Was excellent. Quiet, plenty of space (though it didn’t hurt that we had the whole place to ourselves). Hit water, flushable toilets, hot showers, nice big sink to wash dishes. Very convenient, clean. We were in the Meadow campsite. 10 minutes to the ocean. Gualala a cool seaside town.

This was gorgeous, magical land, and we loved being there. The road down was a bit more of a pilgrimage than we anticipated, but 1000% worth the journey. The waterfall pools were incredible, and our pup was in heaven too. Thank you for sharing such special land with us- we hope to return!

I brought my dog for his first camping/glamping adventure and it was a success since the adorable site made him (and me) so comfortable! He got to see deer, lizards, butterflies and other types of wildlife for the first time and we both had a blast. I was shocked by how cozy and comfortable the tent and bed both were and waking up in the morning was an absolute delight. We will definitely be returning!

Excellent, amazing, quiet place to camp. Group nearby was talking a bit loudly after the 9 PM quiet time, but very respectful, they quieted down completely when we asked. I love that you can walk to the beach, or hike inland for miles, without ever getting in the car. The place, the staff, and even the other campers, all seemed very kind and communicative. We highly recommend this camp.

Great glamping experience. The ride up is a bit rough, but the reward is total seclusion. We were the only guests, and even if there had been others, they would have been out of sight. The yurt was great, and the soaking tub amazing. A very unique experience. I would recommend staying two nights in a row for a full day of calm and disconnect. We stayed one night, and it felt too short.

Weekend Trip to The Hideaway at Hole In The Wall

Booked last minute and was really impressed as we didn't know what to expect. This is on Thomas’ property who greeted us even with our late arrival being about 9ish Friday night. Walked us to our site and talked with us a short bit. Told us he has dogs on the property that do roam and an added bonus we did get to meet the cat as well. Sites are about 20-30 feet apart with benches and fire pits. Our camp site had a large fire pit and a tire swing. They had a shower, dish washing station, water refill station and the cleanest port-o-pottys I have ever seen. Highly recommend this site. The hole in the wall swimming hole is not on the grounds but is a minute drive away to park and a 5-10 minute quick walk down to the water. The pictures on the site are exactly how it looks. You will mot be disappointed.

Chris is an amazing host. We so enjoyed our stay at Spirit Chicken Ranch. The swimming hole, the sauna the kitchen and space for the dogs was a dream. I will for sure be returning.

Higher Ground provided exactly the peace and solitude we were searching for! It’s a short drive to some epic river spots, and in the heat of the day the shade cover keeps camp the perfect temperature for rest and relaxation. The outdoor kitchen set up was beautiful, providing a great view and gentle breeze while you cook. Raji keeps the camp tidy and tasteful, with just enough lighting to welcome us to camp after dark, but not enough to impede the epic stars at night! We would visit again and highly recommend!

Upper Lake is a sleepy little town surrounded by lakes and wilderness but just a half hour from major freeways. The lot is in town with mature fruit trees, a seasonal creek in back and friendly live-and-let-live neighbors. The water is from a hose connected to city water, and there is a rudimentary composting toilet in the garden shed. Lot is long enough that 2 parties could camp on either end w/ good privacy. My RV sits there now too, in the long driveway w/ plenty more space. Nearby Clear Lake is great for boating and fishing, and nearby Blue Lakes are breathtaking and pristine, great for swimming. The town 2 blocks away has a hip high-end restaurant with local bands most nights and weekends, and there is also a moderate priced fabulous brunch place a few blocks away, a coffee shop in town, and other little shops including grocery with deli. Good place to stop and stock up. There's even a Baskin Robbins a quick drive down the road, and gas and propane fillups. Primal Lands at OZ Family Farm

