The 23-ft (7 m) geodesic dome features a queen memory-foam bed, additional convertible sleeping spaces, comfortable lounge and dining areas, WiFi, mini fridge/freezer, projector and screen, Bluetooth soundbar, and a large panoramic window overlooking the desert.
Outside, you’ll find several private areas to relax and enjoy the landscape, including a propane fire pit, hammock, outdoor seating and dining areas.
The outdoor bar/kitchen includes a four-burner propane grill with side burner, sink, bar counter and dining space.
A separate private restroom and shower cabin includes a flush portable toilet, sink and hot shower. Towels and soap are provided.
During the warmer months, guests can enjoy our 8-ft stock-tank pool, open seasonally from May through October.
Guests have private access to the entire 2.5-acre property, including the geodesic dome, seasonal pool, outdoor kitchen and BBQ, fire pit, outdoor dining and lounge areas, private restroom and hot shower, and surrounding desert grounds and rock formations.
The entire property is reserved exclusively for you during your stay, THERE ARE NO SHARED SPACES.
The Hilltop Getaway is an off-grid desert experience rather than a conventional hotel stay. Electricity is supplied by our solar/battery system.
Utility water is provided for washing and showering but is not intended for drinking, so please bring bottled drinking water.
Commercial and professional photo/video productions require prior approval.

This was originally a Girl Scout camp called Singing Pines back in the 30’s. You’ll see as you roam around some of the original buildings and structures. It hasn’t been in operation as a Girl Scout camp for over 30 years. The bigger building is an Airbnb for groups. They will also have access to the lake.
DIRECTIONS:
Take Exit for Angeles Crest Hwy (Hwy 2) from the 210
Go North, up the mountain for 29 miles
Turn left on Sulpher Springs Rd
Go about a mile and you will see a Singing Pines sign up on a hill on the right side.
There is a white gate which is usually open but if it's closed go ahead and open it.
Go down that driveway about a mile and turn left at the fork.
Follow that road down and around the lake staying to the right. Once you passed the lake there will be a little uphill and the location is on the left.

The Skoolie is a converted short bus with two love seats that convert to an RV queen bed, sink, stove top, dinette, and over head lights. Outside is a private meadow with a short walk to a small lake. You can bring your fishing gear. It's stocked with Bass and Bluegill. Outside the Skoolie is a picnic table, fire pit (firewood $10 a bundle) and a hammock. Up the hill, a very short walk is the private campground toilet facility. This is not shared with anyone else.
No cell phone reception no linens bring a sleeping bag or warm blankets. You can charge your phone in the Skoolie for a sunrise alarm or just to take pictures.

The camping is set away from structures, but if you want to stroll, closer to the ranch buildings, we have friendly small goats you can visit if interested and horses and a donkey to say hello to across the corral fence.

Run by three generations, our ranch has been in our family for more than 70 years. We opened our doors to the public in 2014 to help support feeding our animals, bred and rescued, after the Powerhouse Fire almost burned us out. We’ve survived a county quarantine(2018-2019), the COVID Lockdowns (2021-2022), the Lake Fire (2020), and the Hurricane Kay burn scar debris flow and flood (9/11/22), depending on hard work and strong family and community bonds. In addition to camping and educational tours, we host private and community events, grow and sell produce and eggs, hatch and sell chicks, rescue ratites, and support the local bee population (which gives us RAW honey to sell), and are working to open a private U-pick-by-appointment orchard. We are all animal lovers, and conservationists, and try to do our part to ensure our children inherit a healthy and viable world. This is our home where we live, work, love, and play. We enjoy sharing our space with visitors who we hope learn about ostrich and make some great memories.

