse and a white picket fence.
Today, a small group of committed friends has preserved and kept Forbes Island afloat for community events, opening it for all to experience and enjoy. Your rental helps us to maintain this totally unique, fabulous find into the future.

Are day campers included in the total guest count, or does it only apply to overnight guests? All campers, whether they are staying overnight or not, must be included in the reservation.
Can additional guests be added after the initial booking? Yes, you can modify your trip to add more guests through the Hipcamp app, but you cannot exceed the maximum capacity.

Welcome to the Amaya Creek Redwood Campground!
We are deep in the Santa Cruz mountains and it’s rustic so be prepared! The road is all paved but it can be narrow, bumpy and steep in some areas. Be sure to follow our directions to bypass the road closure! There is no cell phone service in some areas.
PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a trash service for the campground, we require all campers to PACK OUT THEIR TRASH with them!
We have 40 acres of redwood forest and two creeks running through including the Amaya Creek which serves the boundary of our property at the end of Amayak Creek Trail. There’s also a small waterfall off the Amaya Creek Trail, but it may dry out during the summer. Enjoy hiking, creeks and small waterfall exploration, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, star gazing, relaxation, meditation and more.
Our campground has running water from a natural spring, Men and Women's Restrooms each with 2 toilets and 1 FREE hot water shower, utility shed with sink and hot water, and an outdoor amphitheater. The kitchen and washer/dryer is Staff Only not for campers. .
Most campsites allow 4-6 guests maximum with 1 car included in the nightly rate. Each additional vehicle is $15 per day and will be added at checkout once you add the correct number of vehicles you will be bringing.
Pets are $10 per day, 1 pet per group ONLY. Please add this as an extra at the time of booking, you will see the option to add extras once you begin the checkout process. Dogs must be on leash at all times!
Quiet hours are 10pm-8am. No drugs of any kind including marijuana allowed. No loud music allowed. This is a private property so no visitors are allowed, only paid guests. Our onsite staff will go around and enforce the rules.

I had originally booked site 1 to be closer to the restroom, but was told that someone that was currently staying there extended their stay. Jing was very prompt & kind to offer us other campsites within the area. We ended staying at Site 3 instead, which actually worked out much better in my honest opinion. It was literally right next to the hiking trail that my buddies went on. However site 3 was advertised as (Near Restroom) but it really isn't. It's a pretty long walk up and down a hill to get it. Luckily we paid for the extra car, which ended up being our vehicle to drive to the restroom. I don't think that would make me not recommend to stay at here. We made it work. Overall our stay was super nice, memories were made with friends & family. The redwoods provided so much shade and we felt cool all day. Not to mention sunset was really nice as well. We walked & drove past the group campsite and probably would plan another stay at that site next time. Thank you for the hospitality! We'll be back!

Beautiful trees surround the group site’s flat ground. But each individual campsite looked pristine, the most south ones especially. Plenty of picnic tables, bathrooms suitable, water food. There’s also 15 min hike straight down to a creek. Gorgeous spot!

Amaya Creek is an absolutely stunning, must-visit campground for anyone looking to truly for peace, feel to nature.
The towering redwoods provide incredible shade and privacy, making each site feel like its own secluded forest haven. We particularly loved falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the creek running nearby—it’s the perfect antidote to city noise.
The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you want a genuine, peaceful experience with excellent access to nature trails, this is the place. We left feeling completely refreshed and can't wait to return. Highly recommend.

Site 2 was lovely with the tree overhang. It's well positioned to the bathroom--not to far, not too close. Bathrooms were fully functional and stocked with TP. We were warned quite soon after our arrival that some other campers had been stung by wasps so tread carefully when off trail or beyond your camp site. We stayed just one night. Overall, an easy and lovely experience!

I really enjoyed getting out in this beautifully treed campground. It felt like I had the entire campground to myself and they have a nice little hiking trail. They also have different types of camping accommodations at reasonable prices. So yes I would recommend Jing's Land to all you Hipcampers.

We had a lovely time tent camping here. The place was pretty empty when we arrived on Thursday afternoon and then got busy later Friday afternoon. Sleeping under the trees was a real treat. I will confirm that this site is not very close to the bathrooms and is also very close to other sites, but neither of those things were an issue for us personally. We are hoping to book one of the bigger sites next time and come back with family so they too can enjoy this beautiful property! As folks who live in Santa Cruz, we are happy to have found a place to escape to that is super close by and yet feels fully tucked into the woods. We did the trail walk down to the river, it was a bit steep but only about a 20-30 min walk. The path was really wide which made it easy to steer clear of poison oak. This is definelty a great spot, especially for families, but as a couple, we really enjoyed our stay-cation!

Camped at site 3, because it was labeled as flat, and it was. It was a quiet camp, and the walk to the bathroom was fine. Bathroom is minimal, I’m fine with it, I can imagine people wanting a more comfortable experience being uncomfortable with “roughness” of its set up. Better than and outhouse.
The camp itself has a lot of elevation change between campsites, which adds to privacy. Was there in middle of week, so camp was generally less busy than what one might expect on the weekend.
Camp was easy to find with map. Dog was with me in tent, and was up every two hours or so scanning the area, but there was never anything there.
I’d go back if I’m just looking for a minimal no frills place to stay that isn’t BLM camping in the area. Worth the price.

My wife and I enjoyed our rooftop tent camping experience at Amaya Creek. The sites are spacious and privately secluded for a good sense of privacy, mainly because of the beautiful coastal redwoods. The wildlife was also entertaining, Owls, wild turkeys, woodpeckers, and can’t leave out the bats! Nature’s mosquito eaters, Being on the west side of the ridge made the nights cooler, which was very pleasant.

The area is serene! The drive to the site is beautiful, zig-zaggy & steep; best not to arrive in the dark. This particular site accommodates one large tent or two smaller tents and 2 small cars, has plenty of shade, overlooks a bit of a drop-off (not scary, nice view), and has a separate area slightly lower with a picnic table. It’s a split-level campsite—very cool. Shared bathroom worked, with space for multiple visitors at once.

The forest is beautiful and the campground is easy to access. It has great proximity to Santa Cruz, and the surrounding mountain community is darling. A great grocery store and a few wineries to visit.

9 ft pop-up camper
Booked as a last min overnight trip, my boyfriend and I had a great time. Good privacy, great view of the delta, and very nice bathrooms. Hoping to come back with more friends to fish
