Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins or book the 5-acre Compound or the entire ranch. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you. Enjoy: The Kitchen has a cooktop, large fridge, microwave, full dishes and utensils and pots and pans with a big washing area in the back. Propane bbq.. There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming (delightful in Summer 2023). Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. We're both biologists, so, just ask us. Please see the Rules and Safety section to review our Waiver of Liability.

Secluded Cabin & Bunkhouse Complex
Most Amazing Experience!!
I had the pleasure of staying in the secluded cabin and bunkhouse complex recently and I must say, nothing could beat this experience. The cabin is a two-story, thoughtfully designed setting, with everything you could possibly desire to be happy and comfortable during your stay. (Loved the patio!) The extra bunks available in the two bunkhouses make a small group event an awseome opportunity. Waking up with hot coffee and looking out over the pastures and hills before dawn was so serene. My only companions were the flocks of turkeys waking up with me, chattering and moving from their nearby roosts to hustle across the field, and some unseen coyotes howling in the hills. Roaming the property was another blessing, as it seems so natural and beautiful. Wildlife can be seen doing what they do without being bothered by droves of people and the landscape is gorgeous. The real highlight for me was meeting the landowner. He has a great sense of humor, is incredibly knowledgeable about all of the local floura and fauna, and was very kind to share some tidbits of information with me that I found absolutely fascinating! Additionally, he made sure that everything went perfectly well during my stay, and even invited me to an incredible event at the ranch called a Sound Bath!! I highly, highly recommend anyone who seeks a unique, quiet getaway to get in touch with the good folks at the River Ridge Ranch and ask for the Secluded Cabin and Bunkhouse Complex. You will love it!

Cottonwood Cabin
Exceeded expectations!
I needed a break and decided to stay four nights in one of the cabins on a personal retreat. After settling in and meeting Gary the host, I found the spark of creativity and productivity that was lacking at home. The cabin was great! Everyday I enjoyed long walks on the trails on the spacious ranch and marveled at the sights. The nearby river could be heard gurgling from the cabin, I spotted very cool wildlife, heard coyotes in the distance early in the morning hours, and more. I felt safe and secure…which allowed me to focus all the more. Next time I go, I’ll be bringing my telescope and astrophotography gear…the night skies were teeming with stars. It’s bortle 2 skies as it’s nestled in between mountains where light pollution doesn’t reach! Looking forward to more fun!! Scott

Turtle Flat Tent Site
Amazing place
This area was amazing! The tent sites are level with a cushy layer of sand. It was great to have access to a full kitchen because it was one less thing to worry about. The river was fun to float on. Definitely will be back.

Turtle Flat Tent Site
Kitchen area setup has everything to make cooking and clean up a breeze. The commercial size refrigerator allows for multiple groups to share cold storage. Enjoyed the peaceful surroundings in camping area and at the creek. Would recommend to others.
