Great getaway place, everything was perfect. Wendy definitely makes this a special place. Pictures of what the place is are on point, ypu have everything you could thing off, loved the eggs, you have acess to the river super close to Sequoia if that is something you want to do. Def a place to be free and enjoy nature, would def love to come back! Wendy is such a great host.

Weekend Trip to 3R Ranch Retreat

My stay in Three Rivers was absolutely wonderful! The place was super clean, cozy, and very well taken care of. I spent two amazing nights there — it’s peaceful, surrounded by nature, and the perfect spot to relax and recharge. Everything was exactly as shown in the pictures (or even better!). I highly recommend it and would definitely come back! 🌿✨

Absolutely awesome and unique place to stay. Wendi is genuinely such a wonderful host. Her animals are all absolutely lovely to have around. Loved staying in the little vintage trailer and really enjoyed getting to sit under the stars next to a little fire every night. Her spot is right on the river and I def recommend taking a dip and laying in the hammock as the sun rises. Location is great if you are planning on going into Sequoia National Park for some adventures too!

Weekend Trip to Isky Ranch

Loved Allison's campsite - it was private, shaded by Sycamores and lined with Datura. Best of all it was just a short walk to the river. My favorite part was the huge rocky bottom that comes up to shape the river's edge, right near where Allison had chairs set up, and you're essentially able to sit in the river while it flows around you. It is exceptionally beautiful in the morning, especially while watching the Turkey Vultures roosting and sunning their wings, and the Acorn Woodpeckers flitting about. A couple reviews mentioned having loud neighbors, which I was worried about since I had forgotten earplugs -- but happy to report that it was a perfectly quiet, beautiful night. We were only able to camp 1 out of the 2 nights we reserved due to unfortunate rental car troubles, but Allison was responsive through text and has helped me out with a partial refund request, which I very much appreciate. Allison provided clear directions to the campsite, communicated expectations clearly, and was an overall gracious host. Would love to stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Private Sanctuary on the Tule River

I’ve been coming to this spot for 4 years and hands down it is one of my favorites! It is so relaxing to wake up next to the river. Very secluded and private. I’ve been in Summer and Fall and both times are amazing to visit. Hosts are very attentive with texting you check in details etc., and very sweet making sure you enjoy your stay. I almost want to keep this place my little hidden gem because I love it so much! I’ve sent all my friends the listening and everyone is always eager to book a trip. Do yourself a favor and stay here, it’ll be nothing short of magic!

Weekend Trip to OrangeRay~Three Rivers

Cannot recommend this Hipcamp enough! The property is perfect for a weekend getaway, and Wendi is an incredible host and truly a gem of a human, as other reviewers have also commented. We stayed in the teepee next to the reading nook and had everything we needed: a fan, light, and outlet inside the tent; dishes and cutlery and a camping stove (though we brought our own); a cooking area, an eating area, and two pool chairs to lay out. The reading nook provided a chill space to watch a movie on our iPad at night, and a quiet place for reading and meditation during the day. Outside, the property had so much to offer: plenty of animals all with unique personalities, river access (water was flowing in late September), and serene nature all around. The grocery store is less than a 5 minute drive away. Wendi deserves her own shoutout apart from the property and sleeping/playing amenities. She is an amazing host and an absolute joy to chat with. Knowing it was my boyfriend’s birthday, she went out of her way to have a cupcake and candle prepared for us in the nook! But it didn’t stop there — she also washed our dishes for us and prepared our firewood each night. She made our trip a relaxing getaway. There’s so much I could say in this review, but I’ll leave it at that and say: you have to visit Pixie’s Place for yourself if you want to experience the magic! We came as strangers and left with a new friend, and we will be back because our experience was that unique. Love you, Wendi!

Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge Ranch goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins. the 5-acre Compound or the Entire Ranch. We occasionally host small, thoughtful, low impact weddings. Please inquire. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). OrangeRay, home of Pixie's Place Animal Sanctuary and Hospice was founded in 2007, when I left L.A. for the forest by the river to create, and to expand my shamanic pursuits. Being that Three Rivers was home to the socialist Kaweah Colony in the 1800's; which helped in the founding of Sequoia National Park; the area is rich in history. Poet John Muir was enchanted and inspired by this area; Walt Disney fell under her spell as well when he envisioned a "Swiss Chalet" style resort which never came to fruition. The water wars of California began right here; gold rush...right here! "Kaweah" is the name given by the Indians for the sound the Crow makes. Three Rivers literally sits on slabs of quartz crystal, making rock hunting superb! As an energy practitioner, the quartz heightens the healing process; as well as creating an energy vortex. My property sits on an area that was once an Indian village, and then the school house for the children of the pioneers. There was a huge Hare Krishna Colony up here in the 60-70's. As a photographer and filmmaker, the lighting up here is amazing! The night skies literally pulsate with their celestial canopy. A great spot to sky watch as well! The property is not kid-friendly, and is not really here for children as much as it is offered for the inner child in adults. WE ARE 420 friendly which is in opposition to most "family" landscapes....so please note this is not personal but I prefer no children xo Also, I prefer no pets, as it disrupts the balance here with the animal residents :) I share fresh eggs when available :) (The shower is not available to guest :)

About

The American dream of freedom and the pursuit of happiness is embodied in this park. Founded in 1908, this was California’s first town financed and governed solely by African Americans. The town of Allensworth was named for and co-founded by a former slave.

A water shortage and economic slump led to the town’s demise after World War I. California State Parks purchased the land in 1974 and began restoring several buildings. Now, special events and a yearly rededication ceremony keep this spirited history alive.

Touring the restored buildings gives you a realistic view of residents’ lives. Desks line the two-classroom schoolhouse, considered the best in Central Valley at the time. A general store stocked with dry goods gives a glimpse of daily living.

You can drive between buildings or bring your bike to this cycle-friendly park. Located north of Bakersfield, this park has 15 campsites open year-round for tents or RVs. A picnic area also is available for day trippers.

Would stay again. We arrived late at night and were plenty of spots open. There was a self pay station that was easy to use and you can pay nightly for your spot. There is a list of the reservations on the board next to it so you don’t pay for a spot someone has reserved. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. Showers were also free and quick to warm up. The only negative note is coming in at night was a little spooky. You go through the historic town on the way to the campground and there’s no towns near by. The train often stops on the tracks going in and out but thankfully there is a way around.

John Whitehead Jr Campground

This is a convenient place to camp when travelling through the area since there isn't many other options around. Don't forget your mosquito repellent and watch out for bunnies and field mice when driving by night! Amenities are great, showers are free and clean.