Primal Lands at OZ Family Farm is set in the Rocktree Valley just East of Willits. We are a working family farm about 15 minutes, from the town center. The camp sites are in a private pasture with views of snow capped mountains in the winter and a beautiful moon rising above the tree tops in the summer. There are two streams that the campsites are located next to. one seasonal and one year round. This peaceful valley is home to an extensive amount of wildlife. It hosts both wild pigs and turkeys as well as deer, bobcats, foxes, rabbits and an occasional mountain lion or bear have veen spotted. You should bring your binoculars because the valley is lined with acres upon acres of forests and wooded hills that are home to an incredible variety of birds and tree species. We hope our primal land will help expose people to the diverse flora and fauna around them and help educate them to the need to protect the diversity in people, places and our planet. All of which bring an important piece of the puzzle to the table and hold keys to our past and future. We hope to be able to have the honor of hosting many different groups that can gather here on this land for learning, teaching and cummuning with the nature that flourishes here. There is an abundance of things to do in and around Willits. It can be your cozy get away to rest, read a book next to the sounds of the stream or hike and ride a bike or a horse down our dirt roads. The Skunk Train in town can take you on a trip through through the Redwood Forest and Noyo River Canyon towards Fort Bragg. It stops along its route to see the Wolf Tree Redwood. The oldest along its tracks. You also have the option of booking an excursion on the Railbikes which leave from both Willits or Fort Bragg and use the same train tracks. If your driving to Fort Bragg you will want to go to Glass Beach on the coast and check out the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens or do a Scavenger Hunt. There is also the Coast Redwood growing in Montgomery Woods State Park to our south having what was thought for a long time to be the tallest known tree in the world at close to 365 feet tall. It stands 5 stories higher than the Statue of Liberty. In the town of Willits there a myriad of options. Eclectic shopping at Mazahan or Earths Treasures or classics at The GOOD Shoppe or Art in the Plaza. Gateway games offers weekly card and board game competitions or go visit Ridgewood Ranch, the final home of the legendary Racehorse Seabiscuit. If camping , hiking and relaxing just isn't enough to fill your day there is golf available in Brooktrails and Mendocino County is home to ten different appellations of wine with over 25% dedicated to organic and sustainable farming. Upcoming Events: April 8: Come sit by the fire for the Total Eclipse of the sun June 28: starts the beginnig of Frontier Days. Camp with us and be just 15 minutes away from the week long event with Jr Rodeo qualifiers for Las Vegas Jr World Championships, Pro Rodeo and concerts and Ranch Broncs and Bull. We have a seperate pasture that can accomodate horse trailers and camp sites with nearly a half mile excercise trail. You will need to text from Willits for us to meet you upon arrival. You will need to sign a waiver and we can show you to your location. We also will let you know if we have any farm raised products availaable to share. There is no wifi available on the campsite but upon arrival we will direct you to the main farmhouse, walking distance if you need anything or need wifi

We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Please note that during late summer, creek does not flow on surface but always has swimming holes where the salmon and steelhead wait for Fall rains to carry them down to the Eel river and eventually to the ocean, until they return as adults to spawn again. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Barely 7 minutes away is downtown Gualala, with amenities such as 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants and more. There is a beautiful holistic gift store, The Sea Trader, Four Eyed Frog Bookstore, and some lovely art galleries in town. Kayaking is available at the Gualala River. Hiking at Gualala Regional Park, the Bluff Trail, The Sea Ranch public access beaches, Stump Beach, Salt Point Park with a petrified forest, Bowling Ball Beach with its amazing natural formations (can only be seen fully at low tide of more than -0.2m), Manchester State Beach, Elk Beach, and more. Swimming at the Navarro River, and various bays. It is a place of incredible scenic beauty all along CA 1. Watch whales spouting during whale season. (Gray whales and orcas is December to May. For humpbacks, visit May through November, and for blue whales, the largest animal on Earth, plan your stay between July and October). Bower Park, just 0.5 miles away with a lovely lake, tennis courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, and two separate playgrounds. Play disc golf or hike along the nature trail/fitness course. Anchor Bay is 5 miles up CA 1, with a supermarket, a few cafes, restaurants (including a great Thai place!) laundromat, hair salon, and more. The quaint town of Point Arena is 12 miles north, with a supermarket, Frannie's Cup And Saucer, The Bird Cafe, a beautiful historic lighthouse, a theater, a pier, a mini-safari park (B Bryan Preserve with zebras, giraffes and more. Tours need to be booked in advance). Also visit Roots, a natural pharmacy for herbs, teas and supplements. There are also spots like Occidental, Bodega Bay, Jenner (with the Russian River to kayak and swim) and Timber Cove, all on the way to Gualala from the south. Bodega Bay has lovely spots to eat, with clam chowder, fish and chips. Enjoy wind and water sports, and walk on the pier.

The neighborhood is super quiet and you can walk right from here to the Pygmy State Park trail system or just on the gravel neighborhood road. There is a main tent site and another tent site and places for 2 cars or more or a small travel trailer or van (20' length ok). There's a place for at least 2-3 tents and there is a table with 3 chairs provided. Also a metal box to keep your food away from bears that might come by (haven't had that happen yet). No campfires please but propane/gas cook stoves are fine. 50 gallons of potable water is provided from a tank. Please conserve water. Keep all food in your vehicle as there are bears and forest critters around. Outhouse with new, clean composting toilet, environmentally friendly! Camp Noyo

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.
