The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).

This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.
For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s).
If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.

We invite you to experience the beautiful wilderness of upper Calistoga. Our land is true wilderness, with some development of trails and amenities, at our Calistoga ranch just 10 minutes outside of town.
Our ranch has been newly renamed after my new son Dylan, born where I live out of state, who will inherit this family land of 100+ years. Dylan's Ranch is our newest project over the last 3 years, creating the campsites after we created the trails for our wedding in summer 2022.
We currently have 3 campsites. Please see descriptions for each campsite access and services available. *The Hilltop/Coral Cabin has the most access and services. If you don't need the cabin (have an RV or want to pitch your tent), let me know and I will discount your nightly rate by $30/night (and no cleaning fee at all).
You will see lots of wildlife! Beautiful birdssong every morning, little lizards everywhere, turkeys, deer, and the occasional rattlesnake (just be aware, they are not aggressive). Please see Site descriptions for more details.

10 acre hobby ranch in a secluded area of California- 1 hour from Sacramento and 2 hours to San Francisco yet worlds away from city life.Horses, goats, a 2 acre pond and pool to experience from the comforts of a tiny house on wheels.Wifi is available but about once a month it does go out so please just mentally prepare yourself that you might not have wifi when here. Cell service doesnt really work either unless you are Sprint. Weekend Trip to Private River Oasis
This is easily the best glamping experience I’ve had. The proximity to the White River is unbeatable. Having direct swimming access and those stunning views right from the deck was amazing.
The cabin itself was sparkling clean, spacious, and packed with great amenities like a full kitchen, TV, and a perfect barbecue setup for dinner.
The owner was fantastic—super communicative and available on-site for anything we needed while still giving us plenty of privacy. An absolute 10/10 stay.

We had another wonderful trip here. The hilltop is so beautiful and serene, the extra supplies and cook station will be your aid when you inevitably forget some essentials. We can bring our large dog and she can have the freedom of being off leash which she loves. There is a home-like feel, and the bath and shower are one of a kind. Highly reccomend

2 nights at Dylan's Ranch at Whaleback Ridge
Dan's property with the Coral Cabin is ideal for a camper who prefers some amenities. The cabin is cozy and set up perfectly to sleep and be protected from the elements. The outdoor kitchen has running water and a camp stove. There is a storage area that has room to put food and includes a refrigerator. Having a toilet was a luxury in the outdoors as was the outdoor shower. The site provides views, lots of space, peaceful quiet and almost complete privacy. Hiking in the nearby state park was delightful, as was going into town to walk around and have a meal. I highly recommend this location.

3 nights at Private River Oasis
I camped here with my dad and the setting was beautiful and peaceful. Fishing was fun (but mostly small fish), and the host was incredibly kind—he even gave us a ride back up the hill in his truck after a tough hike in.
Important heads-up: You really need a 4WD to reach the campsite. We didn’t have one and had to haul our gear half a mile down a steep, rocky path. It was rough, especially for my dad in his late 70s. If you like hiking in, just be sure to pack light!
The cabins are very basic (comfy beds, a few hooks, not much space), and we had ant issues even with food stored carefully. Heads up, the portapotty hadn't been cleaned in a while and smelled pretty bad when we got there.
If you’re prepared and ideally have the place mostly to yourself, it’s a lovely river escape. The host alone makes it worth the visit.

Dan went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Area was peaceful and the cabin was comfortable. He did recently add a privacy screen between the campsite and the house. Availability of on-site water and electricity makes this easier than a state or forest service campgrounds.
