The 24 ft. Modern Yurt can sleep up to 4 people with a queen bed, a sofa bed. A queen air mattress is available upon request for additional 2 guests. Other amenities include a sauna, an (unheated) swimming pool with swim-up bar, outdoor kitchen stocked with dishes, large decks and patios, lounges and deck chairs, shade umbrellas, hammock, horseshoe pit and giant chess board. It is the perfect destination for a special occasion, an overnight stop on a long trip, an extended retreat, or just a chance to get away from it all.
Guests have access to the yurt, pool area, outdoor kitchen, horseshoe pit and fire pit/chess board area. Do not wander around the property beyond these specified areas, up the stairs or ramp leading to the house, and do not go to the house on site. Home is usually vacant but it is a private vacation home.
Colfax is a quaint, historic railroad town with lots of charm and plenty to do in the great outdoors. We are located about two hours from the Bay Area, just 45 minutes from Sacramento and only 45 minutes east on I-80 will bring you to world class skiing on Donner Summit and lots of other activities in the mountains. Colfax offers many restaurants, shops, stores and nearby Rollins Lake is great for boating, fishing, water skiing or swimming. The American River canyon offers kayaking, white water rafting, mountain biking, hiking and fishing. In the surrounding countryside, one can find many small vineyards & wineries, an occasional brewery or roadside fruit stand. It can be both sunny and cool here since we are located in the foothills, above the fog and at snowline.
The Colfax Amtrak stop is only a 10 minute walk from the house, there's also a Greyhound line that stops in town.

We are on 6+ acres surrounded by pine trees, scrub oak and a few valley oak. You'll be next to a beautiful vineyard and can walk a short way up the hill to "View Forever Lane" and...well...view forever!
We have goats on the property. All are friendly, in a goat kind of way. No, they don't do yoga! We moved here about 12 years ago and have welcomed others on the land since we arrived.
We also have a few dog runs and are building a doggie obstacle course we use for dog training. Keep your eye out as our land develops.

Come play in the Sierra Foothills! We're on 6 acres with moderate privacy. The yurt is a glamping experience. You'll have a full, 100% private, bathroom located in the main house just a short walk from the yurt. There is a limited camp kitchen that includes coffee maker, toaster and hot water boiler, with the opportunity to rent our camp kitchen kit if you do not want to bring your own items for cooking.
We have ponderosa pines, scrub oak and a few valley oak on the property. We also have goats that you are welcome to visit.
You will be close to hiking, biking trails, lakes and only an hour from Lake Tahoe. There is no lack of activities. We are also located right next door to a vineyard that, after a short walk, allows views of the entire Sierra Foothills to the Mountains and down to the valley.
We have hosted the yurt for over 5 years on other platforms.

2 nights at Foothills Yurt Glamping
2nd time at this place and loved it! We’ve now stayed there in the summer and the winter and it was great both trips. This time it poured outside and the interior was still well heated and comfy to be in. We were amazed at how it was still incredibly clean and showed little signs of any wear from the last trip, so the hosts definitely keep it in great shape. Looking forward to coming back for a 3rd trip!

It's my 2nd time coming and it was great! There was some small issues like the bathroom light not working and some skunks at night wanting to hang out, but nothing to spoil a great time.
I will say bring extra toilet paper if it's more than 4 people. 2 rolls go by quickly! As well there are some meat wasps that were there both times, they look scarier than they are. They didn't sting us, but rather wanted out food.
I loved the manual thatwba left behind that explained everything.

2 nights at Foothills Yurt Glamping
This property was beautiful and private! My first time using a Air BnB and it didn't disappoint. Single mom with two kids, one semi adult 😁and it was perfect for us. The yurt is beautiful and decorated so perfect. Incredibly cozy and the deck was a perfect place to drink my coffee in the morning. We had wild rabbits and baby foxes playing under us. The pool was our favorite spot as we swam for hours, relaxing and soaking up the sun. There were a lot of things not working and/or missing. The hammock, the music on hot tub, the sauna and no working light in shower all broken. The swim up pool bar area is nothing but a table with cobwebs. Those were disappointing. Lots of yellow jackets, my daughter got stung. Wasn't expecting that many especially since all cooking had to be done outside but I worked through it. The train rolling through town can be noisy for some but I found it soothing. Overall the property is just incredible and it is up for sale which could explain why so many things weren't working. If you want a private escape in nature but still glamorous, this is highly recommended. We all miss it! Thankful for the owner sharing this amazing place.

This magical yurt has been our special place for 7 years and counting. We have seen it grow and change over the years, but it remains such a magical spot. This was our first year bringing our 9 month old who also had a blast roaming about, meeting the goats, and enjoying the outdoors. The yurt has everything you need, including a new outdoor bathroom and shower! We had such a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back soon! Thank you Heather for always being the best host and for the extra surprise for baby :)

This was such a phenomenal stay! The Yurt has everything that you need, water, a fire place, outdoor cooking gear as well as hot running water and a bathroom. It was so easy to cook there, we just brought our cooler and used the stove they had. I would recommend getting all the utensils/cooking equipment for rent, it made our lives that much easier. It was more than we could have hoped for, and everything was great. Heather was super communicative and made the stay so easy. I would recommend this for anyone who wants the outdoors, but the pleasures of sleeping in a bed. The Yurt stayed nice and cozy overnight for us with some wood in the stove. We also got to see the goats! My dog loved being able to explore the grounds too. It is only about 20 minutes away from Nevada City, which is a cute small funky town that we enjoyed visiting. Overall, the stay was fantastic. We will be back again!

We had a great time staying at the Yurt. There were 6 of us, there to celebrate a Birthday. The outdoor kitchen was great, having everything needed to cook. One gas burner on BBQ, pots and pans, plates, utensils, big sink, good sized fridge/freezer. It was overcast/rainy so the string lights never came on, and had no idea if we could turn them on ourselves. Glad we brought extra TP. We had a great time!
