Dino’s place was great! The property was cool, spacious, and peaceful. There were miles of hiking trails right out the back of the property, and a little boat ramp about a 3-5 minute walk that we would have used for paddling if the weather was better. The town of Locke is a very short walk and was an amazing bit of little-known history, also had some cool shops. There are a couple restaurants a short walk or drive away. Dino was very hospitable and we loved our stay! We’ll be back for sure. Oh, and I should add our dogs enjoyed exploring the area too :)

This is our second time to this beautiful property and we will return again. Doug and Denise are both very warm and welcoming. They are the perfect combination of offering help if needed but also giving us our space. The property is just beautiful with a river you can walk to and so many varieties of mushrooms. Weekend Trip to Camp Rewilding

Skid camp was a perfect spot for off the beaten path, for a quiet night. It’s located very close to Madonna County Park that offers amazing hiking as well as other activities. There is a small fire ring and bench made out of logs. We were able to gather fire wood easily. No bells and whistles, just a freshly skidded road with a campable landing. Recommend 4x4 for much easier access—the drive out off the mountain in the morning was truly beautiful.

Weekend Trip to Bear Gulch Hide Out

My husband and I were testing out a camper van and driving down the coast and we enjoyed this spot! It’s peaceful and quiet with pretty views of the sea in the distance. Art was very friendly and communicative about accessing the spot, etc. It was very easy to find - even in the dark and in the fog - because of Art’s instructions. As others have noted the porta potty is a little ways away and down a hill so just be aware of that when you book. We would definitely stay here again!

This is an incredibly peaceful site, where the only sound at night is the ocean and the only reminder that you are close to a major city are the planes flying in and out of SFO in the distance. We saw lots of wildlife like a family of quails hanging around the edge of the site. Our dog loved exploring the area. We were hoping to hike on the redwood forest trail that ends near the site, but realized dogs are not allowed there, so we just walked down the road from the site instead and enjoyed the beautiful valley views until we could see the ocean. It definitely would be more of a primitive camping experience if not for the pristine Porta-potty, which we didn’t mind. The picnic table and chairs were a nice bonus, though the umbrellas were missing some parts. As others have mentioned and the host shared with us, things will be quite wet in the morning. Rebecca gave us super helpful recommendations on which nearby beaches we could take our dog

The views are breathtaking. It is quiet and relaxing! Expect to bring your own toilet so you don't have to leave the ridge when you need to go and refill your water jug at the water station he has at the top (Not for drinking). Very convenient. There's a lot of shade but bring your own awning or EZ up for extra flexibility. He added a picnic table and there's a small bench. If you have a HOWL (portable propane campfire), approve it with him at the time but that's probably the only kind of fire that would be accepted. Definitely bring layers of clothing as it could get either windy and cold during different times of the day. But expect to be relaxed and ready for the week after you are done camping!!!!