Pros: quite close to LA and while it isn’t the darkest sky, you’re still able to see so many stars and meteors. Very isolated area where we did not see nor hear from a single soul during our time there. We really enjoyed cowboy camping under the stars and counting all the meteors we saw. Some spotty service with only the occasional SOS.
Cons: 4WD is necessary. Drive slow, follow the directions, have offline maps and directions downloaded. Be prepared to possibly get stuck in sand and have the appropriate tools to get yourself out. The links in the message from the host are broken. The painted rocks/lines noted in the directions are difficult to locate and should consider a different means to determine where to park on the site as well as outlining where the fire pit is. Myself and the camp managed just fine, but be sure to allocate a lot of time to do those things before dark. Unfortunately, the host was not reachable during our time there, but we made the booking last minute so not a huge fault that the host was without service during that time.
All in all, would come out again, just would be better prepared with regards to our arrival time.

We had another great stay camping on the field! The weather was perfect for summer, warm and breezy during the day and even slightly chilly overnight. Stargazing was wonderful including catching a few shooting stars. Little trails on site continue to be calming to explore. We appreciated the generous shade of the tree canopy. Plenty of insect life around but not uncomfortable (note: we encountered a few wasps/hornets but had no issue once food removed). Clean porta potty. Rachel is kind and great to communicate with. This may be our go-to campsite for a quick, local private getaway outdoors.

2 nights at Tiny Home Cabin in the Hills
I was looking for a quiet place to relax and reset and this tiny cabin was perfect! I particularly loved having my morning coffee on the deck and listening to the ravens, red-tailed hawks, peacocks, and occasional whinny from the neighboring horse stables - it was peaceful and such a nice change from the sounds of the city only a few minutes away. Araceli is a wonderful host and made sure I knew my way around the features of the camp! I will definitely keep this in mind for if I need another LA-area staycation or if I need to recommend a great retreat to any of my friends.

The field was spacious with a small deck with solar powered lights, a tree canopy offering needed shade, and sunflowers blooming with pollinators in action (I've never seen so many butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and ladybugs in one day!) Greatly appreciated the sense of privacy, freedom to explore onsite trails, and convenience of a clean porta-potty and water spigot near the barn. Rachel was awesome to communicate with, offering clear instructions with considerate flexibility. Looking forward to returning!

This was a sweet stop on my road trip from LA to Yosemite. Araceli greeted me even though I got in after dark, and gave me a thorough tour. I loved showering outdoors under the stars, the beautiful view in the morning, and the fact that the cabin had AC!! Truly one of the best glamping experiences.

Had a last minute trip to stay here and it was so lovely! The campground itself had a picnic table and a few tree stumps that could be used as chairs. We watched the sunset and overnight heard the sound of birds and crickets. In the morning we woke up and after we had made our own breakfast we went to feed the horse and see the goats and also feed their 70-year-old tortoise named Benito on the property. They provided us with some board games to play with at the campsite which was so thoughtful. I really loved staying here. It was a very great way to get to camp within an hour of Los Angeles. Would definitely recommend.

Arminda & Alex are the best hosts you could ask for. This place was easy to find, and the couple and their family were nothing but lovely. The camping spots were serene and private. The hiking was fantastic and when they asked if we needed anything at all, we inquired about forgotten batteries. Not only did they provide them for us, they went out of their way to get them. I recommend lots of sunscreen but all in all I will recommend this place to everyone and be going back myself soon in the future!

What a magical little place, and SO close to LA. I had a great weekend getaway with my 8 year old golden retriever. The bus was very charming, we were given water, and Brian even graciously left ice. We had firewood on site which helped not having to try to cram another thing in the car. The location is such a fun historic snapshot of an old summer camp, I did some exploring but wish I had the time to do even more.
I'd absolutely come back! One thing I'd do a little different, depending on the season I'm sure, is there's quite a bit of gnats swarming around. I'll come back with my canopy and have some nets around it to build a little safe zone around the picnic table.
I brought an electric off road bike with me, and I definitely recommend bringing some kind of bike to take the dirt roads for exploring! So much fun.

There were also a couple cute spots for tent camping like under a huge tree’s canopy and on/around a small deck. We brought our dog who enjoyed her stay. There is a really clean portapotty there.

Extremely nice hosts with some very cool animals. We made friends with the three puppies that were running around the property, we couldn't believe how cute they were.
