You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.** Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. The ranch is also located a short 29 min drive from the Carrizo Plain National Monument and Las Padres National Forest. Tule elk, prog horn antelope, and valley quail are just some of the animals you may encounter on our ranch. The pond is full of fish (bass, blue gill & sun perch) so don’t forget your fishing poles (catch & release). -We have beautiful 2 stall hot water showers, and three stall restroom including handicap stall. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY Our communal kitchen has : a large gas bbq grill, 3 smaller gas grills as well as gas burners & sink. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY. There are several counter high prepping tables around the kitchen (please clean up your cooking essentials & food after each meal as everyone shares this space). Campfires - We are an ember free site year round due to wildfire risks & insurance purposes. We do however have propane fire pit rentals for $20 per night. - great for roasting s’mores & the ambience of camping. Please do not cook any meals on them. All cooking is to be done in the communal kitchen area. The summer days can get pretty toasty and the winter nights can get very chilly so check the weather before your stay and plan accordingly. The pond is full of fish (bass, blue gill & sun perch) so don’t forget your fishing poles (catch & release). -We have beautiful 2 stall hot water showers, and three stall restroom including handicap stall. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY Our communal kitchen has : a large gas bbq grill, 3 smaller gas grills as well as gas burners & sink. **Cleaned & Sanitized DAILY. In one evening we got to do a little catch and release fishing (caught Bass and Bluegill) hung out with the farm puppies, and got to visit farm animals.

This was our second stay at Terri’s property, and it was every bit as magical as the first. The land is rugged, expansive, and wonderfully secluded—perfect for anyone who wants to wander for miles without seeing another soul. The views across the valley are breathtaking, and the old homestead adds a sense of history that’s captivating to explore. We appreciated the freedom to let our dogs roam off-leash, and they loved every minute of it. At night, the sky opens up completely—no light pollution, just endless stars and silence. It’s the kind of place where you feel small in the best way. Terri is a fantastic host—warm, responsive, and thoughtful. She even left us hot drinks to enjoy on the crisp fall evenings, which was such a kind touch. If you’re looking for privacy, open space, and a true high-desert escape, this site is something special. I appreciated how quiet and cozy the house was. On a rainy day- it was the perfect space for staying in. Host was very helpful and communicated immediately. Definitely coming back in the spring.

This place was just what we were looking for. A quiet getaway in a beautiful setting. There is a farm and our toddler loved seeing the goats, chickens and donkey. We were shown great hospitality from the host and made us feel at home. Great hikes right outside the door! We were even able to purchase some meat and eggs from the farm! A unique experience all around, would highly recommend!

My wife Suzie and I, and our two pup-pups, Lucy & Juando, just returned from our 2-night stay at Songdog Ranch, where we bunked in at the cabin known as Pupdog Hill. We really are having a hard time finding adequate language to describe the inherent magic and utter bliss that is undeniable, as it is “baked” into every board and boulder that exists beneath your feet, surrounding you with every breath you take. I hope a few of our fotos will give you an idea of this stunning place. But you really have to experience Songdog Ranch for yourself. We are beyond grateful to our indescribable hosts, Jim and Jenny. What an incredibly beautiful and peaceful place! Pupdog is the perfect place to escape, relax, and stargaze. Jen was super friendly and helpful. The shelter is well kept, comfortable, and cute with the perfect mix of amenities while still having a little bit of the glamp experience. It has lots of thoughtful little features (mat for the wagon, games, outdoor tub, kitchen supplies, etc). I truly cannot wait to go back and my dog can’t wait either :) Thank you Jen!

We had a small group come up to Nathan's ranch for my sister's birthday, and we rented out two of the glamping sites. We had so much fun, and it was awesome being away from the city with such amazing views. Seriously, the mountains were insane, and I don't think I've ever seen the Milky Way so clearly. Nathan was lovely, as are the animals—everyone should do the petting zoo. Definitely bring your earplugs if you're in Pink Pony #1 (the rooster is an early riser!) We'll be back for sure :)
