This is great option for those who like to bring all their own gear to camp, and don’t need or want all the extras. Our new Primitive Adventures campsites are located on an established 5-star property. It’s a peaceful, secluded and private country estate. The 20 acre property starts out flat and then gentle to moderate sloped hillside with coastal live oak trees, eucalyptus trees, pine trees, meadows and many interesting landscape features nestled between the vast farmlands of North Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties. We are 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather is usually mild here and we have cool evenings. We do get days that are in the 90s sometimes in the summer and early fall, but we also have lots of shade with all the trees. There is wildlife like deer, turkeys and owls and so much more. We have horses and a donkey, separate from the campsites, so no flies or smell from them. We provide one hot water shower and there are 3 outhouse style toilets on the grounds. There is NO running water at the sites so we suggest you bring your own drinking water. There will be limited water provided for hand/dish washing. We are a pack it in/pack it out campground so please, be mindful of waste as we ask that you take it out with you. You may forage for plentiful eucalyptus and oak firewood for free, or pre-cut pine is available for purchase. Most of our weekends are fully booked at our Rustic Campsites already, so here is another chance to have yourself a weekend camping trip at our new Primitive Adventures campsites. We had such a fun stay at the Room with a View of a Ewe! Kim the host was extremely welcoming and friendly - she showed us around the farm and we got to feed the chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, bunnies, and alpacas. It was a hit with our toddler. The cabin was comfortable and warm overnight, and the breakfast and s’mores kit were an added bonus. Thanks Kim!

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this HipCamp! The tent site was perfect — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up. Everything we needed was there, from a well-equipped kitchen and fridge to spotless indoor toilets (such a bonus when camping with kids!). We went on the river a couple of times and the kids loved playing in it. Barry, our host, was attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. Firewood was available for purchase, which made our evenings around the campfire even better. I came with my two kids, and we all had such a great time — we’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for an easy, relaxing, and well-run camping experience.

Thaddeus and Mona are the sweetest and their place is amazing! It’s a beautiful property and you can tell they take pride in it and put a lot of work into the guest experience. They really wanted feedback on how to keep improving but honestly I had no complaints- between the homemade welcome gift, hot shower, beautiful gardens, affordable price point, and clear communication, my stay was perfect :)

We had a great time in the Sky View Cabana! Ludo and Vaza were excellent hosts. The cabana is nestled in their backyard, but feels quite private with a beautiful view of the valley below. The bed was super comfy and the cabana was stocked with a mini fridge, sink, shower, towels, coffee, and a few kitchen essentials like mugs and cutlery. We lounged on the hammocks, went for a walk through the woods, and enjoyed the sunset on the deck. Fantastic getaway!

My partner and I loved staying at Cole’s Ranch! Barry is extremely hospitable and organized. All of the amenities he provides were also super clean; we really appreciated the clean bathroom and kitchen area. Highly recommend the tour he provides as well! We ended up booking the hay ride and cow/calf experience and all of their cows were friendly and loved being pet. We’re definitely going to come back again next time!

We absolutely loved our stay here! Veronica is such a warm and accommodating host who went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The property itself is stunning, a beautiful non-profit space that feels like you have traveled far away to a peaceful savannah desert. We had the best time sitting around a bonfire with Veronica under a million stars, truly unforgettable. The location is perfect, close to Pinnacles National Park but feels worlds away from everything. Totally worth the drive, and we will definitely be back again!

My buddy and I wanted to get back into camping, and we heard about Hipcamp from a friend. We found Fisherman's Hideout on Cole Ranch just about 20 minutes from his house. Barry messaged us immediately after we booked and sent us a thorough welcome packet that had all of the information regarding our visit. He came right out to us when he saw us pull into our campsite. He was super friendly and we got a tour of the property from his wife. The campsite was clean and had a new firepit with benches. The bathrooms were clean and we had a great first Hipcamp experience. We will definitely be back again
